Being ace and hot is a nightmare sometimes, I met this guy in my neighborhood, we live literally 200m away from each other, he's funny and witty and a genuine delight to talk to, and YESTERDAY he makes it clear he's flirting so now I'm trying to figure out how to turn him down and also throw my single friends at him because he really is a great catch, but I don't eat fish so he's wasted on me.

So now I have to figure out how to say 'I think, based on your tastes, I have some girlfriends you might like and they'd love to take you home, doggy walking same time next week?' in human speak.

I think more historical fantasies and alt histories that have gay marriage be allowed should mess around with the societal implications of this. If your aristocracy allows gay marriage, why? As a release valve for inheritance problems, like monasticism was in parts of medieval Europe? As a way of removing your failchild from the line of succession by legally binding them to the failchild of your political ally, ensuring any offspring they both have will be illegitimate? How about a society where the lower classes are allowed to be gay but the nobility aren’t? Idk there’s just a lot of options that are more interesting than “homophobia just doesn’t real”

being poly falls into this funny category with being fat and a handful of other experiences where it's so antithetical to what Normal Upstanding People build their whole dignity and sense of self on that you being okay with and happy about it just slaughters their ability to insult you and all they can do is parrot neutral-to-positive facts at you and get enraged when you aren't hurt by them. "you let your partner fuck other people!!" yeah it's neat and sometimes i watch "your partner fucks other people in your bed!" yeah they usually help her change the sheets and then i get no effort clean sheet sleep "your wrists crease when you move your hands because your arms are fat!" yeah i know it's cute "your back is big!" yeah i know it's cute. this shit ain't nothin to me man
