Repost from @officialenvironmentalfacts “Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are very stable chemical compounds that circulate around the world as they go through repeated cycles of evaporation and deposition that can carry them far from their original source. When persistent organic pollutants are released in warmer climates, they evaporate and are carried by winds to cooler areas, where they condense and descend back to earth. They concentrate in biological organisms that ingest or inhale them, and cause a variety of problems including cancers, immune system dysfunctions, and birth defects (among others)”
