Had an awesome ride on Mr. Sully today!🥰 Thank you to @zips.top.eventing for sharing your boy with me!! 🦄 Even though I got to the barn early, it was still REALLY hot in CT today! 😓 We took it easy in the large hunt field, and worked on being long and low in his gaits. After some quick work, a lot of breaks and walking, we took a stroll down the farm road and into some of the XC fields to cool out. 😊 ➡️Check out a relaxing clip from our cool down on IGTV! 📺 #viewfromthetop #sullyman #zipstopcommodity #baysfordays #eventersofinstagram #frazierfarm — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2JFPt9W

I’m so glad I came across this post from @huntsmen_and_hounds 😍 Alignment is something I’ve been working towards for the past few months. I’m the type of person who wants to be the best at almost everything I do. What I didn’t realize, was that the pressure I was putting on myself everyday was taking a toll 😶Mentally 🤧Physically & 😩Emotionally Now that I’ve realized this, I’m learning how to listen to my body, put my needs first, and dose out my ambition in a healthy way. It’s a struggle to find balance, no matter what you do in life, but it’s so gosh darn important. You don’t have to be the best, most perfectest you every moment of every day! Always remember that! 💙💖💙🦄 — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/2JXdpWP

What Thrush Is and How It Effects Your Horse
*I encourage you to always check with a Veterinarian for professional opinion.*
Have you ever picked your horses hooves, and found a black, gooey, smelly substance has suddenly appeared?   Well that my friends, means your horse has thrush.  Not to worry!  In this article I will discuss what it is, what causes it along with how to prevent it, and how to treat it.
First of all, let’s figure out what thrush is exactly.
Thrush is a bacterial infection, commonly found alongside the frog of your horse’s hooves.  The frog is the triangle of strong tissue located in the middle of the hoof, which acts as a cushion for your horse’s hooves and legs.  Since thrush is a type of bacteria that likes to live in dark, moist places that don’t get much air, the frog area becomes a perfect place for thrush to live and thrive.  In some cases, the bacterial infection can become so bad that your horse may experience discomfort, or even lameness.
What causes thrush and how can I prevent it?
This unpleasant bacterial infection can happen to anyone’s horse, but there are certain steps you can take that will decrease the chances of your horse becoming infected.  Horses that are constantly in wet conditions, do not get exercised frequently, or do not get the proper care from a farrier, are much more likely to get thrush.  Horses that are stabled in clean, dry conditions, have a good exercise routine and proper care from a farrier are much less likely to get this demon foot sap.  Picking your horses hooves twice a day also reduces the chances of having these issues, so make sure you are consistent about your grooming routine!
Well that’s great, but now how do I treat it?
Treating mild cases of common thrush is luckily fairly simple, and there are a wide variety of products on the market to suit your needs.  The first step is to either purchase or make your own cotton swabs.  You can make a very simple swab by applying loose cotton or gauze to the end of your hoof pick.  Next, soak your swab in Hydrogen Peroxide solution, which will kill the bacteria.  Nice.  Now, using your trusty cotton swab, swipe the solution along both sides, and up the middle of the frog, while applying a small amount of pressure.  This will allow the medication to get into the nooks and crannies of the frog and hoof.  Your cotton or gauze will get darker as you clean, and you should repeat this process with new cotton or gauze, until the swab shows little to no discoloration.  Finally, you may apply the correct commercial solution for your horse’s severity of thrush.  Thrush can sometimes come back, and you may need to repeat this process more than once. If you have tried these methods, but have not seen any results, your next move is to call your farrier or vet and schedule a visit.  There are multiple strains and severities of thrush, and your horse simply may require a different strategy or medication.
Final thoughts
During your horses daily grooming, make sure to keep an eye on the health of your horse’s hooves, as they are a very important part of your horse!  Be sure to pick your horses hooves twice a day, provide clean and dry bedding along with regular exercise and routine visits from the farrier.  If you make these suggestions part of your daily routine, you can greatly decrease the chances of your horse getting thrush! I hope you found this article to be helpful.  Remember, your vet and farrier should always be willing to answer any questions you may have, as well as provide their recommendations for the right products to use for your situation.  Happy riding everyone!

Here’s a throwback to my very good girl, Annabelle, my adopted Shepard/Rottweiler mix. 😍❤️ She was the first dog we had as a family that was “my dog.” She was always a super good girl, and used to come riding with me! She would sit or lie down in the ring, follow me around the ring as I did figure 8’s, and would follow right behind Jett and I on the trail. She even used to come to work with me which is where I took this picture of her. Miss you little girl!! . . . #adoptdontshop #annabanana #rescuemutt #lazygirl #goodprotector #travelbuddy #workingdog #greatcuddler #myfirstdog #loveheralways https://www.instagram.com/p/BsA1sVBlHMo/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=8ka00ndg9a44

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas time squirrels! I’m so excited to spend time with my friends and family tomorrow. What ever you celebrate, I hope you and your family have a great holiday! You KNOW a pony is on my gift list every year. I was fortunate enough to get Jett for Christmas years ago. It’s a feeling I hope every young rider gets to experience at least once! Heres a little throwback to working the Mur-Dog in the snow. I’ll have to find and post the GoPro videos from this ride too for you all. I think it might be the ride where he tripped and fell and I got catapulted off! 🤣🤣 . . . #viewfromthetop #murdog #bundleup #murphyman #aintnosnowgunnastopme #frozenring #goodfluffywinterman #fromthebackofablackhorse #blackhorse #pmufoal #lookingforaresontofreakout #frazierfarm https://www.instagram.com/p/BrxTyq9lxlb/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=9k8e8g3wppy7

🐴 Murdog always loved to poke his head out of the isle while we were tacking/untacking. He’s a curious boy who still loved to hang that big head out there, even in the snow and rain. Mr. Mur-Dog and I at a Frazier Farm Jumping Derby. He was certainly a “kick ride” as in you constantly had to encourage him to go forward, and balance his own body weight. If Murphy was a fictional, human character, he would be The Dude from The Big Lebowski. He really never wanted to do much except escape from turn out at night, eat, play with his friend Carlos, and maybe walk around under tack. I still loved riding him though!! 🤣❤️🐌 #kickride #sweetboy #didsomeonesaycookie #jumpingishard #xc #littlejumpsarestillhardwork #moveyabody #ridingishard #murdog #murphy #blackhorse #horsesofinstagram #pmufoal #instahorses #frazierfarm #lovethisboy https://www.instagram.com/p/BrGmQcXFlH-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=yrwmzx4jr7gh
