summary: In which clumsy Luke stumbles over his words and you.
author’s note: it’s been a while since i’ve been on this blog, but i had this idea, and i really wanted to write it hahah and i’ve never written anything as lengthy as this either, but hopefully you guys end up enjoying it! feel free to leave me some feedback! love you all!
Starbucks was packed. With the mainstream cafe being everyone’s go to place during the lunch hour, the line for coffee and pastries was nearly out the door. Luke just so happened to find himself on this line as it was the only nearby place he recognized. “Man,” he thought to himself “just remember, their macchiatos are SO worth it.” While dreading the wait (even though he was quite liking this feeling of normalcy) and trying to count the many people in front of him, Luke was suddenly interrupted from his thoughts by a group of middle aged adults who, he assumed we’re rushing back to work as well as trying to reach the exit. “Excuse me, do you mind if we just squeeze past you, you know, just trying to head out of here,” the business wearing adults asked him. Though bodies were pressed against bodies, Luke obliged and stepped backwards, attempting to leave a gap for them to walk through. At the same time, he collided backwards into you, stepping on your feet. “Jesus… I’m sorry, oh god. Are you ok?” Luke frantically apologized. Giggling at his sincerity, you shook it off, “I’m fine, don’t worry about it, really. It’s not like you did it on purpose.” How could you be laughing when he, the giant that he is, just stepped on you, a girl who was practically two heads shorter than him. The whole time he thought, “Way to go, Luke. Way to make a good first impression. You just stepped on her! There’s no way she’ll be into you now.” But through your laughter and your management to keep smiling at him, Luke realized he may still have a chance. A very slight chance, if anything.
“Lemme make it up to you at least! Maybe I can buy you a drink?” he offered. With that gleam in your eye that made him actually want to wait on this endless line (if it meant standing next to you) forever, you said, “You really don’t have to do that. It’s honestly alright.” Quickly snapping Luke back to reality, he reached the register, receiving the familiar, “Next in line!” from the barista. Before he knew it, he latched onto the your wrist, pulling you with him to declare your orders. Maybe it was the rush of adrenaline or the “now or never mentality” that caused his boldness? Whatever it was, he was sure glad it hit him like a ton of bricks.

Hooked (Part three)
word count: 1700+
summary: In which you and Luke do a lot of confessing
author's note: I hope you guys enjoy this one! This will probably be the last part of the "series!" I feel like they have progressively have gotten worse, but hopefully this one doesn't disappoint!
PART ONE and PART TWO
This time around, the five of you got suckered into watching The Other Woman. You could've guessed that it was Michael's turn to pick the movie and despite the many ugh's he got from all of you, nothing was coming between him and his current A-list celebrity crush, Cameron Diaz. But no matter the movie, you and Luke were just glad to be in each other's company, even if it meant Michael squealing/swooning over the film while Calum and Ashton attempted to record Instagram videos, trying to entertain themselves. It wasn't Luke's ideal plan for the two of you tonight, but he was completely stoked that the boys took such a liking towards you, a strong enough liking for them to want you to crash their lazy Sundays. He had to admit though, that a part of him just wanted some alone time with you. But, at the moment, he couldn't complain. With you sat in-between his legs, your back pressed to his chest, his chin on your shoulder, and your fingers intertwined with one another, Luke had never felt more content.
As the movie carried on, you couldn't help but feel the slight vibrations of Luke's chest while hearing little laughs escape his mouth. For someone who had such objection towards the film, he was surely enjoying it, perhaps it was cause Kate Upton, who happened to be Diaz's costar, finally appeared on the screen. "He's definitely got a thing for her, that's why," you jokingly thought to yourself. But for some reason or another, that one thought led to a bunch of others like, "What if this is just a fling? What if I made this out to be something bigger than it actually is. Typical of you, (Y/N), to make a big deal out of nothing. This isn't meant to be a long-term thing. Get your head of the gutter." You were all over the place and you had no reason why. Your thoughts and a mind of their own, taking you from one extreme to another. It wasn't long before they took you reminiscing about the day you first met Luke. You tried to remember moments from that day, especially the ones that reminded you that you weren't the only one who fell hard. You remembered how he almost broke your foot, begged to make it up to you, and then begged to take you out on a "proper" date. Thinking about the circumstances of how you guys met, you couldn't help but subtly shake your head and smile.
"What's the matter, babe?" Luke hummed when he noticed your slight change in movement. Not wanting him to know how fast your mind has been running for the past few minutes, you turned to look at him and placed your index finger near your lips, "Shhhhh," you teased, "we're watching a movie, silly!!" Trying to laugh it off and play it cute, you hoped Luke wouldn't bother to bring it up again. You hated any form of confrontation, whether it was big or small. It had always brought out those touchy-feely emotions that you weren't always the best at dealing with. Although you really did want to know what Luke thought about all of this, you couldn't bare to have that conversation.
