thinking about it, I think there's a part of himeko that is actually afraid to connect with new people on the planets the Astral express visits. as much as she loves & longs for the interaction and knowledge she can gain from others, she is very much the type to want to keep eyes on the people she cares for at all times: not because she thinks they can't handle themselves, but because she is always a little bit fearful that the moment they part will be the last they share together.

himeko might like her coffee best when it’s just straight up bitter, but that’s mostly because she likes eating small sweets alongside her drink. usually it’s just tiny butter cookies, but sometimes she’ll have some chocolate that she might even mix into her cup. she also likes milk & cookies when her sweet tooth is really bad

What an honor it is to receive the respect of such a dignified young woman , to be entrusted with something that many would see as grossly unimportant for one now carrying the weight of a world on her shoulders . Honored as she may be , Bronya's eyes say more than any words or explanation can : they are heavy with tears longing to fall , sorrows that she only allows herself to release in the lonely hours of the night . It is something so familiar to Himeko , but she will not allow herself to overstep what Lady Bronya may be too pained to confide .

sneaks into himeko's room and holds out a book. it's one of the latest foxian, trashy romance novels that just released on the xianzhou. midnight bookclub hours?

The visit is clearly quite the surprise , for Himeko finds herself nearly tripping over her own two feet when book meets her line of sight ! Quick to recover , and raise a hand to fan away the creeping embarrassment threatening to present itself upon her cheeks , she regards the offered book with a curious stare .

‘ Oh ! This … ‘ Well , she almost settled the flush in her face , but she’s just realized what the contents of book may contain .

Not... very great. She has no siblings, and Himeko never felt very accepted by her parents. They never really spent much time together; so much so that it felt more like she was living with strangers sometimes. It's part of why she dedicated so much of herself to her work & studies. She felt alone, and it was the best way to keep herself busy & keeping her mind off of that.

Fight is her default, but she also knows when it's best to avoid conflict. Sometimes... she can be a little hotheaded, which leaves her wanting to completely ignore that rationality.

She does!! Normally, she prefers to read nonfiction; she likes to think she absorbs information like a sponge, buuut she tends to have to frequently go back to books that may pertain to a certain topic she may need information on (though, a lot of it is also due to the fact she wants to make absolutely certain she has the right information in mind.)

She also... has a guilty pleasure for romance novels. She would never be caught reading one, and usually saves them for long after everyone else is asleep. She's a bit embarrassed by it, because they do tend to leave her a bit flustered & feeling a bit lonely.

There IS something buried within the hunter's chest; though it'd never be indulged. Teasing, a kiss here &. there, engulfing herself in flames for another night, hopefully soon to come.

It is clear Tingyun's uncertainty and assumed indifference is welcomed as a new problem for Himeko to solve — an experiment in brews , creamers , perhaps even toppings to find Tingyun's perfect cup ! There is something so personal in one's favorite drink , after all : to be entrusted with such a discovery while receiving such flattery leaves her feeling honored .

... If not a little embarrassed .

i need to talk about himeko's interaction with hi3 himeko's sword because i've been thinking about it so much while listening to nightglow and im spiraling. ofc, the interaction is there as a little easter egg to himeko in the everlasting flames short, BUT i'm interpreting it into my portrayal in two ways.

the first is a "rebirth" that comes the moment himeko begins her work on rebuilding the express — for a literal interpretation, the fire could specifically be related to necessary tools used; however, i like this to be more metaphorical. the rebirth in the fire being the moment that a new purpose ignites a fire within her. as i talked about here, himeko felt incredibly lost up until the point she found the express and was able to successfully repair it. returning it to its home, the journey that was to come by doing such, became her new purpose: one that she will always face with a smile, no matter what the future may bring. in many ways, the warmth the express first showed her, paired with the unstoppable force of curiosity's flame, makes her life begin anew.

the second is in regards to the imaginary tree and will have some hi3 spoilers for those who havent played yet so skip this read more section if you prefer to avoid spoilery headcanon ramblings fndsjakf,

while it's never clearly stated what exactly happened to himeko, we do know she was lost in an imaginary space. the imaginary tree, ever expanding with its branches of different worlds, timelines, "bubble universes" swallowed up from the sea of quanta; as shown with otto, anyone who dares meddle with the tree will die, absorbed into the roots of the tree to potentially begin anew somewhere else. while one does not have to die to exist in another timeline or world (ie, bronya/seele/mei) there is a certain... finality when one is lost within the imaginary spaces. furthermore, it seems time within the imaginary trees branches does not have to follow a definitive timeline: one can be lost in one world, and be reborn again in another within seconds. one who has been dead for centuries can be saved in another timeline, another bubble, without impacting any of the others. though it is still mostly "speculation" based on VA similarities/story excerpts, luocha appears a similar case: another otto, whose life before seems incredibly vague and hidden in secrets (especially with the coffin. pls do not let that be my queen kallen i BEG of you mhy)

this just makes me think that himeko's death & that final moment we see in everlasting flames was sort of... like the last tie of her to that world being snuffed out. kiana would carry on her legacy, carry on that flame of passion for the world she had hoped her students would share. in that moment, the imaginary tree created life anew; the himeko we see now in hsr, completely unaware of the himeko that welt yang knew from his world, but with an overwhelming feeling that she does not entirely belong where she is...
