How to celebrate Janmasthami
Tumblr media
Janmashtmi The word Krushna is made up of 2 elements: Krush and Ana. Krush refers to authority with which one can control. Ana refers to the bliss and joy with which one can lead. And thus, Krushna is someone who can do both.
Janma = birth and ashtmi = eighth. Eighth day of dark fortnight of the Shravan month is celebrated as the birth of Lord Krushna, one of the most popular, most revered, most loved and most celebrated gods of Hindu culture.
Lord Krushna, born on the eighth day, was the eight avatar (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu and was the eighth child born to Vasudev (father) and Devki (mother). Vasudev and Devki were imprisoned by Devki’s brother, Kansa (king of Mathura) because of a prophecy that Devki’s eighth child would kill Kansa.
To save him from Kansa’s wrath, Vasudev escaped from jail that very night and dropped off baby Krushna at Vrundavan at Nanda and Yashoda’s place.
Thus, Lord Krushna, born to Devki and Vasudev in Mathura, was raised by Yashoda and Nanda at Vrundavan. Such were the events that took place before Krushna was even a day old!
Celebrating
People keep fast until midnight, decorate temples, prepare Jhankis and chant various cultural songs to signify Krushna’s birth. Along with religious pujas and rituals, people keep Ras Leela programs and Dahi-handi Utsav as well to make this festival more colorful and delightful. Janmashtmi is mostly celebrated quite literally by reenacting the birth of Lord Krushna at midnight. Devotees stay up till midnight and celebrate the birth of the little baby Krushna.

Lord Dattatrey (in Sanatan Dharma) had not one, but 24 gurus. One must respect anything or anyone that teaches something and the lessons we learn from the 24 Gurus are worth learning. Tap the link to see them. Mother is the first Guru for a child. She teaches us our first lessons. She continues to teach with compassion and utmost love. Father is our next Guru. He teaches us lessons of life. Teachers at school or acharyas at ashramas impart on us the knowledge - knowledge of different kalas, knowledge to earn, knowledge to learn, knowledge to know.

Bhagvat Gita - Arjun Vishad Yog is describing Arjun’s moral dilemma when he is standing against his own family. He is questioning Krishna whether it is right or not to kill the most righteous elders of the same family? He is scared and confused about the consequences of the battle and if he can go unarmed and get himself killed instead of being part of the heartbreaking results. Space science was studied, practiced and widely in use even during Vedic times. Examine the proofs, facts and implementation techniques from Vedic times.
What we consider modern science today may be modern from today's standards. But we have always heard about the planes in Ramayan times, advanced weaponry during Mahabharat times, explorations in macro space-level discoveries to micro molecular level Ayurvedic treatments. Were those myths or real?

What is Nyas and why do it?
Bhakti (devotion) in Sanatan Dharma is an essential element. There are 9 stages of Bhakti.
But even before you start, it is important to cleanse the organs and the senses with which you will practice. Just like utensils must be clean before making the food, tools of our body must be clean before practicing Bhakti. What are these tools - Read the article on Nyas on sameedh.com

Vedic Microbiology
Examine biology and microbiology as they were understood, studied and taught during vedic times.
In Mundaka Upanishad (1.1.4), para & apara vidya explained. The para vidya pertains to the knowledge, which is beyond the control of nature. Whereas, apara vidya is concerned with that, which exist in nature. In layman’s language para vidya tells us about the creator of the universe and apara vidya tells us about the creation.
Morphological Characteristics of Micro-organisms :
I) Cell Shape : Vṛttẩ ( व ृ ) means globular Sukṣama-Vṛttẩ ( सु म-वतृ )् means micrococci
Tumblr media
II) Cell Size : Anvo (अणवो) means atomic.
III) Motility and Flagellar Arrangement : Microbes creeps around the eyes, crawls about the nose and gets between the teeth. This is recorded in the Atharva Veda (5:23:3, 5:23:7). Also, motility of microbes is mentioned in Susruta Sanhita (6:54)

Among twelve Aadityas why only Vishnu and not other?
12 (twelve) Adityas represent 12 (twelve) months (according to Solar Calendar). But during the age of Rigveda, the speed of earth's revolution and rotation was more, hence they were divided into 8 months.
Tumblr media
Later, the speed of earth's revolution and rotation decreased and calculation of the time changed. Initially it was 10 hours per day and one year contained 124 days. During this period the sons of Aditi got added from 8 to 12. The distribution hence, was done once again and it has been mentioned in the Bhagvat Puran as given under this link: https://www.sameedh.com/inspire/vedic-gods--aaditya-vishnu
