Taking timelapse pics has always been a part of documenting my art practice. For each of my installations I have hundreds of timelapse pics that typically sit in a folder never to be seen again. I’m taking some time in between projects to work on a bunch of miscellaneous ideas, one of which being to do something with all these timelapse photos. If you’ve ever worked with lots of timelapse photography you know that it can be a pain, especially if there are lots of starts and stops, changes of camera position, and dead space where the camera is left running even though nothing is happening. So started coding a small app that helps deal w these things and makes creating timelapse vids a lot less painful. So be prepared for lots of behind the scenes making-of vids as I revisit past installations and work to hone the software. Here’s a quick one from my Enter the Machine install at the Made in New York Media Center in Dumbo, Brooklyn from 2018. This exhibition was installed from 2018-2020 when the media center closed due to the pandemic:( . . . #timelapse #makingof #bts #installation #enterthemachine #etm #data #datavisualization #files #folders #onemanshow #digitalart (at DUMBO, Brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/p/CL2F_RZlZ5q/?igshid=5h60nk8yaydg

Finally got around to building a new desk! My desk has always been in the “living room” ever since I started living in apartments, which means I spend a lot of time looking at it and wondering how it can be designed better. As someone with a very above average number of hard drives and such, here are the problems I was trying to solve: how to avoid a rats nest of cables on the floor, how to comfortably (dare I say elegantly) store and power ~15 individual devices (computer, hard drives, speakers, usb docks, etc.), how to move all that easily when needed #apartmentlife, how to provide backlighting to ease eye strain. Desk consists of two custom pieces build around a @fully_us #standingdesk chassis. Bottom part holds two levels of devices and supports 24 electrical outlets. Top part has three open “drawers” in the front and a @philipshue lighting system in the back, with an acrylic like material separating the two. And yes it can change colors bc why not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Top measures 48” x 24” x 5” Bottom measures: 48” x 17” x 18” . . . #diy #desk #woodworking #standingdesk #illuminated #furniture #illuminatedfurniture #hue #makingof #timelapse (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLkP_rWFUGj/?igshid=1sgs4arqkku9v
