My Thoughts: Secrets
I really enjoyed watching Cora and Tobit move forward from their strained beginnings to a blossoming relationship. However, secrets are usually not a good thing, and in Tobit's case, his definitely was not. While the story really drove home the far reaching repercussions of secrets, it also drove home the far reaching blessings of love, forgiveness and second chances making it a lovely story that is well worth the read.

Release Date: July 25, 2023
Genre: Christian Mystery & Suspense Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
Years ago, journalist- Emery Bishop survived the unthinkable. Now the single mother is heading home to her grandparent’s bed and breakfast in Kentucky to seek sanctuary. With a dark past looming all around her, Hickory Cove is the one place Emery has always felt safe. Only this time, Emery finds herself the center of attention she doesn’t know how to protect herself from. Corbin Peachy is the local game warden. Protecting nature is his calling and leaves a man little time for romance. But he is instantly drawn to the guarded journalist. Corbin’s protective nature wants to help her, but can his patience tear down the walls Emery has built all around her or will a string of recent murders send her running again. Emery has to decide if she is willing to trust the local game warden with more than just her heart
My Thoughts: Deep and Heartfelt Story
My heart completely went out to Emery Bishop. Having suffered very deep hurt and pain has put her always on high alert, and trust is not something she gives freely. When it comes to love, it's all about love for her son and family. As for romantic love, that's a definite no, no and no way. Emery has built huge walls around herself and no one is going to tear them down, or so she thinks.
As for Corbin Peachy, he is totally my hero. Although he has been through a different type of hurt and pain, it has not affected his wonderful and caring heart. However, it has kept romantic love far from his mind, and he plans to keep it that way, or so he thinks.
When Emery and Corbin meet, it's a very rocky start. However, things begins to change. Little by little what they thought they didn't want does an about face and they find themselves drawn to each other. Their story has romance, intrigue, faith and suspense that will have you smiling, holding your breath, sighing and going through a roller coaster of emotions. It is a truly deep and heartfelt story and one that I highly recommend you read for yourself.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to leave a review. All comments and opinions are voluntary and completely my own.

The Heart's Bidding (Amish Calling Book 1) by Kelly Irvin
Book Details:
Title: The Heart's Bidding
Series: Amish Calling Book 1
Author: Kelly Irvin
Publisher: Zondervan
Pages:
Release Date: August 1, 2023
Genre: Amish Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
Together, schoolteacher Rachelle Lapp and auctioneer Toby Miller must face their hardest battle yet: trusting God’s plan for their uncertain future.
At twenty-nine, auctioneer Toby Miller is a notorious bachelor. But his job keeps him on the road for months out of the year, and he knows no Plain woman could want a marriage that would force her to live and raise children alone. Thankfully, Toby’s content to dedicate his life to the family business, especially now that his grandfather is retiring. So why does his heart keep longing for something—or more specifically, someone—he can’t have?
Rachelle Lapp has already turned down two marriage proposals. Neither promised a future that would bring her more joy than her job as a teacher to Amish children with developmental disabilities, including her brother, Jonah, and Toby’s sister, Sadie. But when the parents’ committee votes to send her students to the English schools, where they will have access to many more resources, Rachelle finds herself out of a job. She’s forced to decide between pursuing her calling far from home and staying near to the man she can’t get off her mind.
As their families matchmake, Toby and Rachelle realize their jobs may not be all that’s holding them back from a future together. They both must learn not only to trust each other, but also trust God’s plans for them. But do those plans involve a lifetime together or them going their separate ways?
My Thoughts: Deeply Touched My Heart
Sometimes you read a book that just leaves you in awe of how deeply it touches your heart. Such is the case with Kelly Irvin’s The Heart’s Bidding.
First, you have Rachelle Lapp and Toby Miller. Each one has suffered through relationship issues in the past that have somewhat clouded their feelings on the subject of love and trust. They’ve also had situations in their work and families that weighed heavily on them and in turn had them facing some difficult decisions. All of this caused them to have some reservations which had an impact on their growing feelings for each other and their possible future. Following their journey completely tugged at my heart strings.
Next you have a wonderful cast of secondary characters, some of which were very special. This is a topic that doesn’t show up very often in this type of story. However, it is very clear that the author researched the topic extensively. The way she flawlessly detailed the characters’ dialogues, actions and reactions was so spot on that it made them feel like they were real.
Lastly there is another topic that rarely shows up in this type of story. That topic is about adults who never had their educational needs properly addressed in childhood and how it impacts them in adulthood. This too was depicted in such a realistic way that it deeply touched my heart.
Author Kelly Irvin has once again written a story that draws you in completely and touches your heart is a special way. It is one of love, hope, faith, trust and following God’s plan. It is a truly heartfelt story that I highly recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book. All comments and opinions are voluntary and completely my own.

