Having ADHD means being perpetually behind the times. I was today years old when I learned that an author I’d long admired and adored had passed away. Gundam Wing was what got me into reading fanfiction in the first place and I’ve spend the last twenty years of my life enjoying fanworks in many and varied forms because of it.  There will always be stories that are close to my heart, ones I take back out every now and again, dust off, and re-read because I enjoy the read more and more every time. Sunhawk’s Ion Arc will always be one of those stories. Easily one of my favorite fanfictions of all time, it’s a behemoth (sneaking into my word document to count the words lets me know its nearly 850,000) and the love and care that went into writing it isn’t lost on me.  I regret that my interactions with Gundam Wing fanworks started at a time when we didn’t always have a way to easily let the author know we loved their stories. And I really, deeply regret never telling Sunhawk how her work has impacted my life. So here I am, doing it today.  If you’ve watched GW but never read her stories, pick one up. If you have the werewithall to read something that’s only just shorter than the entire Harry Potter series, pick up Ion Arc or enjoy Rhea’s amazing podfic of the entire! series on AO3. 

I know I’m no longer in the fandom, but in case anyone out there was unaware, or in case they haven’t had the chance to read this yet.

A truly lovely human has moved on to new adventures.
