Thinking about the pack visiting the Dread Doctors' main operating theater for some reason (to hide out, to seek information, idk), and Theo is just... so strung out about it. Like, not acting out or revering or anything like that because I don't think he'd behave that way, but almost TOO normal. They ask to see his room so he takes them to the 'kenels' that he slept in as a wolf that are basically just small cages, and the 'room' he slept in which was a small concrete room with a thin, threadbare matress and sheets, the wall derateed with positive results and encouiraemtn from the Doctors and plans for his next goals, jobs etc. The mess hall was just gross, processed goop which he added lots of salt and sugar to because he was the only one who lived there that ate food. He shows them the jars of all his organs and things that were removed when he was first changing into a chimea, as if he's proud of them, like Liam might show off his lacrosse trophies. He shows them the medical equipment by demonstration, and everyone freaks out as he blandly shoves needles full of strange substances into his arms and cuts himself open while narrating. He shows them the computers, the files full of documents, the failed experiments, everything, and he does it all like showing people around his apartment, bland and impassive and maybe a little proud?? And it's horrible, not only the pack seeing what it was like living the way he did, but how he has no reaction to it, like he's totally numb to what went on and buried the horror and misery and torment and replaced it with enough pride that he could cope with it. And his mentality is just like, "I mean, sure it's bad, but I was their favourite, and I can prove it to you", and that might be even worse. I don't know. I just think a fic set with the pack in a DD operating theatre could be so juicy and so angsty and break our hearts so good.....
It’s definitely a fascinating—if horrific—concept. I tend to come at it from the perspective of, as long as Theo kept himself in good working order and did what he was told, the Doctors didn’t care what he did or didn’t do with himself. Which would work it’s own horrors, of course—if he wanted to eat, he’d have to find it, if he wanted a place to sleep that wasn’t on the floor of the operating theater or whatever, he’d have to locate it.
But I could see a universe where something in him needed to take pride in how successful an experiment he was. It was all he’d known, after all—what else would he have had to cling to?

I just need you to know that I think about your fic ‘sea glass mirror lost in the gambling prairie’ all the time. It’s like my Roman Empire
That is extremely flattering, thank you. I do love that story—kind of let myself off leash with that one.
Glad you enjoyed it, and hope you continue to do so!

Sorry if you've answered this before, but what occupation do you think Jenna Dunbar has? We know David is a doctor, and I've been wondering for a while what Jenna does for a living, but my thoughts wildly move from finance to lawyer to real estate to kindergarten teacher to receptionist and other such things. What do you think she does?
Hmmm. I think I’ve sort of vacillated between an unspecified office job, or perhaps local government? Something a little out of the eye of things, but steady—with the life I’ve imagined her having (and the life she ends up with, considering what happens to her son), I see her as someone who appreciates the value of a stable, and not particularly glamorous, thing.

thank you for writing everything you do!
You are most welcome, and my apologies for disappearing these past few months! I am happy to say I’ll be reappearing briefly, probably tomorrow, though it won’t be for a TW fic. 😅
But with credit to a stalwart fandom friend, I do believe I have the idea for my next TW fic. Just gotta sit down and bang that sucker out. 😊

If you were in the BSatDH universe, would you be a Blood or a Fairborn, and what would your power be?
This is such a late reply, I’m so sorry—life has been nuts and more importantly, I wanted to spend some time thinking about it, as it’s not something that I’d ever really asked myself.
My immediate reaction is that I’d be a Blood. This is clearly the way that it’s meant to be read, but Fairborn society rubs me the wrong way—rigid, enamored with itself and its own rules, and at its heart, with corruption at least creeping around the edges, if not fully having taken hold. Blood society seems more…honest with itself? Rougher, and more brutal because of it, but more honest.
In terms of powers, not sure these “count” as in-universe powers, but I would absolutely love to have either telekinesis or animal shapeshifting. If I had to pick one from the show, I’d actually probably choose Soul’s power, weirdly—control over plants. I think there’s a lot of potential there, not least of which because I’ve watched a lot of actual-play DnD shows where druids have absolutely dominated through control of plants. 😆
This was an interesting question, thanks for asking it!

