hey hey hey can we talk about he fact adrien probably dealt with his mothers disappearance by himself. like he didnt really have much of a support system

his father immediately became closed off when it happened (because he himself was dealing with her death/along with nathalie) and nathalie and him weren't that close really

and SURE there's chloe, but how often did he really see her? did she even help at all?

did he see felix at that time? because based on the timeframe while there was a search for his mother sometime during that felix father died, and since we can go off of the quote "im really sorry i didnt come to your dads funeral" meaning adrien hasnt had a chance to apologize between then and before.

so. adrien just. dealt with emilies disappearance essentially by himself with little to no support system. and the way they talk in the show, he kind of assumes shes dead due to her illness right before and the fact she never came back

I finally finished my "little" animation project!!!

I've been working on this for like a month between tasks at work. I did the lip sync but didn't bother to actually find the voice clip and edit it in so its silent 😂 There are definitely things I would keep perfecting if I had the time but I'm really happy with how it turned out ❤️🖤

I believe you're a being a bit mislead in all of this. I don't see Marinette being validated by the writing right now - quite the contrary considering the massive secret that will have an impact sooner or later on their relationship.

As for Elation: Marinette has had to give up on the idea of dating multiple times in the show. She's allowed to break down a little over it, she's allowed to cry over it, she's allowed to be a 14yo girl acting like one for once in her life. Secondly, she was about to get akumatized. The show has been abundantly clear that no akuma victim is to blame for Monarch using their emotions and controlling them. Saying she was willing to be Chat Noir's enemy and "punish" him and so on is playing into victim blaming territory, and is a huge misinterpretation of the scene. And implying her actions are to force him to be with her is also extremely misinterpreted. Marinette isn't ill-intended in this scene, it's just her emotions crashing down on her after all the stress she's been under and everything she's denied herself for so long. Not once does she express wanting to "punish" Chat Noir or anything. You also seem to forget that it's literally realizing that she could have been akumatized that made Marinette understand that she couldn't be with Chat Noir, in neither of her identities.

Regarding the kiss, nothing in Chat Noir's behavior shows that he was uncomfortable - if anything, he was panicked that Marinette could be a victim of Monarch, and did the first thing that came to his mind. He feels bad on Marinette's behalf and not his own in this scene. You make it sound like Marinette forced him to kiss her in this scene and that's absolutely not what happened, especially when Monarch was having control over her and when Chat Noir's the one who asked her to kiss him to break the control. Marinette then isn't blaming anyone, she's just agreeing with Chat Noir saying that they can't be together.

And yeah, Marinette was heartbroken the next episode. She's been heartbroken for many seasons before that, one could say she's burnt out - she's allowed to want a break. And while Adrien has learnt a lot too in the past season, when Marinette told him "no" to be in a relationship with him at the start of the episode, he went through with Plagg's plan in giving up his miraculous to still try to be with her one more time. I do not see at all the show blaming Adrien for any of them giving up their miraculous so I'm not sure what episode you've been watching. There are many things to criticize about Kwami's choice, but this ain't it.

Anyways, I'll stop answering now but I couldn't not reply when I read your take on Elation especially, because implying that Marinette is coercing Chat Noir into being with her, forcing him to kiss her & wants to actively punish him for refusing to be with her weren't things I could let slide.

Casual reminder but the entire show isn't just Marinette pursuing Adrien. It's also Adrien - as Chat Noir - pursuing Ladybug. That's the star-crossed love referred in the theme song lyrics where two people in love pursue the other without the other being aware. That's the premise of the lovesquare. You know, the main point everyone focused on ever since the 2D PV was released?

Adrien too had multiple photos of her hidden away in his bedroom and in his phone.

Has action figures of them and plays with them for scenarios.

Daydreams of telling her his secret identity as well as having dream of their future together.

Tried to give LB flowers multiple times and that it even is its own set of episodes where he faces rejection but cannot help but still love her.

Enjoys it when others bring out they think they are a couple and want to play along.

Has smelled her openly and knows her perfume well enough to distinguish her from an evil fake.

Uses the Snake Miraculous to woo Ladybug.

Or try to be literally someone else for her to love him.

Would sacrifice his life anytime to save her.

Endangers himself for her even as a civilian.

Or will go on murder mode if anything happens to the person he loves.

Basically, they match each other freak. They aren't completely identical, but they sure share similarities.

She is trying to control every exterior factors and imagine all these plans and scenarios in order for things to go perfectly and not get herself hurt (and you could guess that back in S3, way before Derision).

He is a lonely and overly romantic guy with too much love to give and whose unrequited feelings were being a burden at times on his partner.

Both wanted to be loved back. Both tried several times. Over and over again. And both eventually saw how their love was hurting them. That it wasn't healthy to keep going on like this.

Chat Noir: You were in love with Adrien Agreste? Marinette: Yes. But it just made me act in the worst ways. It was too much to bear. What about you? You’re no longer in love with Ladybug? Chat Noir: No. It was too much to bear. It just made me act in the worst ways.

Because love and relationship is constant work.

And it is not like Adrien himself wasn't aware of Marinette's weirdness either.