A Hope for Healing (Secrets of Bliss Valley Book 4) by Jo Ann Brown
Book Details:
Title: A Hope for Healing
Series: Secrets of Bliss Valley Book 4
Author: Jo Ann Brown
Publisher: Love Inspired Trade
Pages: 352
Release Date: April 25, 2023
Genre: Amish Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
Sometimes the greatest act of courage is trusting your heart… After loving and losing the perfect husband, widow Rosemary Mishler can’t imagine ever marrying again. Yet the small Amish community of Bliss Valley keeps playing matchmaker—and the arrival of newcomer Gideon Wingard only makes things worse. But when a little Englisch girl is abandoned in her kitchen and is discovered to be her late husband’s child, Rosemary realizes that her perfect husband clearly had some secrets of his own… Gideon left his community to escape the matchmakers—only to stumble upon more. And he can’t quite steel himself against the pull of Rosemary’s somber gray eyes and his need to help her with the small kind who’s been left to her care. With his feelings for Rosemary and the little girl growing stronger every day, Gideon can see himself putting down roots in Bliss Valley. But is the hope of love enough for him to plan a future…and a family?
My Thoughts: New Discoveries, New Beginnings
Widow Rosemary Mishler discovers that her "perfect" husband may not have been so perfect after all.
Gideon Wingard discovers that matchmakers are a much smaller problem than getting sucked into the mystery surrounding his new landlady.
Little Braelynn discovers there is only one way to deal with her new situation, which she's going to make work for her, especially if it involves cookies.
As Rosemary and Gideon confront their new discoveries, it leads them to new beginnings, one of which is a special friendship that develops between them. In working together to find answers, they find themselves on a very bumpy road leading to even more discoveries that contribute yet another piece to the puzzle they are trying to put together. As they do this, Braelynn is in the background making her own discoveries that impact her relationship with Rosemary and others.
A Hope for Healing is a beautiful story of love, faith, forgiveness, and new beginnings. While that comes through in Rosemary and Gideon's story, it also comes through in the role that Braelynn plays. Their story will touch your heart making you smile at times, but also making you painfully sad at other times. It will also leave you with the reality of the message that no matter what our situation is, we can always count on God and His plan for us. In my humble opinion, that in itself makes this a definite must read.

Series: The Butternut Amish B&B Book 2
Author: Patricia Johns
Publisher: Harlequin Heartwarming
Pages: 260
Release Date: June 27, 2023
Genre: Amish Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
He wants security… She wants the chance to fly All single mom and soon-to-be commercial pilot Hazel Dobbs expects from her Amish B&B vacation is gorgeous farmland, fresh air and delicious food. No one mentioned handsome landscaper Joe Carter—or his irrepressible little girl. Suddenly Hazel sees the possibilities of a whole new family. But with her biggest dream finally on the horizon, falling in love looks like the ultimate crash landing…
My Thoughts: A Great Read
A single dad with a steadfast idea of what “perfect” is
A precious little girl with a void to fill and a knack for repeating what others say
A single mom beginning a new stage of life and about to fulfill a lifelong dream
At first glance, I wasn’t sure how the characters would click. Needless to say, little Lottie was a key player in many different ways. I loved how realistic the story was, especially with Lottie’s way of thinking, acting and responding. It was so spot on behavior of a child that age. It had me frustrated one minute, smiling the next and even laughing out loud more than once.
I also loved how Hazel and Joe’s friendship evolved and how honest they were in their conversations with each other. Their openness and honesty with each other was a breath of fresh air to observe as I followed their interactions and their growing relationship.
Lastly, I enjoyed the intrigue factor that was a part of the story. It added a lovely touch to understanding Joe better and also intertwined perfectly into Hazel and Joe’s story.
Great characters, romance, humor, and intrigue are just some of the things that make this wonderful romance one that I highly recommend and one that you will definitely want to read for yourself.

