'I didn’t have white hair in those days,’ said Granny. ‘Everything was a different colour in those days.’ ‘That’s true.’ ‘It didn’t rain so much in the summer time.’ ‘The sunsets were redder.’ ‘There were more old people. The world was full of them,’ said the wizard. ‘Yes, I know. And now it’s full of young people. Funny, really. I mean, you’d expect it to be the other way round.' — Equal Rites

Hm, just had an additional mark in the Leslie Thompkins/Jana Brodie column vs the whole Sanctuary concept, relating to a current storyline over in the Green Arrow book.
Basically, Amanda Waller is forcing Ollie Queen to work for her, and and in Green Arrow #9 attempted to make him steal the tapes of the superhero communities' therapy sessions to learn their secrets and vulnerabilities for blackmail/"protection"-based reasons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Admittedly I'm not following this series currently (heard good things though), but I'll admit to being a bit confused considering how at the end of Heroes in Crisis the superheroes decided to release their therapy tapes anyway in a move that was intended to humanise them rather than making them look "unstable" because they attend therapy occasionally. Maybe they kept the ones back that had their personal or identifying information in, and that's what Amanda wanted him to steal?
Either way, Amanda has several other members of the Arrow Family kidnapped and injected with explosives to make them help Ollie steal said information, which just adds additional layers as to why the Sanctuary set-up was badly thought out in the first place.

Zatanna #8 - Introducing Jana, Magical Therapist!
One of the minor characters introduced in Paul Dini’s preboot Zatanna series was that of Jana, a neutral supernatural being that acted as a therapist for both DC’s magical heroes and the villains.
Tumblr media
A curious thing about her is that we technically don’t know what Jana actually IS, as her form and office change to suit the needs of her patients, hence human for Zee, chimp for Detectice Chimp, and demon for Captain Tryhard Brother Night.

The interesting thing is that therapy within the DCU has been a thing for quite some time, with Leslie Thompson serving the function for the Bat Family (and Catwoman) for example. …Which kind of causes even more questions regarding the function of Sanctuary within the Heroes in Crisis story, but again, I’ve already talked about that.

Amusing too that even though some parts of Brook's movies have aged (as all comedy does), it still hasn't aged as badly as that comment saying that they should aspire to be more like Woody Allen.

I mean, the tv remake already kinda spoiled it by attempting to give the Prisoner a "logical" ending (the remake's Village was a mental construct other folk were getting trapped in as a form of therapy or something?) so it's not exactly new them doing that kind of thing.
Like how before the show Life on Mars get an official explanation for what was going on (ie cops ending up back in the past after a seeming near death experience) in its sequel series Ashes to Ashes (ie the "past" setting was actually a form of purgatory for policemen to get over their mental baggage, be it guilt, bigotry or what have you, before they go on to a positive afterlife... or get sent to Hell for trying to choose the easier, lazy solution instead), the American remake of Life on Mars had the explanation that it was a computer simulation designed to keep the crew of a spaceship mentally stimulated while literally flying to Mars to look for signs of life.
So yeah, in the original shows the titles were relating to David Bowie to tie into the eras they were set, while the American remake chose to interpret it in the most literal way possible (with the mentor/rival character Gene Hunt in the American version also being the personification of a machine LITERALLY designed to look for Martian genes).
I don't know. If Christopher Nolan IS adapting the Prisoner (I don't believe it's been 100% confirmed), I think that he's a good fit considering some of his prior works.

The wedding misadventures of Rick Jones and Marlo Chandler
As the wedding is about to begin, Hulk and Captain America are helping a very nervous Rick Jones into his tuxedo. While in another room, Marlo is being helped into her dress by Betty Ross and some other women. As she looks into the mirror, Marlo is frightened by the brief appearance of Mephisto reflected back at her. Before the ceremony, there were some surprising appearances such as Northstar who happens to be dating Hector (Hulk's friend from the Pantheon) as well as Rahne Sinclair, Guido Carosella and the unmasked version of ROM Space Knight.
As the wedding ceremony begins, the priest who looks like Peter David reads the book to the bride and groom when they are interrupted by the arrival of Drax the Destroyer. Everyone is surprised when Drax presents an invitation, even though he wasn't mailed one. Nonetheless, they have Drax sit next to Adam Warlock. Next, the wedding is interrupted by the supervillains - Wizard, Absorbing Man, Mister Hyde and the Living Laser. However, they have not come not as wedding crashers, but as attendees, as they too have invitations. In reality, the invitations got mixed up so they were given to the wrong people. The Hulk is about to start a fight with them anyway, however, Doc Samson convinces him to stand down. Rick Jones then agrees to allow the villains to stay for the ceremony. Things get even worse when Kree and Skrull ships arrive with more attendees. The special occasion does little to soften the relations between the two races. When one of the Kree tries to start a fight with Talos the Tamed, the Silver Surfer steps in to prevent the situation from escalating further.
Just before the ceremony is over, it is interrupted by a final surprise guest, Mephisto, who has come to claim Marlo's soul. However, he faces opposition from both the Silver Surfer and the Hulk. The Hulk resolves to handle the situation himself, and seeing a bright light in the sky, he admits his belief in the possibility of a higher power. This apparently gives the Hulk the strength to beat Mephisto back, forcing him into retreat. However, Mephisto gloats how this "defeat" is part of a much larger scheme to damn the Hulk. The wedding is quickly completed and Rick and Marlo are made man and wife. During the reception, Marlo is congratulated by the various guests including the surprising appearance of Death of the Endless, who has come to give Marlo a gift. Once Marlo accepts it, Death quickly leaves. Marlo isn't sure who the woman was, but she and Rick open the box and find a beautiful hairbrush inside.

Huh, neat! Sounds kind of Venture Bros-ish.
It's like... It's not that you can't do a more adult-leaning take on Scooby Doo, it's just that this one... isn't great?
Like, maybe something more in-line with the show Mystery Incorporated (something that still fundamentally a Scooby Doo show, but has an involved mystery plot and most importantly doesn't actively appear to hate the property it's adapting and its fans), only skooched up a bit in terms of the things they could only imply in the original show.
