Omg I completely forgot!!! A couple of days ago was the one year anniversary of me playing FE for the first time!!! Can't believe I've actually continued to be a fan for a full year!!! I've got no plans to leave quite yet tho!!!

I know I'm like, really new to the FE fandom, and I'm only really interested in Awakening and Fates, but these games have genuinely changed my life for the better. Not even just the fact that having something I love to think about all day helps me get through painfully boring stuff. Last summer was kind of a nightmare for me, I was having extremely horrible flare-ups of intrusive thoughts and processing some pretty traumatic moments from the summer before. FE didn't make it all go away, obviously I'm still struggling (new therapist this Friday!! Yay!!!), but just having something that I really, truly , loved again made me feel like I could like, go out and thrive in the world again. There's a lot that I don't feel comfortable telling on here, but playing these games genuinely allowed me to be happy enough to actually seek the resources I needed to continue on with my life in a somewhat normal way. What would have been a really hard year for me last year ended up being so much easier because I had something to fall back to when I was feeling low. And it wasn't all roses and butterflies, like some of the worst shit of all time happened to me this year, but for like, once in my life it was manageable. Because I had a sort of comfort game to help take my mind off of it.

All this to say, I would like to thank my childhood 3DS that I found in my mom's basement that's all chipped up, the fact that I mained Lucina in Smash Bros, and whoever the fuck's idea it was at IS to make Leo. I couldn't have done it without 'ya!

Okay, so I'm not huge on zodiac signs anymore (really loved them when I was like, 13), but ever since then I've headcanoned that Robin is a Capricorn, because I feel like it just makes so much sense to me. Loyal, an "old soul", motivated by duty, pragmatic, a little pessimistic, ambitious, idk those traits always just felt very Robin-esque to me.

And omg I was just trying to remember what my HC birthday was for them, Iirc it was January 13th, but then I got curious as to if there was a national bird day and when it was, and apparently it's January 5th. Omg smack dab right in the middle of Capricorn season. Also matches Morgan's because theirs is May 5th. That's it. That's my headcanon birthday for them. There is no other correct answer.

Episode 11: For Ylisse and For Elise!!

I completed this chapter in a therapist’s office in exactly one hour, be proud of me y’all.

Hello, and welcome back to Slaycation’s Conquestcation, my blog where I document my fourth ever run of Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest!! We continue our journey through Paralogue hell! (But it’s actually paralogue heaven to me, I love paralogues). This time around, we’ve got Ophelia’s!!! As a unit, she’s gonna be one that is gonna play a big role in our team. Not AS big as some of our other mages (AKA she’s second place only to Leo), but she’s gonna make specifically Chapter 25 PAINFULLY easy for us. (If anybody’s curious, the reason why she’s not being completely prioritized over Leo is because I'm a little bit biased. I do believe that with the right toolkit, Ophelia is better, but Leo is easily second place for me, solely because it’s easier to get the good skills on him than it is for Odin. I would personally rather use a slightly worse unit that I have fun with than just throw somebody in the middle of a room and watch them one round everything, so that’s why I don’t plan on just making Ophelia do EVERYTHING until it’s absolitely necessary.) In terms of her build, I’m just keeping it simple, doing the classic Vantage/Life and Death build on her. But instead of buying Tomefaire on her like I did last time, I’m instead gonna give her a marriage to Percy in order to get her Trample!! Malig Knight Ophelia will probably also just be really fun, even if I don’t keep her there permanently!!

But anyways, in terms of supports! Estella and Leo aren’t gonna hit S support I don’t think, and that’s okay! But, Leo and Odin will probably hit their B support, and that’s awesome! We also have Laslow and Selena’s A support on the horizon, much sooner than I would’ve anticipated, honestly! We can also go ahead and get Ophelia and Percy to a C support as quickly as possible, just to make my life a shit ton easier!

I also did not get a picture of the setup for this map unfortunately, but it’s okay because it’s pretty easy to understand once you like, see the first turn and everything.