Publisher: Kensington Books
Pages: 259
Release Date:
Genre: Amateur Sleuth Mysteries/Cozy Mystery
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
Twenty-something Sissy Yoder never imagined herself running her Aunt Bethel’s café, but her help is needed, so she’s making a go of it. And she must admit that life in tiny Yoder has been anything but dull–she’s already solved one homicide—after being named the prime suspect in the case! Enjoying a peaceful respite after all that excitement, Sissy just wants to write her advice column, hang out with her loyal Yorkie, Duke, and procure some of local farmer Walt Summers’ scrumptious “To Die For” tomatoes for the Sunshine Café’s menu. But when the unsavory Summers–resented by just about everyone in town–turns up murdered in his garden shed, it’s up to Sissy to roll up her sleeves, dig for some clues, and weed out the culprit . . .
My Thoughts: Perfect Cozy Mystery
This was a perfect cozy mystery for sure! Sissy, Aunt Bethel and Duke make the perfect sleuths that kept me wondering "who done it" while keeping a smile on my face. While visualizing Aunt Bethel in a few of the situations had me laughing out loud, the mystery kept me guessing and took me quite some time to figure everything out.
A Murder of Aspic Proportions is a cute mystery mixed with a little romance and some wonderful characters. Add to that some great quotes and you have a real winner of a story.

But light-hearted Caroline Hartzler has other ideas. She practically falls in love with him at first sight. Caroline refuses to listen to the gossip that has followed Noah into the valley, or even to her own daed’s warnings. She’s taken with Noah and his gentle, generous spirit. In fact, he’s the perfect person to help her discourage an unwanted suitor—by pretending they’re courting. Yet the more time they spend together, the more Caroline must remind herself that their relationship is just a temporary ruse. But she’s not the only one struggling. . . . Secretly, Noah’s feelings for Caroline deepen more than he thought possible, helping him renew his faltering faith. But when rumors about his past threaten to ruin them both, they must pray that the truth leads them to the blessed union they long for . . .
My Thoughts: A Great Story
This was such a great story and one that had me connecting to its wonderful characters right off the bat.
While some may disagree, Caroline was an absolute breath of fresh air. I loved how she had a directness of saying whatever came to mind while also having such a deep and caring nature. That may sound like an oxymoron, but in her case it’s true. Reigning in her directness and impulsivity causes her some difficulty, but watching her grow in doing so was sometimes funny and sometimes painful, but also inspiring.
Noah touched my heart from the get go. There was some mystery revolving around him and his story, and I really wanted to find out what that was all about. Getting to know him and his story caused me moments of sadness, but also moments of joy, especially as I watched him and Caroline develop a beautiful friendship.
Noah and Caroline’s story kept me turning pages to see how their relationship would continue to develop especially when some unexpected issues crept in. However, a major highlight for me was a revelation that Noah experienced which was unexpected and left me completely in awe. I was touched beyond words as it had me reflecting on how great God’s love and faithfulness truly are. The story is a wonderful combination of many rich elements that deeply touched my heart and will stay with me for quite some time. I highly recommend it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
A Woman Cursed Plagued by a century-long family curse, Mammoth Cave Wildlife Conservationist, Josie McKinley has a reason to distrust strangers. But when a charming Warden arrives with a hundred-year-old photo and a dog, Josie must face the past chasing her to make room for the future she's been waiting for. Finding a mysterious secret room, an heirloom desk, and a hundred-year-old photo, compels Reed to travel deep into Kentucky cave country to seek out the family to which it belongs. Uncovering the secrets surrounding Josie’s great-grandfather’s disappearance will prove impossible as a stranger from the north decides the past is better off hidden in this page-turning romantic suspense novel.
My Thoughts:
The minute I started reading I knew I would not be putting the book down until I reached the end. The mystery factor and intrigue hit me right off the bat and that is all it took to keep me glued to the pages.
One of the things I loved is how author, Mindy Steele, gives just enough clues to make me think I know where the story is going and then it completely goes in an unexpected direction, which of course, spurred me on all the more.
I also loved the way the story moved from past to present at just the right moments and with just the right amount of clues to keep me guessing and keep me connected to see where it was going and what the characters were going through. I could not put it down.
As if the mystery wasn’t enough to catch my attention, the romance, faith messages and humor sealed the deal. Josie was something else with the burden she carried, making me feel extreme compassion for her. Reed was just plain awesome, and his caring and compassionate nature won me over from the start and completely touched my heart. Their blossoming relationship was a joy to watch. That along with the twists and turns of the mystery and the wonderful descriptions of Mammoth Caves the surroundings definitely made this a winner of a story that I could not put down, and it is definitely one that I highly recommend.
I received an ARC, but was not required to give a review. All comments and opinions are voluntary and completely my own.

