luxintrus and ending a cycle (of violence, predictably)
source: i have autism and picked through every CSMP video i could. please note i probably read into this way too much but that doesn't stop me from being uber autism about csmp.
OBVIOUS SPOILERS FOR LUX, RAT, TALON, DIANSU, AND WINSWEEP'S CONTENT SMP VIDEOS.
i decided to pick through all of the content smp videos after catching up to the finale; first off, ow, second off, i might be reading into it FAR too much, but lux's death seems? premeditated by herself. there are SO many hints that i found ironic after the finale, and so many of them tie to charter (but like half the deaths tie to charter so tomato-potato or whatever). all in all, i think lux was 1) NEVER meant to die (which was obvious) and 2) it was of her own volition to die at merkhett.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i'm going to take this chronologically (vaguely), just for the sake of keeping things sane; i'm going to start with the mason's death and the streams after that (the split mainly). i don't think the mason's death was supposed to happen, as it 1) revealed mouthpiece and their influence and 2) opened up the server and mainly lux (since bonesburrow and goramont [DON'T ask me to spell it write im a business student] are so close).
after the mason's death, lux is exposed to one main thing; what charter did to him. when mouthpiece shows up to "talk" to lux, he mentions two things; he was responsible for the death of MILLIONS (okay extinction!) and directly responsible for the death of lux's biological parents.
this could play into a later part of lux not wanting to continue down charter's (and her father's) path of being a killer. charter turned (?) the mason into a killer (OR strengthened his path of a killer), and turned blake into a killer too (he currently has the most kills with charter and doesn't seem intent on stopping).
this is an aside, but the mason, before his death told rat that he would regret this/he shouldn't do this. on top of that, the underground mouthpiece... thing was DEEP into the ground, as if the mason didn't want to expose the server and mainly LUX to charter.
it's talked a LOT in csmp about a cycle, killers after killers ad infinitum, all growing powerful until they kill the whole server at this point. lux was a direct victim of it, loosing zombie, void and her father too it, and rat (sort of) to a growing power in the server. it would influence someone to try and break that cycle. everyone thinks that, but doesn't think charter -- that same growing power -- is the way too end it. that's why i think lux's agreement to use charter and her end are intertwined.
diansu mentions that he knows about charter, knows about the "chains" that tied down the mason, and assumes (keyword assumes) that lux wouldn't make the same deal as her father (he is clearly surprised when lux whips out a big ass charter sword).
noxintrus (another version of lux from an alternate timeline) seems to be deeply against taking any deal with mouthpiece and seems eager to get rid of the ghost. they are equally shocked/angry to find out lux took the deal with mouthpiece.
this is also a stretch, but it doesn't seem that any other 'intrus' (my sample size is very small. only 3.) seem to want to or have taken deals with mouthpiece. nautilux was responsible for the death of her world with no (?) mouthpiece deal and noxintrus, from another timeline (before being thrown into the main one) is still against deals with mouthpiece.
even lux herself is apprehensive to use charter weapons, and we see her be told that her words are leaning into 'mad with power' especially after the diansu fight. she was also told that her world, like many worlds, end at the hands of rat AND herself. lux knows that in some world, she is responsible for the end of it, and it's becoming that way in the current universe.
several times, we see her apprehensive or second guessing using a charter weapon or speaking with mouthpiece. when nox tried to test the broken lesser divinity on rat, using lux as a pawn, she genuinely didn't want to (either out of a budding friendship or a apprehension to charter), and ended up snitching on the plan to rat.
her deal with mouthpiece was done behind SEVERAL people's back (mainly nox's and rat's), and from everyone's shock, i could only assume that this is VERY out of character for her, and growing even worse as she is drawn thin. by the point of the deal, spawn had been taken, her fish had been taken, rat was blown 7 million blocks into HELL (L) and she had failed people. she couldn't see herself as the hero.
when she went to duel diansu with the dusk's epitaph, i view it as a deal of desperation. with the risk of blake and noxintrus returning from neverend, it was a time to get rid of one person mad with power. it made sense why after her speech, a lot of people deemed her words hypocritical, as her words are very kin to what someone mad with power would say.
i think this is where she realised the cycle would continue. diansu dies to someone with immense power (herself and rat [by proxy]), another person returns (blake and nox) would challenge that change, and find a greater power (the mark of the benefactor and divine dominance), to kill that new power (lux and rat). if someone was removed from that equation, say someone with that new power (herself), it would maybe end the cycle and maybe stop the world from ending (nautilux did say SHE had a hand in ending the world, and lux surely is getting close).
after her death, which shocked everyone at the merkhett fight-- rat being genuinely distraught, blake seeming... shocked [?] that it was her and not rat, nox blaming RAT for her death despite it being her own volition to knock him from the divine dominance, and augur seeming surprised [?] that it was lux/her death would come from this ("this was not what was agreed upon" and other ominous confused phrases).
the only person who seemed sure of herself WAS luxintrus. she took the place of rat inside of the divine dominance, even though he would have survived (he had the mark of the benefactor in his inventory and she didn't, which she KNEW ABOUT). rewatching the fight, she actively waits, and knocks him out before the dominance collapses. she knew from talking to nox that it would keep him safe, and knocked him out to make sure he would live regardless of the mark or not.
she seemed sure of this decision (maybe not in the way of making sure her death happens) when she was talking to nox. she repeatedly tells them that rat saved her life, as justification for helping him despite how much harm he's caused for the both of them. this justification is for nox as much as it is for lux (in my eyes), as she knows that the cycle might continue after this, her death is another tick on the counter as people continue to fight for vengeance and power, but this is something she can do to STOP it. she had a hand in continuing the cycle with killing diansu with the epitaph and killing blake at merkhett. perhaps her death would ensure that there would be an end to the fighting.
another aside, funeral bells (?) are heard in talons video after his folly tree is destroyed, when we clearly see lux come into frame. this is A WILD THEORY and maybe clawing at straw, but i think talon knew about her sacrifice before the fight. his base is fairly close to spawn, and he was well-intentioned with end dust and being a guinea pig for neverend. his reaction when blake tells him that he killed lux was... empty? as if he already knew but WHO KNOWS ITS JUST A THEORY A [checks hand] SMP THEORY.
in short, i think that lux's death was premeditated by her own hand. she had been exposed to this cycle of death since the very beginning; her now closest ally was responsible for the death of her father, the person she considered a friend permanently banned two people and seems willing on killing more and more (winsweep said it himself; he wants another challenge). she learned from another version of herself that she was responsible for the end of that world, and from the looks of it, some reflection maybe made lux consider that she would have a hand in the end of her own. she moved in secret, keeping her plan to end the cycle of violence, even with extreme measures such as charter, on the low. she knew that charter would only grow extreme with each death, and so in some way, she ensured that it wouldn't.
luxintrus' death to a charter piece solidified in everyone's mind, i think even winsweep's, that charter could kill YOU next. in one of blake's videos, he says that it was as if lux was the glue holding the server together, and with her gone, the world went silent. but the silence, even with blake's desperation for power and another fight, signified one thing; this cycle couldn't continue.
#NURRRRRRRSEEE THEY GOT OUT AGAIN!#it took me about 3 days to write this whole thing (i edited a bunch)#anyways this is how silly i am :p#never give me a compelling story with several parts i can absorb#content smp#csmp#luxintrus