Turn 1:

We start on the bottom left. We have Peri with a Javelin taking care of the Diviners (Keaton was the last to be moved, I put him directly to the right of Peri), and we have Selena with a Laslow pair up taking care of the Wyvern Riders. With my placement, we perfectly have it so that Peri won’t get attacked by the Wyverns, and Selena won’t get attacked by the Diviners

Meanwhile, in the top left, we can see that Percy and Ophelia have run all the way up to where the Knights are. I have them separate so that Ophelia can utilize Nosferatu and Percy can utilize a Hammer that I not only bought for this chapter, but will also come in handy in other chapters as well.

In the top right, Niles and Camilla run to take care of the Samurai. They don’t NEED to be paired up together, since they’ve already hit their S support a little while back (and by that I mean 2 maps ago), but what is really useful about 1 range unit/2 range unit marriages is that you can have them Dual Strike together really easily in Player Phase, without needing to transfer anything. Obviously, just having 2 1-2 ranged units is better, and Niles and Camilla CAN do that right now, but this is still super fun.

And finally, on the bottom right, Estella gets next to Leo and the two of them are gonna be dual striking against the Fighters! Odin is also over here to provide support points with Leo!

And Elise rushes over to the Village and grabs the Lightning tome… or at least she would if I hadn’t forgotten

Turn 2

Starting back at team PKSL (Peri Keaton Selena Laslow), we start by having Peri kill the Diviner she missed an attack on to start. Both Wyverns are both barely alive, so we start by having Selena kill one, and then Keaton grabs Laslow and switches to him in order to give Laslow the second kill

With team OP (Ophelia Percy), we have them both take down the remaining Knights. However, I run into a rough situation when all that’s left is a singular Archer, who would kill Percy on the Enemy Phase, so I have Niles help kill it.

Camilla stays on the Spirit Dust’s door. Instead of just grabbing it, for some reason I chose to have her wait here?

And then, on team LEO (Leo, Estella, Odin, somehow that worked out really well), we have them kill stuff. Iirc, I had Estella kill the last Fighter in front of her, Odin paired into Leo, and then I had him kill one of the Ninjas

Elise attacks the others Ninja but it doesn’t kill.

Turn 3:

Laslow, Selena, Peri, and Keaton make an attempt to rush over to the right side of the map. Laslow gets in range of the Ninja (who didn’t die last Enemy Phase), to see if it’ll attack him instead.

At this point, I come to the conclusion that we’re not getting the Spirit Dust. And that’s honestly okay, because there’s only 3 things I need from this paralogue, and that’s the tomes, of which I can currently get with ease. So, Camilla, Niles, and Ophelia go and kill the Samurai that went for team OPN (Ophelia, Percy, Niles)

I don’t even know what happened on the right. We have Leo, Estella, Odin, and Elise attacking shit, and Azura sang for one of them (likely Elise). And I thought Estella was gonna die here because she’s in range of the Outlaw. But she didn’t, I think it was because he went for the Spirit Dust instead.

Turn 4 (taken on enemy phase):

Everybody moves in. Selena and Laslow assist the help of Elise to kill the enemies that approached. Elise was more used for Dual Strikes here because she went and grabbed the Lightning tome here.

Estella just heals here I’m pretty sure. It’s Leo that does the combat.

Team COPN (Camilla, Ophelia, Percy, Niles, pronounce “copin’”) kills most of the enemies on the top right

And Keaton and Peri are still catching up

Turn 5

I wanted Ophelia to take care of the reinforcements on the top for some extra exp. I also wanted Camilla to get some free healing, so she goes onto the fort. Niles runs for the top left village

Keaton pairs into Peri (after I miscalculated how far he needed to walk earlier), and they get into range of the enemy. I’ve been trying to get them equal amounts of combat, just so that Velouria inherits some decent initial stats (which I don’t doubt will happen, but I’m just anxious that I’m actually wrong and Peri’s gonna give her some shit stat spread). But, more often than not, I find that Keaton is the one who’s fighting, since he has better defense.

Estella runs behind Leo, and Leo gets into range as well, since he can take a hit. He’ll still get support points no matter what.

And Selena, Laslow, and Elise take care of the reinforcements on the bottom.

Turn 6:

Everybody up top gets out of range of the enemies

Everybody else runs forward

Niles gets the stuff from the village

Turn 7:

Basically, I find here that Selena can reach one of the higher-up enemies, which allows her to kill them

Then, Leo goes in and kills another, which allows Estella to use his Dual Strike to kill the one next to them.