A Deadly Wilderness: The Ties that Kill by Kelly Irvin
Book Details:
Title: A Deadly Wilderness
Author: Kelly Irvin
Publisher: Ally Press 2nd edition
Pages: 365
Release Date: May 23, 2023
Genre: Romantic Suspense
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
A frantic anonymous crisis center hot-line call propels counselor Susana Martinez-Acosta smack into the center of a murder investigation and a homicide detective’s arms. Exactly where she doesn’t want to be. Following the tragic death of her husband, she’s struggled to build a safe haven for herself and her son. That new world doesn’t include hit men and persistent detectives with dangerous jobs. An idyllic wilderness hike turns deadly when homicide detective Ray Johnson tumbles into a ravine and lands on a corpse later identified as the son of a prominent citizen. Ray works to solve the political hot potato murder before city leaders bump him from the case. His determination to find the man’s killer leads him from the wealthiest enclaves in San Antonio to the city’s dark underbelly, all the while trying to win the woman he loves. A Deadly Wilderness is a romantic suspense novel that will take the reader along on a tumultuous journey as the consuming need for material wealth drives a deadly wedge among family members who haven’t learned when enough really is enough. The journey ends where it began—in a deadly wilderness.
My Thoughts: Wow!
Mystery, intrigue and suspense make this a wow of a story. It grabbed me from the start and had me guessing all the way through. In the middle of it all was Susana and Ray’s story as well as that of some other supporting characters. Susana and Ray’s past comes front and center as it impacts where they are now in their relationship and where they end up. The story had me hoping theirs would end happily, but the twists and turns throughout kept me guessing and glued to the pages.
Some of the secondary characters’ stories involved some difficult issues. However, the author did a wonderful job weaving them into the story without taking the focus away from the main characters. She also did a fantastic job with the vivid descriptions of the settings and the addition of terms used by the characters. All of this added a sense of realism to the story which drew me in even more.
Romance, faith and forgiveness accompany the mystery and intrigue throughout. These elements kept me in suspense and on the edge of my seat up to the very end at which time all I could say was, “Wow! What a great story!”

My Thoughts: Great Story
Betsy and August have nothing in common other than the fact that Betsy wants to learn to play golf, and August seems like the perfect person to teach her. While golf provides a starting point for their friendship, they find that they have more in common than they thought. It was so sweet to see how they forge ahead in a friendship that blossoms into something more. However, challenges to their relationship appear in various forms resulting in difficult decisions that must be made.
Betsy and August captured my heart from the get go, as did their story. Alongside their story were other characters whose own stories intertwined with Betsy and August's story beautifully without overshadowing it. In each one the messages of love, family, overcoming fears, hope and seeking God's guidance shine through making this a wonderful and inspiring story. It deeply touched my heart, and I know it will do the same for all who read it.

