Frutiger was searching for scrap for her projects one day when she uncovered this sleeping dormant robopony! she fixed her up, cleaned her, & when she came back alive, it was like she'd found her own new best friend!

Dawn Cats!
A feline species I made up, they're the Ancients (ancient tribe) from Jayfeather's time travels!
Big, powerful cats, living around the Lake Territories in three separete grups (tribes). It wasn't clearly stated in the books if the grup Jay meet and traveld with to the Mountains was only one Tribe or all of them (or at least I don't remember that 😅), but I hedcanon that the Dawn Cats were already at the dusk of their society during po3. After a series of epidemies and internal conflicts, their numbers declined drasticly, and their Healers desided to mearge into one grup. The Twolegs showing up at the Lake was only a final nail in the coffin, and made the already existing thoughts about leaving their home more urgent. After that, you know the drill, Jay's Wing/Feather shows up, the Tribe votes go or stay and they travel to the Mountains. Forming the grup known as the Ancient Tribe and later giving rise to Tribe of Rushing Water, ThunderClan, ShadowClan, WindClan, RiverClan and SkyClan.
Geneticly they're sitting somwhere at the base of the F. catus (and cousins) family tree (the wildcats/felis silvestris) Closer to the ancient wildcats then our domestic goofballs, but still able to hybridize and have fertile offspring. They're the resoult of an alternative timline in which the ancient humans who crossed the Bering Strait and later went to become the Native Americans, brought their own primitive wildcats companions with them (assuming they had any). Those kitties later diverged into many other subspecies, but nearly all of them faced extinction, leaving only a couple still standing. The original Dawn Cats went extinct through hybridization with domestic cats, forming the Clans. The closest (geneticly speaking), and the last still alive in the u.s subspieces of the Dawn Cats are the Tribe of Rushing Water (still clasified as critically endangered though). The other desendants of the 'first kitties' are the Sisters (I'll talk about it in another post) also clasified as CR, and the Wildcats, that are still just your typical Felis silvestris grampia, but now living in North America. Becouse Erins writed Ivypool's Heart already after I made the USwarrior catsAU. (well, I have to work with what they gave me 🤣).
------
It's more like a guideline I'll loosely base my new batch of designs off on, then anything super serious, I don't like restricting myself too much when drawing XD.
I'm planning on dropping a bigger post where I'll cover Dawn Cats history and culture in greater detail, so stay tuned!
disclaimer: I know that people who crossed the Bering Strait were hunter-gatherers and didn't really needed cats, but this addition would just be cute and help me ground my rewrite a lot :D

I've realized what one of the flaws in the series is now that's a more subtle flaw.
Aside from Purdy... No one has a "way of speaking". Everyone sounds the same. So much formal speak is used now, and mind you with cats in leader positions I imagine there would be an expectation of sorts, I can't imagine Mistystar accepting anything less than PERFECT grammar.
But a cat like Graystripe? He'd love weird contraction words! Man says "y'ain't" unironically!
Dovewing using big words and long complex phrases until she leaves Thunderclan and challenges herself to use as few words as possible for a while to break the habit...
Hollyleaf The Nerd accidentally taught her the habit in the first place, mind. Get a chair and some water when Holly gives a speech, you'll be there for a while.
Jayfeather on the other hand? Learn to speak grunt.
Lionblaze picks up mannerisms from EVERYONE. Slang from Daisy and Berrynose, a little "y'know?" From Cinderheart, and you can catch him say "um" the same way Leafpool does from his brief time as Cleric apprentice.
Squirrelflight would often speak too quickly so sometimesshetalkslikethis...
Hmm... Bit hard to read.
I'll-write-it-like-this! Squirrelflight!
Skybranch (Twigbranch) stumbles over words and tries to pick them as carefully as possible. A-uh A lot of the time, she'll kinda talk like this? I think, uh, I think that's good. Right? Yeah. Should be okay.
Where cats like, say, the aforementioned Mistystar, take a very high-class tone. A cat like Mistystar would not lower herself to using foul language, like the Thunderclan warrior, Spotfur. There would simply be no need for it.
And Spotfur thinks that that's badger bullocks! Swears express your passion, dammit!
But... Yeah. The way people speak and talk, tells you a LOT about them.

So I recently found a pristine copy of Enter the Clans at an Antique Store. I’m picking through it looking for every mistake I can nitpick over (don’t worry, you’ll have to deal with that can of worms soon enough), but there was a very INTERESTING passage on page 100 I think more people should know about:

Okay so obviously there’s a lot of problems with this passage, ranging from Rock apparently being mortal and the cats from the Lake being described as a Tribe. It can be safely assumed this isn’t canon anymore following Power and Omen, since those books have the Lake Cats going on to create the Tribe of Rushing Water, with their current hierarchy system being created THERE instead of being brought from the lake.
But THREE TRIBES! There are THREE TRIBES!!!
I KNOW this passage doesn’t matter after being decanonized but CONSIDER THERE BEING THREE GODDAMN TRIBES!!!
The real question is how would this fit into the current reality? I personally think that, sometime between the Tribe being founded and the Clan Founders splitting off from the Tribe, the Tribe actually split into three groups and this goes unmentioned by Dawn of the Clans because it’s like, not important enough to think about. Why is this unmentioned in the current books? Idk, why was it unmentioned in New Prophecy?
