Okay, it may be that you smartypants have noticed this, but I have only caught on to what it means really recently.

The reason why Bat Dad is a bat is because of his relationship with Ekko, or I might say with echo. As a matter of fact, bats use echos to guide themselves. Why? The reason is, and I quote, "to navigate and find prey, essentially 'seeing' with sound" (a really quick Google search, 2024). That's echolocation for you; it's also a practice that is described as really helpful for finding your way in the dark. And oh man, I'm crying.

Remember that Ekko is named like that for the echo (a reference for his z-drive). So, they are not only a really close friends or whatever you want to call their relationship; the boy savior is literally what makes Bat Dad keep going, because the boy is who leads his way, not only as the Firelight leader but in a little more personal perspective.

Imagine how the dude reacted when the little man disappeared. I can say my heart has been shattered once again by the creators of Arcane.

And oh girl, don’t make me think about what this statement means for the character of Ekko.