Her Amish Patchwork Family (Hope's Haven Book 3) by Winnie Griggs

Title: Her Amish Patchwork Family
Series: Hope's Haven Book 3
Author: Winnie Griggs
Publisher: Forever
Pages: 353
Release Date: April 25, 2023
Genre: Amish Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
In this heartwarming Amish romance, a former schoolteacher and a single father discover a second chance at friendship, family, and love—perfect for fans of Laura V. Hilton and Marta Perry. Former Hope’s Haven schoolteacher, Martha Eicher, has always been the responsible one, putting her family first and caring for her widowed father and two younger sisters. But now they’re all happily married, and Martha isn’t sure where she fits in anymore . . . until she hears that Asher Lantz needs a nanny. Even though her childhood friendship with Asher ended abruptly years ago, when a misunderstanding drove a wedge between them, Martha offers her assistance. Asher is also feeling adrift. As a single father to his niece and nephews, he struggles to balance his new family responsibilities with those on the farm and in his workshop. He’s grateful for Martha’s help, but worries things will always feel awkward with her. Yet before long, Asher realizes Martha is exactly what his family needs, and he can’t imagine his home without her. Martha and Asher thought they were lost, but could they be right where they belong . . . together?
My Thoughts: Absolutely Lovely
What an absolutely lovely story! I was immediately drawn into an emotional connection with the characters and their story. I felt for Martha and Asher as the changes they went through with their family situations had to be difficult for them. When Martha takes on the task of helping Asher with his situation, things begins to take a turn. It deeply touched my heart to see how theirs turned from friendship to unexpected feelings, and I loved how the transition took place. The great secondary characters, especially the children, added a lovely touch to the story and had me smiling and laughing more than once.
Another thing that made this such a lovely story is how it drove home the message about misunderstandings. They can cause great hurt, affect relationships and can also cause one to carry a heavy weight on their shoulders unnecessarily. It also drove home the message that through honest communication, trust, and forgiveness, healing is possible and misunderstandings can be overcome.
Great characters, great message, and a touching storyline are what make this such a lovely story and one that I highly recommend.

About the Author: Winnie Griggs
Winnie Griggs grew up in south Louisiana in an undeveloped area her schoolmates considered the very back of beyond. With her two younger siblings and another family of three siblings for playmates, she spent many an hour exploring the overgrown land around her home, cutting jungle trails, building forts and frontier camps, and looking for pirate ships on the nearby bayou.
Once she 'grew up' she found other outlets for dealing with all those wonderful, adventurous, imaginary friends by filling notebooks with their stories. And somewhere along the way, those scribblings gave way to full length books.
Eventually she found her own Prince Charming, a rancher whose white steed takes the form of a tractor and whose kingdom is situated in a small rural community that she loves to call home, and together they've built their own storybook happily-ever-after. Their lives together expanded to include four now grown children who share Winnie's vivid imagination and her husband's steadier influences and are now out in the world pursuing their own adventures.