Elise goes to grab the final stuff from the village (pretty sure that’s the horse spirit)

Ophelia and Camilla take care of the last ones on enemy phase

Turn 8:

I left the Shrine Maiden alive so that if I didn’t have time to grab the chests before I routed the enemy, I could have unlimited time afterward. Elise grabbed the last of the loot, and now I have time to grind supports. Specifically Laslow/Keaton and Keaton/Peri. So I start by having Peri Jav the Shrine Maiden. The plan here was for her to miss a couple times for extra support points. Basically, one hit and one missed. I figured that’s enough, so I finished it off by having Laslow grab Keaton and finish the job. And hey, he hit Level 2! Don't know why it felt important for me to note that here but okay!!!

I was not able to get a picture of what supports were achieved unfortunately. But, I will say this: We got Laslow/Selena A, Odin/Leo B, and Ophelia/Percy C, which were all the ones I planned on getting. 

Overall, this was a really short episode!! Which makes me wonder why I waited so long to complete it!! This is basically an LTC of this paralogue as far as I'm concerned. Now, I’m gonna just keep on grinding supports and shit!! That’s gonna be the next couple of chapters for now lmfao 😭

The worst part about being a Leo girlie is that it WOULD be completely fine - like understandable, like of course you wanna marry Howl-Pendragon-if-he-had-shorter-hair-and-wore-dumber-clothes-and-rode-on-a-horse. But then there's that teeny-tiny-itsy-bitsy problem that he's your literal brother, and of course that shit is continuously mentioned in-game even after you get married. There will never be a part of me that can do that Leo marriage 100% guilt free. Because I hate the incest part of it so damn much, but then there's the other part of me that knows that if I married any other unit, then I'd just get sad because the Leo marriage is kind of a comfort thing for me now 😭

So like, there's no way for me to win here 😭

Ranting about the guts this fandom has sometimes when it comes to ship wars

Genuinely want them to make Chrom/Village maiden canon so bad so that I can never fucking have to listen to Chrom ship discourse ever again I can't stand it. Some of y'all get WAY too brave trying to argue abt this shit. I had a Reddit experience with a Chrom!Inigo fan earlier that wasn't HORRIBLE, rubbed me the wrong way a little but I've seen much worse, but it really made me think about how some people really think it's okay in this fandom to directly tell people that their pairing is wrong for one reason or the next to their faces. Like, sure, Inigo gets his philandering from his mother, but it's also okay for me to also like the coincidence of him and Virion being blue-clothed philanderers. I could've said that "erm, actually Laslow said he can't perform the Awakening in Fates so Chrom/Olivia is also wrong" but I didn't. Because it's literally not that deep. I feel like every time somebody's like "Hey! What pairings do you like in Awakening?" It becomes a complete shitshow for the sole reason that the Sumia/Olivia/Robin wars start all over again. It's genuinely pissing me off. As a Sumia fan myself, I want everybody (Sumia fans included) to PLEASE shut the fuck up and let everybody form their own opinions. And as a newer FE fan, I can't even imagine how bad this used to get.

I know I complain about pairings in this game a lot, maybe sometimes I go a little bit overboard, but I would NEVER directly tell somebody that their pairing sucks or is "wrong". Because I feel like that's common courtesy, no? Like, sure, I'll complain about fucking Leo/Sakura all day, but never in a million years would I specifically tag like a fanartist or some shit and say "Hey just so you know, Forrest actually says he got his fashion taste from Leo so you can't draw him in Sakura's clothing". I had a conversation with somebody who liked Camilla!Velouria just yesterday, and you know what I did? I didn't say "oh, fuck your pairing because Camilla!Nina is clearly superior", I said "hey, that one isn't my personal favorite, but I get why you like it". It literally didn't kill me to just not be a dick about it and go "well actually in canon Velouria gets her clinginess from her father so her mom can't be Camilla". One time I literally just said that I liked Laslow/Selena and somebody replied and said "no you're wrong because Selena/Subaki is canon". WHERE DO PEOPLE GET OFF THINKING IT'S OKAY TO JUST GO "YOU'RE WRONG"???

