well i wrote a multichapter fic (that i never finished) about pearl with each chapter title as a different lyric of that song. and i also made my own cover of that song as a school project and sat in the studio thinking about pearlescentmoon in order to project emotion in my voice. does that count

so i'm currently making character playlists because of the way that i am, and the problem with a lot of mitski songs that hit the hardest is that you can theoretically put them on anybody's playlist because they are so broadly applicable. they're like horoscopes. this is not a problem with the songs themselves, that's why everyone loves mitski, but the issue arises when you are a pretentious music asshole while making a character playlist. ohhh i should put abbey by mitski in pearl's playlist. ohhh i should put fireworks and crack baby and brand new city and remember my name. i'm giving in and putting i'm your man on the gempearl playlist but i deserve zero credit for this because it is the most obvious choice ever.

etho and bdubs when they're not teamed in a life series season are all like it should be you and me i would never betray you i built you a bedroom in my base i could never kill him because he would never trust anyone ever again they don't get you like i do i would fail my task for you is your new teammate treating you right etc etc etc. but when they're actually teamed it's like i hate my bitch wife why are you having fun with people who aren't me he said i should build my base out of this hard to obtain block and i'll complain about it the whole time but i'll still do it i'm doing things for the sole purpose of making you jealous i'll kill your horse just to see how far i can push it until you betray me let's have a session long dispute over a minor detail of our staircase design... they make me want to bash my head into the wall

I'm actually so worried for Jimmy next episode bc he's been doing so well but grian is gonna go on a fucking hunt for him to "avenge" Pearl, and if grian kills jimmy. I don't think I'll ever be the same

just ate a stale fry at work, threw the rest out, and immediately opened tumblr to see that tumblr user stalefries had just liked one of my posts

i'm already seething at the thought of how gem and grian are going to be able to control the narrative around pearl's death next session. putting my prediction here now: they'll continue accepting some blame for her death, but only in a superficial way that absolves them of the full truth of their responsibility. they'll target jimmy as revenge, probably successfully (though i'd love nothing more than for jimmy to somehow come out on top), and pretend like that's what pearl would want. they've done the right thing, redeemed themselves as teammates, taken down their enemies in pearl's name.

since everyone hates the villies, the rest of the server will probably reject this, but for the wrong reasons. other than etho, nobody else seems interested in separating pearl from the rest of her team.* most people are happy to lump her in with the other villies. the narrative around pearl has always been that she's dangerous, that she's a hardened killer, that they're all better off without her. the reputation of her team only cements that. why would they rethink their assumptions when all the evidence points to pearl being a monster?

*including pearl herself, for the record. pearl didn't seem to care for etho's funeral speech and assumed the worst of his motivations. the most heartbreaking part of all of this is that pearl will accept whatever story the villies tell about her death. they were her teammates, after all, and she'll be loyal even from the grave.
