Final Publication
The final publication is printed a Mixam.com. The publication is A4 size as after doing research I felt this size was right, as it’s not too big but also not small enough so the images aren’t as impactful. The paper is 170gsm, uncoated, as I wanted a more textured paper as I feel textured paper grabs the audience’s attention more. The Cover is 250gsm Recycled, as the publication wants to cut down the cost on the environment it has as much as possible. I would have liked to have the whole publication made out of recycled paper but that was not possible, however this is something that I would want to continue to look into in the future.
Overall I am happy with my publication I have created, as I previously concentrated on branding in my last project I wanted to push myself with creative direction and image making. There are a few photoshoot’s I would do differently as I don’t think the message I wanted to convey came through strong enough. I’ve also found it hard at first having a part time job and organising my time so that I could complete my work to my best ability however towards the end I felt more prepared and organised. However, when it came to printing my publication, this is where I’d do things differently. After printing my publication weeks in advance, there comes an issue with delivery. Fed-ex decided to send the shipment back to the company instead of to me house, so this ended up with me having a very stressed time at the printers in Leeds Hobbs. So even though the publication is not how I completely expected I am pleased with the outcome, There is still much room for growth but this has helped me realise how to grow and challenge myself in the future

i’ve created an instagram so that I can promote my publication and reach a bigger audience. Instagram has an option where you can create a business profile, this means you can track your views and see how well your posts are performing, so you can cater to your audience for the best outreach possible.
Coal Marketing
Coal Publication understands that we as a whole need to be more environmentally friendly. This is why the publication is printed on recycled paper. Therefore we have created some tote bag merchandise, so not only does it advertise the brand but it also helps the reader use less plastic. There are also postcards advertising the publication, which are made out of recycled paper. There is also some stickers to help advertise the brand.Coal Publication has an instagram @coal_ne which plans to update which the newest shoots and show the behind the scenes of the shoots to help engage with the customer and make them feel more connected. We also have a website which will be updated with images and stories behind our shoots.
The publication plans to be sold at Village Bookstore Leeds, and other independent book stores like it. There is plans for an opening event at Hyde Park Club Book Club, where there will be a chance to buy a copy and view the images of the first issue. There will also be live music by Northern Bands, such a Party Hardly, a group of four males who are based in Leeds.

Making Tote bags for branding the Publication.
I wanted to create some branding for my publication, I went with tote bags, as they are something which helps promote sustainability while also promoting the brand. I feel that these bags have worked well, and I have been asked by a few to start making them and people are willing to buy them off me. I like both the black and natural ones and feel the colours work well together, next time i will try to execute them in a better manner, as they weren’t as perfect as i would have liked them to be.

Never cold - Model Isabel Prescott
I wanted to look into the idea of the stereotype Northerner’s never being cold and flip it. I Originally wanted this shoot to be more exaggerated and over the top unfortunately this is not how it ended up happening on the day. Though it is not how I envisioned it originally I like the raw quality of the images. If I were to do this shoot again, I would try and play around more with the props to try and get the over the top exaggerated images I was hoping for.

Never cold image moodboard,
I want to play around with the idea that northerners are never cold. I want to flip it around in an exaggerated manner, by showing someone sat on a sunlounger wrapped in over the top fur coats and eating ice lollys.

Layout research
What do i like about it?
-overlayed graphics, draws your attention
-use of multiple pages for one photo
- mutliple images in one page, test shoot vibe, shows a range and a story
What wouldnt I take from this?
I'm not that keen about the mutliple black and white images, I prefer to have most images in colour, especially as I want to show the north in a more colourful aspect.

Lambton
Location
Penshaw monument
The Lambton Worm, my grandparent’s used to sing the song to me growing up which has been passed down from 1861. I looked into the mythology of the Lambton Worm, and it’s connection with the Penshaw monument. There’s a debate over what the worm actually was, was it a giant worm? Was it a dragon? Or maybe it was a snake. This is why I opted to use a reptile print so try and connect the myth to the photos.
I also tried to link it to the painting of ‘The Red Boy’ by Thomas Lawrence, a depiction Charles William Lambton in 1825 who later died at 13. The Lambton worm story also implies a curse on the Lambton Family. Therefore I chose to have one outfit in red and do close up shots on the rock as was painted by Lawrence.
