Cadet Eren Jaeger is always a nuisance whenever he visits their Queen Historia according to the castle servants, he makes her act unladylike. He makes her snort unattractively in laughter. He makes her push and shove and rough house with him. He makes her sneak out all hours of the night and get up to mischief in the gardens. He makes her forget her lessons to cozy up with him instead. He makes her inclined to let him do scandalous things to her. But most of all, he makes her happy, and so no one says a word.

Eren and Historia

Historia is feeling abandoned by Ymir. She’s been stripped of her “Krista” identity. She’s tentatively exploring who she is apart from the things that have protected her for so long. 

The first person she opens up to is Eren Jaeger. He doesn’t reject her for her dark and honest thoughts. He tells her he prefers it. That would mean the world to someone who’s been rejected her whole life.

I was talking with @aotopmha and we agree the relationship between Historia and Eren is one of the more underrated in the fandom. They were together through the most horrifying chapter of their lives - Historia when she faced down her father and Eren when he learned the sins of his. The walked out changed people. Historia emerged stronger; Eren begging for death and stripped to the core of his being.

Through the most emotional of circumstances, with odds stacked against them, they stood together. Their time in the cavern is theirs alone. No one else witnessed the emotional manipulation, the pain, the tears and the hopelessness. Historia alone understood the reasons for Eren’s despondency in the chapters that followed. She was instrumental in pulling him out of it.

What’s more, she’s entrusted him to carry the coordinate power that had been in her family for 100 years. She rejected the family she craved for so long, and put her faith instead in Eren Jaeger.
