Nothing to see here by Kevin Wilson is one of the best books I read these months. Although sometimes it is hardly make sense "children randomly combust", but it makes sense. You guys know what I am talking, right? 🥸
The storytelling is really fantastic. I really like the concept of children combusting literally as it is metaphorical. To you guys, who have children or to those who have experience in cohabitation with children, I salute you. I can't imagine how much trouble did my parents and siblings would gone through to babysit me until my turn to babysit 😊.
I can deeply related to Lillian as I am now being given the honor of babysitting my nephew (sometimes I literally wait for him to combust but alas nothing odd have happened yet 🧐)
This book is witty, quirky and odd yet beautifully written. My fav quote of this book is:
"Who would judge you?" she asked. "Who do you know who's done a good job? Name one parent that you think make it through without fucking their kid up in some specific way"

I started 2021 with Poet X and it blows my mind. I was meaning to read it long time ago but I'm glad I picked it up this year. It really deserve all the hype going around for this book.
Poet X is written in verses but don't let that discourage you. I rarely read or listen to poetry coz most of the time I feel like I don't get it. But the lyrical and powerful sound of Elizabeth Acevedo made me fall for X since the very first beginning of the book. 🥰
X short for Xiomara and her coming of age slam poetry diary is beautiful and heartwarming. As a teenager, X struggle with everything changing around her, her strict mother didn't help her situation either so she wrote down her frustrations, passions and everything going on with her life written into a leather notebook.
Along with X, we saw how X is trying to fit in this bitter world. X is not perfect and flawless but those imperfection and flaws of her character is the best fit for this book and for us to root for.
This book made you depressing but it would lift you up again in no time. The emotional rides with X is what I miss most of the time. This book is honest, incredible, beautiful, heartbreaking, yet very impactful.
I highly recommend to those who haven't read it and intend to read it! If you can, listen to audiobook told by Elizabeth Acevedo herself. You would not be disappointed!

First and foremost, rest in power to those who have to give up their lives to brutality of security forces. (At least 3 fatality) To those who are on the brink of live and dead and injured people, please know that our prayers are with you!
In international women's day, we should be celebrating this day instead we still have to grief again. As for today, we use Htamein (longyi, sarong) to protest against the dictatorship in many cities.
During last month and this, we see heroic women leading, participating and supporting the protests. Most of all, sacrificing their lives for us! Women have been on the front line, we had been brutally hit, unlawfully arrested, cruelly treated and drag out by the security forces but we have never back down. We never once said to the sons and daughters to not go to the protests. We never think twice to sacrifice to save others. We never surrender. We risk our all to fight against injustice. We never hesitate to give away our foods to the protesters. We are the first ones to participate in CDM. We are the ones leading the protests. We are the ones who are open to ideas and suggestions. We are fighting for equality for all and our democracy at the same time. We raised our three fingers when the protests pass-by. We never look away from injustice. As long as we live, the world will be a better place, kinder place, fairer place. We hold the power as much as the man. We are half of our population.
I want to not only honor the women who would be the role models of next generations but also the men who show solidarity and stand together to fight for humanity.
Today we use Htamein (longyi, salong) as our flag, our symbol for equality, to crash the patriarchy, to destroy the taboos! We are stronger together! We are not to be left behind! We are half the population! We play our roles!
I called out to those who believe women are less worthy, less spiritual power (bhone) than men - Shame on you!
No matter the genders, colors and beliefs, We Are Homo Sapiens! Equality for all is everyone's right!

Our Htamein ⚡ Our Flag ⚡ Our Victory
To the men who wear Htamein on their head, to show the people we are equal and Longyi did not make you less bhone (spiritual power) than those of women's. Thank you for showing your solidarity and humanity! Thank you for joining hands in fighting the long rooted patriarchy in our country!

So true!
I’m sure someones already said this but I often see Tumblr described as a hellsite. This is fundamentally incorrect.
Tumblr is the faesite. Everybody is super confused and lost, you keep running into random places. Somehow you end up stuck there forever after interacting a couple of times. The people are all strange, everybody simultaneously seems to be from the future and the past as if time is meaningless.

Karen M. McManus' - "never saw that coming" YA mysteries!
Tumblr media
Karen M. McManus thrillers always keep me out of reading slumps.
One of Us is Lying is my favorite ❤️.
One of Us is Next is the sequel I never knew I needed🤩.
Two Can Keep A Secret's last line keep me awake at night🤔.
The Cousins is the family drama that I've lived for☺️.
All of the endings make me realize I am not a good mystery solver as I thought. 😅
What is your favorite Karen M. McManus book?
What books keep you out of reading slump?

The Song of Achilles had been on my TBR for so long and I picked this for bookly winter readathon!!!
I'm very regret that I didn't pick this up sooner!!! 😓
Tumblr media
I really like how Madeline Miller retold Achilles and Patroclus' story.🤩 The Song of Achilles is heartbreaking yet beautiful. The portrayal of Achilles from Patroclus' view is humane and sympathetic. We get to experience the Trojan War and meet all the legendary heroes and kings through Patroclus. But it is Patroclus who proved again, and again that he is the best of them all.😊
If you haven't read this book, read it now! I can guarantee The Song of Achilles is an excellent read!❤️
To those of you who read it, leave your thoughts! 📝 Can't wait to hear from you guys! 😀

The stars are not wanted now, put out every one. Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun. Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood, for nothing now can ever come to any good.
