The excitement dwindled as quickly as it appeared, replaced by nausea. ❝ don't use that word... ❞ hands clutched close to their chest, close to their heart. Hurt reflecting in their eyes.

You're a coward, Jayce. He's your equal. How dare you call him that. He trusts you so much only for you to try and hide him because you're worried about what some entitled rich people would think about you loving him.... That's what they wanted to say, but maybe he didn't know. Maybe he didn't understand the weight behind that word. Just one chance. Just one.

They bit their tongue and chose something else to say instead. ❝don't...don't call Viktor that...Don't call anyone from the undercity that... you have no right to call any of us that vile word, Jayce. How dare you... You're lucky I haven't slapped you..❞

“Well--yeah, I was. The ferrule broke off his cane, so I helped balance him back to the lab. It’s not a big deal.” Yes, it very much was a big deal because why the hell was that the first thing that came to his head? Broken ferrule? After finding Viktor’s hands to be so nice to hold? 

Come on, Jayce, you’re better than this. 

“Besides, Jingyan, I don’t see why you have to shout about it.” It’s probably a miracle he was able to remain straight about it, probably something to thank all of those horrendous public appearances for. “I was—just doing the right thing.” 

Yep... he’ll keep telling himself that.

They couldn't tell, not with that attitude at least. They huffed ❝ Though I don't owe you the explanation, yes, I have a successor. One who I chose very carefully.❞ It took two life cycles for them to choose a successor, they knew what they were leaving behind, ❝ I didn't make this decision lightly.❞

"I'm going to assume that you no longer have the artifacts?" Dan Heng demanded shrewdly, referring to the Orb of Abysm and Transmutation Arcanum. Truthfully, he didn't exactly care about the ship they'd likely left behind, but the idea of those precious heirlooms passed into the wrong hands wasn't something he wanted to see given the Sedition of his own past. Dan Heng's eyes narrowed slightly, regarding the other Vidyadhara coldly at that insinuation. "So, you have a successor, then? Someone who oversees the Fanghu's Plaguemark?"

Not really the reaction they were expecting, it had them flustered. They never expected everyone to know them, but to be so cold ? well, let's just say it made jingyan pause. They waited && listened patiently as the man before them nervously rambled on about what he does. How very fascinating, is what the singer thought right as he revealed a small, well loved book.

Maybe accustomed wasn't the correct word for this, as they never knew how to properly react when literally anyone referred to them as their favorite. The Vidyadhara smiled sheepishly. ❝ Favorite? Ah that's so kind of you. I would love to add to your collection ❞

They took the book into their hands, signing the dedicated blank space with their name with their own little note. They may have been a little nosy && took a moment to get a quick glance at the passage on the other page.
