INTRODUCTION

My name is Ereen Emiera binti Azrin Irzal. I'm currently taking Diploma in Communication and Media. The reason why I chose to study this is because this course covers a wide range of fields. So, as I'm studying, I can explore and find out my strengths and potentials, and the best field for me.

As for my future career, I would like to be actively involved in the social media platform, specifically Youtube. The reason is because I would like to produce my own content, based on my knowledge and creativity, as well as getting to showcase my talents, that will hopefully take the media industry to a higher level.

My interest includes going on adventures. For example, hiking, snorkeling, and travelling to new places. The reason why I love going on adventures is because I get to learn and discover new things. The experiences that I have so far are eye opening. This will also feed all my curiosities that I have in me.

Other than that, I also enjoy watching Youtube videos. For instance, healthy lifestyle videos, vlogs, as well as challenge videos. The reason is mainly because I get inspired and motivated to do what they do such as keeping a healthy lifestyle, and getting to know the Youtubers personally due to their vlogs.

Good leadership is one of the skills that I possess, specifically in driving the team towards striving our goals. For example, I’m currently the Vice President 1 of KDU Student Council. So, I always need to make sure that my team is always up to date, and excel in everything that we do.

I’ve also been told that I’m a good listener, whether it be from listening to instructions or hearing my friends’ problems. For example, my friends would always find me for advice or  just to rant.

As for my traits, I am a perfectionist. I always make sure everything goes as planned, which is not necessarily good all the time. For example, as the project director for May Orientation 2019, the event went as planned, and ran smoothly.

Besides that, I am also an easygoing and carefree person. I tend to not let other people’s opinions affect me in any way, because I believe in staying true to myself. I tend to express myself through wearing unique clothes despite the norm.

1. Concept

My concept revolves around fashion, as it is one of my biggest passions. I would like to raise awareness on sustainable fashion and it’s importance, to my audience.

2. Meet the Team

As for my Youtube channel, I am starting small by only hiring an editor as I am not an expert in editing videos. So, I have my editor, which is my own sister, Ereena Elieya binti Azrin Irzal. She has experience in editing a few youtube videos for other people using limited equipment and the result as I have seen beforehand is amazing. She also edited some videos for her school events.

I will be my own videographer. The main reason is because I would like to make my audience feel connected to me. So, by recording on my own, I would give my audience the perception of a ‘chill’ session, and actually feel like I am their own personal friend. 

3. Monetization

I will be using Google AdSense as the program for me to make money from my videos as it is the most trusted program for making money from websites. As for my earnings per video, it depends on the viewers’ activities.

There are two ways to make money from AdSense:

Impressions – this is based on the number of page views of pages or posts with ads

Clicks – this is based on how many people click on the ads.

4. Ads & Promotions

Nowadays, almost everyone has at least one social media that they actively use. So, I am using this as an opportunity to advertise my Youtube channel. Using my own social media accounts to promote, I do not need to spend money to promote my Youtube channel, at least not for now. Also, It is easier for my advertisements and promotions to be noticed by people. 

My main social media platform that I would like to focus on is Instagram. This is mainly because it is mainly used by the people of my generation. So, the chances of them being interested in my Youtube channel is higher. 

5. Goal

As for now, I am targeting to have a minimum of 5000 followers by the end of this year, 2019.

MY EXPERIENCES

I was the Project Director of KDU University College, Utropolis Glenmarie’s May Intake Orientation 2019, from 9 May 2019 till 10 May 2019.

I worked as a Full TIme Sales Advisor at H&M IOI City Mall, Putrajaya for 1 year and 8 months, starting from December 2017 till July 2019. Photo: Second from the right.

I played as one of the main actresses for a drama show by University of Nottingham’s drama club, Ignite, on 7 May 2016. It was held at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.

My ACHIEVEMENTS

I was appointed to become the Vice President 1 of KDU University College, Utropolis Glenmarie Student Council on 4 March 2019 for 2019/2020. 

I received a silver award from my high school, SMK Convent Kajang during Majlis Apresiasi Kokurikulum for my excellent achievement in co-curricular activities in 2016.

I received an appreciation certificate for volunteering in Karnival Kreatif, district of Hulu Langat, on 1 April 2015 that was held at SMK Convent Kajang.

REFLECTIVE WRITING

Throughout my whole life, I’ve had many experiences and achievements from different aspects. From working as a sales advisor in the customer service aspect, to becoming the VIce President 1 of my college. I believe that I have discovered and learnt a lot about myself. My past experiences have taught me that if I believe in myself, anything that I dream of is possible. Gaining confidence was the hardest thing to do for me, growing up. However, I kept pushing myself, even when other people think that it is just as simple as joining or participating in small competitions. My confidence level now has developed and grew. Although I still have minor anxiety before any events, competitions and more, I still manage to push through and make it successful. My past experiences have also taught me that it is okay to make mistakes, because that is the most effective way to learn, especially in life. I remember during my time working at H&M, where I would always refer to my colleagues and managers right after making mistakes. In the end, I was offered to become the Visual Manager for the store. Unfortunately, I chose to pursue my studies. Overall, I am very grateful to discover many things and gain a lot of fun yet meaningful experiences that contribute to what I have now become.
