I like the headcanon, that Finrod is a snake person. He probably likes animals in general, but I like to think that he had some snakes, maybe something like smooth snakes (also called copper snakes in some languages). And as someone here on tumblr said, Finrod is surprisingly snake coded, which seems funny to me