Courage in the Storm (A Johns Mill Amish Romance Book 3) by Laurel Blount
Book Details:
Title: Courage in the Storm
Series: A John Mills Amish Romance Book 3
Author: Laurel Blount
Publisher: Berkley
Pages: 336
Release Date: April 25, 2023
Genre: Amish Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
In this powerful Amish romance, an isolated woman and a compassionate man learn that love can build a bridge between their two worlds. Since witnessing the murder of her beloved parents, Miriam Hochstedler suffers from paralyzing anxiety and a deep-seated fear of the Englisch. Unwilling to venture beyond her family’s Tennessee farm, she forms a close bond with a badly injured gelding. Like Miriam herself, the traumatized animal seems unlikely to recover—until skilled horse whisperer Reuben Brenneman arrives. A survivor of an abusive childhood, Reuben understands fear better than most. He’ll do whatever it takes to help a terrified animal, but his compassion doesn’t extend to the church that turned a blind eye to his family’s suffering. Once he finishes this job, he’ll return to the Englisch world, putting his Amish heritage behind him forever. As Miriam works alongside Reuben, battling the horse’s fear—and her own—an unexpected friendship blooms and deepens into romance. But the Amish faith that sustains her inspires only distrust in Reuben, and the Englisch world he’s chosen has already broken her heart once. Falling in love was easy. But staying together will take all the courage they have.
My Thoughts: Deeply Touched My Heart
Miriam and Breeze were each in need of healing from deep fear caused by traumatic situations. While it appears that Reuben enters the picture only to help Breeze, it becomes evident that Reuben himself is also in need of healing. As Reuben and Miriam work together, they develop a very special relationship. Seeing how honest and open they were with each other and how that honesty impacted their relationship, even when struggles and unexpected events presented themselves, was beautiful. Their story is an absolutely special one that deeply touched my heart.
Author Laurel Blount has once again crafted a story that is so well written and realistic. Once I started reading I did not stop until I got to the very end. At times I felt angst for the characters and what they were each dealing with. Other times I felt hopeful as I watched them experience even the smallest of victories and breakthroughs in their situations. Through everything, love, faith, courage, forgiveness and trust shine through as key elements in the healing process.
The author's research added so much to the realism of the story. I learned much about the trauma of horses, how it affects them and their healing process. I also learned so much about fear and how deeply it's impact can be. These details added an extra touch that took the story to another level. I recommend you read it for yourself to see just how special it is.

Title: The Gift of Faith
Series: Unexpected Gifts Book 3
Author: Kristen McKanagh
Publisher: Berkley
Pages: 301
Release Date: April 11, 2023
Genre: Amish Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
The rewards of faith are plentiful in this sweet Amish romance from the author of The Gift of Joy. The quietest of the three Kanagy boys, Daniel, would prefer to spend his time keeping his bees and selling the honey rather than tending his family’s gift shop. But with both his brothers breaking away from the family business, his parents need Daniel more than ever. Contrary to town gossip, Faith Kemp didn’t jump the fence—she left to track down her twin sister, Mercy. When Faith returns home with a newborn baby, the rumors are tough to set right, and not everyone in the community is welcoming. To help support her family, Faith sells dried flower arrangements to the popular gift shop in town. Each visit, she looks forward to seeing Daniel Kanagy. He doesn’t say much, but his steady strength speaks to her just the same. With girls buzzing around Daniel and trying to catch his eye, why would he turn his gaze to a quiet, plain girl who has a baby and too many rumors about her?
My Thoughts: Beautiful and Inspiring
What a wonderful story! I loved watching Faith and Daniel reestablish their friendship and watching how it blossomed into a mutual trust and support for each other. However, as their friendship deepens, challenging and unexpected situations rise up. Some of the situations are painful, and some involve difficult decisions, but all will require a reliance on faith and trust in God.
The Gift of Faith is so beautifully written and it deeply touched my heart. Some parts had me smiling, some parts brought tears to my eyes and some had me reflecting upon the awesomeness of God and His faithfulness. That along with elements of forgiveness, grace and love make this an absolutely beautiful and inspiring story that I highly recommend.

