The thing is, when museums and cultural institutions or researchers adopt memes in a "How do you do, fellow kids" way, that's adorable like my grandma when she's misusing emojis. However when some megacorp does it to sell me evil products or some influencer is trying to get me to buy nonsense skincare mud or cyberpunk looking face masks or weightloss pills, I think that's evil incarnate and their name goes into the Death Note (very mindful, very demure)

Got a new lease that starts in one month. Our current situation is my husband and I living with 4 other people (2 other couples) including one extremely toxic person.
Now that I've got one month left every annoying little thing this guy does is even more enraging
They just got back from a camping trip with their friends and they're all in my house on my day off, and using power tools in the garage right below my bedroom window at 9:30 am?!?!?
They keep leaving the doors to my home and our backyard gate wide open- completely disregarding my dog who lives here !
Like God help me, if I wasn't the queen of situational awareness, my dog could have run away like six times in the past 12 hours.
Haven't told our housemates we're leaving yet, but the fact that I can't go downstairs in my own home without first checking that the doors are closed-- that's not really my home then, and a huge reason I'm leaving.
After growing up in an environment exactly like this.. I've come up with my own tried and true rule- if I cannot put a pencil (or any other random objects) down where I live without it getting moved 20 feet by someone else within one hour: news flash that is not my home, it's someone else's space that I'm just in.
The feeling of sweet relief I will feel being alone with my partner and dog again cannot be overstated.
No one will be using a band saw at 9 am and pm. No one will be vacuuming at 9 am. No one will be loudly reorganizing everything in the kitchen at 9pm. Nonone will elbow telling me what I can and cannot store in our kitchens literally junk drawer.
This month cannot go by fast enough

The world's oldest story? Astronomers say global myths about 'seven sisters' stars may reach back 100,000 years https://phys.org/news/2020-12-world-oldest-story-astronomers-global.html
Holy shit, this is cool!
So many cultures call the Pleiades some variation of the "seven sisters" despite only having six visible stars. There only appear to be six because two of the stars are so close together as to appear as one.
The myths also mention one sister leaving or hiding to explain why there's only six. And based off observations and measurements, those two that are so close together used to be visibly separate. One literally has moved to hide.
And based off the similarities between the more commonly known Greek myth and the Aboriginal Australian myth, plus some other stuff, this myth could possibly even date back to when humanity still all resided in Africa!

I am by no means an expert but it seems to me “your body does not belong to you” is a major theme of right wing authoritarianism and, interestingly, modern USAmerican thinking. This underpins so much from abortion to forcing kids to hug their relatives. Your body belongs to the state, or God, or your husband, or your boss, or your doctor. Everything from trans and gay liberation to forcing autistic people to look in your eyes to making cashiers stand for no reason. Your body does not belong to you, but taking care of your body is your responsibility and your responsibility alone, and if you fail in some way, you deserve the consequences.