hiya! we're the Solar system, or just Solar! we're your local plural MCYT fandom veteran (of ~13yrs) with a penchant for getting into just about the nichest things you could possibly imagine. we write fanfiction, post the occasional drawing, and also just generally love talking MCYT analysis!
if you happen to be one of the MCYTers we post about, please be aware that we tailor our blog to our taste, not to anyone else -- MCYT or no. you're welcome to stick around, but please keep in mind that we will continue to post as we would if you weren't here!
we usually have separate series tags for anything we don't want to maintag. we're fine with shipping but very rarely post ship content, and will try to tag it as such unless it's canon in-series. in addition, we occasionally have Opinions on Discourse or other general issues. any posts of this nature are tagged as #salt -- and this is a general catch-all tag, whether it's serious analysis of a situation or just us complaining about something minor.
feel free to like/reblog spam or go through our tags, we don't mind! our blog organization's a bit of a mess right now but we pretty consistently tag any talk about writing or shortform analysis as #solar scraps and actual fanfiction or similar longform original writing as #solar scrawls.

The Desert:
Contained : YourPalRoss
Series : Redstoner
Propaganda : Forced home to one of the earlier MCYTers to ever truly be trapped in the narrative, the Desert in Redstoner is a creative superflat world designed for redstone testing and inhabited by the lone YourPalRoss. Ross's days are spent tinkering with redstone machines, and his nights are... well, they don't exist. The Red Sun never sets. He hasn't seen the night in months. Also present within the Desert is a malignant entity known as the Red Sun, one which speaks to him through flashes of text on the screen and tells him to do... things. Keep your eyes closed. Trap your friends when they come to visit, make them stay with you. Kill your friends, they know too much. Keep those damn eyes closed. Oh, and as if this wasn't bad enough... the entire world is also a timeloop, one in which Ross invariably breaks down under the Red Sun and kills his friends, only to be guilt-tripped by a demon taking the form of one of those friends into resetting the timeline to try and save them "this time". He can't, of course. The Red Sun never sets

Pandora"s Vault:
Contained : Dream, Tommyinnit, Ranboo, Technoblade, Connoreatpants
Series : DSMP
Propaganda : its so big. Its so so big. Look at a map of the dsmp. Its just a black void bigger than l'manburg was. You look at it and you just know it's something terrible. the obsidian walls, lava, the iron. It's just there. In the middle of the ocean. It does not fit in and its scary. the AMOUNT of redstone and functions it go is AMAZING. the only way to enter is through a portal that then leads u to the nether and has to be manually activated again by the warden. So to enter you literally NEED the wardens permission. All the bridges and all the door. It's so fucking cool man what can I say. The amount of security. the lore that happened inside pandora as well. Pandoras arc was the best arc of the whole of dream smp and I stand by that. There is so so much to unpack. Sam and Dream could have just built some shitty obsidian box and called it a prison, but no they made PANDORAS VAULT
The Prison of the Iron Crocodiles:
Contained : ForgeLabs, unsortedguy, okrobert
Series : Scenario SMP
Propaganda : A work of tactical mastery and raw function. Sean's team only had three people including himself, whereas every other kingdom had around 10 players. In order to even the playing field, Sean's plan essentially involved using the rules of the Scenario to their full potential -- players were not allowed to break blocks while in enemy territory, so anyone dropped into the pit trap contained in the castle's gates would be stuck and forced to drop their weapons and armor or risk being murdered by a very angry crocodile. Was a working prison for quite some time, including being used to hold one of the rival leaders and more than one of his people hostage for a good amount of time. It's probably not much to look at compared to some of the other builds here, but it made up one of the central tactical plot points of the entire GoT scenario. The ripple effect of this prison being built can't be understated -- its usage completely reshaped the political and tactical landscape of the server. ...I mean, Forge didn't win, but it still reshaped the way he lost. Also it was just a very cool tactic.
#i HAVE to go pandoras vault#im sorry forgelabs but nothing beats the sheer intimidation and size of a empty black void consuming part of your map for ONE prisoner
