Another world lost to the Heartless. 

What’s left of it is more of a cracked husk than anything worth salvaging. The Heart of the world is exposed and losing the fight to the darkness, an orb of whirling darkness that sets the wind howling across ruined chunks of what little of the surface is still intact.

It’s impossible to tell what the broken building Vanitas sits on used to be, but it makes for a decent enough perch to watch things fall to chaos. On the ground, the Heartless run amok, veering unerringly towards the last holdouts of life this world has left to offer. They don’t bother him, he doesn’t bother them. Why try? Neither party has anything to offer the other.

Helmet resting beside him, he stares at the sky as it all falls apart, emotions relatively numb. This is as close to peace as things get. Eventually, he’ll have to leave– before he becomes part of the collateral. 

He may as well sit and enjoy it while he can.

He isn't so much as interested in meeting the spawn of the old man as he is in keeping an eye on her. That she's in any way familiar in appearance is infuriating, and not for the reasons he'd expected. There's a disgust in linking her appearance to his own, a terror revulsion flung viciously out into the Lanes Between as a malformed creature at the very idea that his own face could ever be linked back to the master; all he could do was blame him. Blame Ventus. Blame Xehanort.

Blame the little punk she lingers over, with the same cautiously distant attention he gives her, initially. Then, they're practically attached at the hip.

He doesn't want their attention. He absolutely does. The itch to wrap his fingers around someone's neck and squeeze itches under his skin, until one day, he doesn't bother keeping his distance anymore.

Whatever she's doing, a masked boy watches from close by, arms folded over his chest.

Just give him one excuse. Just the one.

This is what’s had Ventus’ emotions all over the place for the past few months? 

A kid. Just another wielder; one who seems all too happy to toddle along after his light and learn whatever nonsense the blond wants to spout out of his mouth like a good little boy. Disappointing.

Intriguing. There’s plenty Lex hasn’t been saying; things Ventus won’t pry about that would be interesting to learn. Who wouldn’t want some insight into the future? And his attachment to him…

Makes it worth the visit. Makes it worth waiting for the right time; when Lex isn’t holed away in the Land of Departure, when he’s on his own. The moment Vanitas sees his opportunity, the bait is set.

There’s a Flood that catches Lex’s eye. It seems to startle at his attention, quick to meld to the floor and scramble away like its life depends on it. It probably does. 

Better hurry if you want to catch it, Lex. Who knows what problems it could cause if left alone.

Is Vanitas capable of talking through his Unversed?

"Do they look like they have vocal chords?" It's to his own benefit that they don't. What he can do with them, however- that's for him to know, and no one else to find out.

⇒ IC =/= OOC. If there’s ever a specific way you were hoping our characters would interact, let’s talk it out! 

⇒ Vanitas is an ass, he will sometimes want to fight. I will always ask permission before he attacks, and leave his actions open in terms of what does and does not connect. All I ask is for the same in turn, or to hear from you if you'd like something to definitely connect. If you feel like your character could kick his ass... please, knock him down a peg.

⇒ I do my best to understand most of the canon, but please do not be discouraged if you’re interested in UX characters interacting and I’m not familiar with those events. I’ve been in the fandom since 2002 things have Happened and I was Not Prepared.

⇒ Kingdom Hearts as a series canonically holds a lot of dark themes; attempted murder, actual murder, casual mentions of suicide and self-harm, just to name a few. Vanitas is probably the worst possible character in terms of this. Please let me know if we ever stray into territory you aren’t comfortable with; this is your pretendy fun time, so it should be enjoyable for you.