But when Nathan Garrison arrives in town, determined to fix up the guest ranch next door, he needs all the help he can get. Before long, Monroe knows there’s more to this stranger than meets the eye. Can working with a man carrying tragic memories be the key to overcoming Monroe’s wounds—both inside and out? From Love Inspired: Uplifting stories of faith, forgiveness and hope.
My Thoughts: A Wow of a Story
It is no secret that one of the things I love about a book is when it grabs me from the start, and The Rancher's Sanctuary did just that. It sucked me in right from the very first page and did not let me go until I had read the very last word. Needless to say that was a huge wow factor for me.
I was completely intrigued and captivated by Nathan's story. It had me turning pages as I tried to piece everything together. I was also captivated by the relationship that developed between Nathan and Monroe. I enjoyed how Nathan's mystery served as the thread that drew them together. It was so sweet to watch how their discoveries of pieces of the mystery led to conversations of discoveries about each other. Their conversations and their bantering back and forth were entertaining and kept me smiling. However, whenever the effects from the wounds of their pasts came to the forefront in their growing relationship, it had me holding my breath and wondering how they would overcome.
The wonderful characters, which included some very special four legged friends, and the intrigue made this story of love, overcoming, trust and faith an absolutely beautiful read that I highly recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
Nelly Raber placed an ad in The Budget, hoping to help the widows and fatherless children of Miller's Creek. That was two years ago, and she has yet to live down the impulsive act that has become a yoke around her neck. Levi Milford has worked hard for the future he has planned, but suddenly everything has gone wrong. Turning to a friend who seems to be having more trouble to him, Levi soon realizes why it's always best to put our futures in God's hands. As summer looms to an end, one heart will be put to the test, while another might find her best match yet.
My Thoughts: Beautiful Story
One of the many things that draws me to a book is the title, and such is the case with Ladybug Landing. The minute I read the title I knew I just had to read it and find out the reason for the title. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Not only did I find out the why of the title, but I found a whole lot more: a beautiful story of love, forgiveness, hope and faith.
This was such a wonderful story! It took me on an amazing roller coaster ride of emotions. Author Mindy Steele flawlessly wove Nelly and Levi's story in such a realistic way that gave me an immediate connection to them and had me feeling all of what they were feeling and going through. I really thought I knew where the story was going, but such was not the case. Every time I expected one thing, I was completely taken by surprise at the direction in which the story went. The characters were great and the story was authentic and true to life. Needless to say, all of these kept me glued to the pages in anticipation of where it would all lead. In the end I was left with a smile on my face knowing that my faith, hope and trust in God will always lead me to where He wants me to be. And I'm pretty sure that I'll be reminded of that message whenever I see a ladybug.

Breaking New Ground (An Amish Legacy Novel Book 3) by Amy Clipston
Book Details:
Title: Breaking New Ground
Series: An Amish Legacy Novel Book 3
Author: Amy Clipston
Publisher: Zondervan
Pages: 336
Release Date: April 11, 2023
Genre: Amish Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Description:
Korey Bontrager knows he’s been an immature dummkopp. When his widowed dad remarried, Korey was unwelcoming to his kindhearted stepmother. Then he became estranged from his older brother. But after fourteen months in Ohio, God called Korey back to Pennsylvania.
Easier said than done. Back home, Korey feels left behind by his family and friends, who want to see him also happily married. Instead of looking for a new relationship, he finds himself spending time with Savannah Zook: the most outspoken maedel he’s ever met. She’s also confident and brave, having raised her younger brother from a young age. And she’s a natural beauty. But, hard as her friends try to convince her otherwise, she has no interest in dating. Her priority is looking out for her bullied brother.
So when Savannah suggests they pretend to date as a way to get her friends—and his family—off their backs, Korey readily agrees. Soon, he can’t imagine life without her. But could Savannah ever truly be part of his future? And after feeling betrayed by his brother and his last girlfriend, Korey isn’t quite ready to trust another woman with his heart.
My Thoughts: Wonderful and Heartwarming
Korey Bontrager has come a long way from the person he was in the past. He knows God has brought him back home, but moving forward is going to take a lot of work. However, moving forward becomes a little less challenging and a lot more interesting when Savannah Zook suggests they fake date. That's when things take a turn for them in ways they never thought possible.
I truly did not like the old Korey, but the new Korey touched my heart in a special way. I could feel his frustrations and struggles as he worked at moving forward from his past and moving toward making things right. His situation struck a cord with how realistic and true to life it is. It shows how hard life is when you mess up and have to own up to your mistakes in order to make things right, especially when it involves moving from blame shifting, to taking responsibility, to asking for forgiveness. As Korey worked through all of that, his faith in God, his determination and his friendship with Savannah kept him moving forward. The same can also be said for Savannah. Her situation was different from Korey's, but she too had struggles and things to work through. Just as with Korey, their friendship, her determination and her faith in God helped her move forward as well.
I loved Korey and Savannah's story. It was truly a joy to see how their "fake" relationship developed and grew. I also loved the how the themes of faith and family were woven into the story in such a way that added a very special touch to their story and to that of the other characters as well. This made for a wonderful and heartwarming story that I did not want to see end and one that I highly recommend.