To clear your head and shake off whatever brought on all these feelings, you mumbled something to Luke about how you wanted a glass of water before getting up and heading towards the kitchen. Opening up the cabinet, you got up on your tippy-toes to reach for a cup. In the middle of doing so, you felt a hand placed on your hip as they used their other hand to grab the cup that was far out of your reach and placed it on the counter. You spun around, finding yourself face to face with Luke. "Hi," he simply said to you, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. You responded with a similar greeting and a smile. "You alright?" Processing what he said, surprised that he can read you like the back of his hand, you gulped before saying, "Yeah, yeah, of course. Why wouldn't I be?" This was it. This was the type of confrontation you dreaded. You were mentally trying to prepare your escape route, but realized there was no use since he trapped you in between his body and the kitchen counter.
Note to self: You're a terrible liar, (Y/N). If you knew it, Luke definitely knew it as well. You could tell he was onto you the minute you tried to shrug it off like it was nothing. So with that, you grabbed your cup and moved towards the refrigerator, reminding him of why you ended up in the kitchen anyways, hoping he'd just decide to have this conversation another time. And by another time, you meant never. Unfortunately for you, Luke wasn't gonna let you off the hook that easy. Instead, he squeezed himself between you and the fridge, giving you those pleading eyes. "Hey, hey, look at me. What's the matter? You can tell me, you know that, right?" he was begging you. "Did I do something wrong? Was it something I said?" You shook your head. "Then what is it, (Y/N)," Luke urged. After taking a big breath, you decided to finally start giving some answers (helpful ones this time). Maybe it was the tone in his voice or the sincerity it in eyes, whatever it was, it had made you swallow your pride and just come clean.
"Ok, ok, fine. Look, I don't even know what's wrong, that's why I couldn't tell you before but all I know is that I was sitting with you and watching that movie and I've never felt so...I don't know...happy? But then all of a sudden my mind went all over the place and I started second guessing everything, as per usual. Like is this what you wanted," you confessed, "Is this what you intended or was this just meant to be a fling or something? Cause, I-I don't know...for me it wasn't. And what happens when you have to leave? You probably don't wanna be stuck with me, I mean why would you want to be? We've only known each other for almost a month or so...I-I don't know, I probably just made this out to be something bigger than it actually is and ugh I just...I'm a mess, I'm sorry." Word vomit. That's what that was. You couldn't stop, but now that you finally did, all you wanted to do was cover your face in your hands and pray that it would make you disappear, so that's what you did. Except the disappearing part didn't happen. Instead, you were being pulled into Luke's chest, his long arms wrapping around your small frame. "C'mere, c'mere," he said softly. You felt him rubbing circles on your back, trying to calm you down.
After what felt like forever, Luke pulled away from you before saying, "Listen to me, (Y/N). If you think being with you doesn't make me the happy, you're so so wrong. I didn't ever want to have to say this cause yaknow, it ruins my image," he smirked, "but the minute I get a text or call from you...I don't know, my heart does this weird flipping thing and I end up not even using that 'wait five minutes before replying rule' because to be honest, I don't care if it looks like I'm waiting for your text...I'm always waiting for when I get to hear from you next and I'm so damn excited when I do. Hell, that's not even the beginning of it. Do you know how many songs I've written too since I met you? You turned me into this sappy guy, (Y/N), and I don't even mind. So what if it's not the 'punk rock' thing to do?" You were caught between smiling, laughing, and crying. You weren't sure how you managed all three, but it was cause Luke definitely had his way with words. And to think he was the boy you met in Starbucks who couldn't get over stumbling over his words. You two had clearly switched shoes.
Happy that his words told you he felt the same way, Luke swiped his thumbs under your eyes, catching any remaining falling tears. Still caught up in the event of what just happened, you mumbled something to him about where you two should go from here, something along the lines of "now what do we do?" You couldn't help but rock back and forth on your feet while looking down, avoiding eye contact. "Hmm, looks like you're stuck with me," Luke smirked. Before coming off too sure of himself, he quickly added, "I mean that's ok, r-right? I just figured that since we laid everything out on the table tha-" Turns out you spoke too soon when you said that nervous Luke was long gone. So with that, you saved him from stuttering further through his words and pressed your lips to his. It was when you smiled into the kiss where Luke knew your feelings were exactly identical to his. Finally breaking apart from one another, he rested his forehead on yours before mumbling something barely audible. "What have you done to me, (Y/N)." As if the force of attraction couldn't be any stronger, Luke had his calloused hands cupping your cheeks, kissing you with nothing but affection. "Same goes for you, Hemmings."
Walking back to the living room, hand in hand, you and Luke returned to your spots on the floor with you sat in-between his legs and him finding comfort with his chin resting on your shoulder once again. Though your positions were the same as before, your feelings weren't. This time, you felt sure of yourself. This time, you knew you weren't turning this into something bigger than it was. This time, you were no longer second guessing where you stood with him. And as for Luke, he finally knew you liked him just as much as he liked you. He finally knew that when he kissed you, he wasn't the only one feeling as if he was on cloud 9. He finally knew that you were happy to be "stuck" with him in the same way that he was happy to be "stuck" with you.
In the end, you and Luke knew also knew one thing: the two of you were in fact, hooked.
a/n: well there it is! hope you all enjoyed reading! if you liked it, please don't hesitate to let me know!