What do you think about Theo leaving to work with Argent (or someone else) all across the country before him and Liam have a chance to get together? Everyone grows up, finishes college, lives their lives, with Theo hovering at the edges; present for holidays and the brief interludes between trips, but never long enough. They're older now. They still keep in touch, but its brief. Finally Argents got enough, he's retiring, spending more time in beacon hills. Theo is back. Fully back this time. He doesn't know where he fits anymore. Liam is there but he's different, older, and yet he's the same as he always was. What would happen if Theo and Liam find each other again when they're older?
Intriiiiging. This has definitely come up as a potential idea before, and I’ve touched on it in very small ways in other fics (stood at the vista, telegraph wires and the expedition set out), but not to the level that I think would be necessary to really explore it fully, and not exactly as you’ve outlined it.
I do like the idea a lot, and I’m going to spend some time chewing it over and see what may develop. Thank you for the prompt!

Hello I've read abouttt 2/3rds of your teen wolf fics so far and they're all absolutely fantastic. They seriously hit all the spots. I've especially latched onto your interpretation of Theo and his various relationships, but also Alec and Nolan!! Oh my god they're actually so great.
Idk if you take prompt ideas or whatever but id love so see your take on the "person A is being mind controlled to hurt/kill person B" trope when it comes to Nolan and Alec. Or generally a fic that's focused on them again because seriously I wish there were a 100 more of those written in your style. I may be obsessed. Oops
Thank you! I’ve definitely hit a groove with some pretty well-established characterizations of the various TW personalities, so I’m glad they resonate with you—they very clearly resonate with me. 😊
I do love me some Alec and Nolan. I glanced off of this topic in dredging the ruins (full moon and Alec’s newness to being a werewolf at fault there), but I wouldn’t say I’ve done a full exploration. I’m intrigued! I’ll think it over, and see if anything sparks!
Thanks so much for the wonderful note, and for the idea.

I honestly have no idea how the sword/Skinwalkers prison works but imagine a new foe has another sword, and they want to get Theo off of the board because he's too difficult for them to get around by fighting or tricking or distracting or whatever so they can get to the McCall pack, so they send him back to the Skinwalkers prison just go get rid of him. When Liam finds out he immediately gets a sword (wether he takes the sword the badguy used or rebuilds the one he broke) and is like "I'm going to go and get him, you can come with me if you want" and a group from the pack goes into the skinwalker prison to get him out BUT Theo's stuck again in the endless loop of Tara killing him again and again so when he sees Liam and the others he just thinks that they're part of the prison who's come to kill him as well and he has to reckon with the idea of being killed by Liam and they have to convince him that they're real... (I don't know who the group would be. Definitely Liam. Maybe Scott because he would feel responsible for a member of his pack. Maybe Corey, because he's got those weird traveling powers. Maybe Lydia because, doesn't she have a connection to death or something?? And I think Alec would also come even though everybody but Liam tells him not to because I don't think there's a single way in hell that anybody is going to stop him from helping Theo.)
Interesting. I explored this a bit with pay attention to the accident, but not exactly in this way of Theo thinking that the pack was there to join Tara in torturing him.
I’ll think about it a bit, and see what I may be able to come up with, thanks for the idea!

You’re probably my favorite writer ever. Your details, dialogue, story line, I could just hug your mind (that’s weird sounding I’m sorry).
Never let your love for writing die, please. 💜
-The positive anonymous person 💜
With my extreme apologies for the delay (life really hasn’t let up), thank you so much! Writing has really been a refuge for me throughout the years, and it’s been so wonderful to find that it has become the same for some of my readers. While definitely in hibernation at the moment due to, well, life, my love for writing has very much not died, and I hope to be able to write something new here soon.
Thank you for the wonderful note, and for very much being a positive force in fandom. 😊