And over the past week I've mellowed out a little bit abt pairings I genuinely don't like. I'm actually considering deleting my "pairings I don't like" post just because it feels really harsh to me now. And you know what I did to feel that way? Just fucking see people devote gorgeous fanart to certain pairings or children with certain hair colors. Hear people talk about the little things they love about their ships. There are SO many pairings I would've never ended up liking had it not been for talented creators in this community. Like, I have countless examples. And a lot of them aren't even the main pairings I like. Like, Leo/Takumi isn't my main ship for either of them, but I'll be damned if the art that people devote to those two isn't some of the most gorgeous shit I've ever seen. I don't even like Laslow/Azura and I've seen some actually insane art of those two that has just blown me away. If we just took time to say "hey, this isn't my favorite pairing, but I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this!", I feel like I wouldn't be as pissed off as I always am about ship wars in this community. The support system is one of my favorite aspects of Awakening and Fates. But it just feels like diving into the abyss sometimes to even say you like something because people will directly reply you and tell you why they hate it. It's okay to not like a pairing. It's okay to have reasons why you hate it. You can write your personal essays as to what you don't like, idgaf. Check my Subaki/Selena essay. But PLEASE stop commenting DIRECTLY under people's stuff and telling them why you personally hate what they like. This is so fucking corny, but like, think about how you would feel if you said "well I like so and so" and some random-ass person on the internet went "ur wrong because of these reasons". Leave people alone.

Another day goes by and I'm still horribly confused as to why Leo doesn't get access to Wyvern unlike his siblings 😭 also, like, none of the Nohr royal Heart Seal classes make sense whatsoever 😭 I feel like Camilla should've gotten Troubadour, not because it would hurt her stats or whatever, like yeah Bowbreaker is probably good to have on her, but like, she's supposed to be the nurturing one, so why does the healing class go to Leo instead? I get why Elise has Wyvern, it's because she wants to be just like Camilla, so of course she would want her class line. But I feel like Wyvern also just makes so much sense for Leo. Wyvern Riders are typically on the edgier side in FE, at least from what I've seen compared to the Pegasus Knights, and with Malig Knight being a Wyvern that uses magic, I feel like it was just tailor made for Leo to have that class in his tree (no pun intended) ngl. Just one of the many ways Leo is screwed over by the game I guess...

And I was gonna end there, but that's another thing: outside of Magic Boon Corrin marriage, there is no optimal way to get Leo into Malig Knight and still keep Forrest as a worthwhile unit to use. Because the only way he can do it is through Beruka for some reason. And she doesn't necessarily DESTROY Forrest's stats, but you're obviously gonna wanna give him Felicia/Nyx/Sakura/whoever the fuck because they not only give him worthwhile classes, but they also give him good stats!! Because Forrest isn't the one that needs Malig Knight, it's Leo! Why is this game so afraid of letting the brothers and sisters A+ support each other?? Xander can A+ support fucking Kaze but he can't A+ support his own siblings. Why? Literally 99.9% of my problems would be solved in this game if Leo and Camilla could Friendship Seal each other. And I genuinely think that people would treat Leo as a better unit than how he is treated as if this was the case ngl. OR, life would be EVEN easier if Nyx or Felicia's second class was Wyvern (feel like Nyx makes more sense tbh), because then he could still make use of the Odin friendship. Or like, idk, maybe Beruka could be a magical mother instead, and just patch up a shit ton of problems with not having enough magical moms in the game. EDIT: I guess I forgot to add that I do understand WHY Leo got Troubadour, because of the Strategist class in itself being apparently the "smart person" class or something, and the fact that Forrest's main class is Troubadour. But also like, Arthur doesn't have Wyvern Rider and Percy does so like, what's the excuse there huh?

Update on this situation!! So, I have no idea how I was supposed to fix this normally, so I just found a Global file of the game that had every single support on it, and for now, it does work, and Camilla and Nina's support chain is restored! Kind of the equivalent of patching up a couch by replacing the whole leather skin and adding LED lights, recliners, and cup holders under the seats, but it gets the job done for now! Does make me kinda wanna get all supports one day, but it is nice to mindlessly read all of these!! I do believe that the error had to do with the mod I had in place unfortunately. But it's fixed now!!!
