Rian's lips are naturally dark, blackened- why or how he doesn't know, only assuming it to be a part of whatever else he has going on like the roots-, but he still applies black lip paint. He started doing it as a child, fascinated by the makeup those in court would wear, thinking the black color would be easiest to work with considering his natural color already, and that it would fit his station better.