i was rereading all waves desire the storm and i can't help but love your metaphor of theo placing himself in a trap by staying in beacon hills. he did try to leave, just once, but after he stays he knows that he can't leave because argent(but also liam). but staying means that he has to live surrounded by all the people he's hurt. he's also afraid of what argent and the sheriff could do to him.
but to liam, it's just so natural? theo's not placing himself in a trap, he's just staying with the pack and helping find monroe. as it should be. and theo really did want to leave and doesn't. to theo, he's doing something incredibly difficult, staying in one place and not having a goal of manipulation. but liam is trying and failing to understand how hard that can be for him.
the conflicting views are part of the reason i love your works so much. thank you!
Yes! All of that, exactly! I love, love, love contradictions like that, that simultaneously manage to be true because each person’s reality is subjective, even if the “objective” facts are the same. And it ends up being so revealing of who each of them are, at the end of the day: the ability to reverse-engineer them from what seems like it could be such an innocuous decision (Liam) to a monumental decision (Theo), and start teasing out how they could to be the people they are today.
Anyway, this was a lovely analysis to get. Thanks for taking the time to make and share it. 😊

so one of your recent asks made my brain go down a rabbithole of wondering about theo's education. He obviously knows biology because of the dread doctors, but what about other subjects? if he'd go undercover to other schools he'd have to know a fair amount about whatever class he took, right? does he know calculus or read classics? does he like history(or just like hearing liam talk about it)?
does he ever graduate high school or go to college? does he just get a GED or not even bother?
because he probably knows a lot about supernatural things and is probably uncomfortable sharing how he got that info, but he knows that knowing these things is keeping him 'useful' to the mccall pack.
what's your take on this?
Hmm. I think probably it cuts two ways: one, Theo would view his set of knowledge as a resource that he’s “trading” to the pack in exchange for being allowed to continue being around/with them, and two, it’s something he’s ashamed about so doesn’t try to oversell or draw too much attention to it. In a similar vein to two, but as part of one, I think he might also hold back on making it obvious exactly what he does and doesn’t know, so that the pack (and Argent in particular) can’t assume they know his full value, and potentially find other sources of it or “exhaust” it. They have to keep him around just in case he knows something that he hasn’t admitted to, or that they don’t realize they need yet.
Of course, no one in the pack would think of it like that, and would be appalled to know that he’s thinking of it like that. I think, too, that Scott and some combination of the pack parents/adults would feel strongly that Theo should finish out his education, and push and or make him do it. I’ve written before where they essentially send him back to school as an assignment, but also so that he does in fact have to finish it out. They don’t view his knowledge as something toxic, though I think if they knew he did, they’d…try and do something about it, whatever that something might end up being.

Thanks for all you write! I hope your life manages to calm down enough that you can get back to writing. Good luck on your 100th fic!!

So I know it's been a while but I have a teen wolf prompt for my favorite teen wolf writer if you're willing?
Theo gets kidnapped by someone who wants revenge against him for the dread doctors and the pack doesn't know. No one believes Liam or maybe Corey about how there's no way Theo would just leave so somethings wrong. Until they get a video or see something online that shows Theo being tortured. Then it's a matter of trying to find him. With guilty alpha Scott for not realizing a member of his pack was taken (and potentially homeless?) and doesn't even realize he's pack. And self deprecating Theo cause he doesn't think anyone will come save him.
I live, sort of! I will probably sink back into obscurity almost immediately after, because things have not gotten less crazy, but sticking my head up for a moment…
Interesting. I could see something working where it’s less that Theo just randomly vanishes, and more that he’s supposed to be gone (on a job for Argent or something, maybe), but then he’s gone too long, and Liam (/Corey) are the ones with the feeling that something more has happened.
I don’t know when I’m actually going to be able to get back to writing, but I’ll keep it in my mental pocket in case something sparks!

Thank you! This is so incredibly sweet, and really appreciated during a relatively crazy time in my life when I haven’t been able to really even think about sitting down and writing.
But I do intend to get back to it, and messages like this are a big reason why. 😊
i had a request to share kind words for @eneiryu .
this is also one of my personal favorite authors of Thiam. i love the way you describe things, your writing comes across very life like, just like i can imagine the scenes perfectly in my head.
you know you are a good writer when your words come to life in your reader’s head.
i hope you never stop writing thiam. as long as you write thiam you will always have my support and attention.
