Confession time: I’ve been hiding from social media, from society, withholding myself from pursuing anything because I held onto my misery. The misery of not having the life that I wanted, the misery of a limbo situation, the misery of procrastination, the misery of being complacent, the misery of self-loathing. The stress and anxiety was really getting to me. I was numbing myself with video games. It took a sudden change in finances for me to breathe. It allowed me to take a breathe in and relax. The tension gone, knowing that there was a way out. A way out of bad advice. That breathe allowed me to let go of the cloak of misery I had held onto so tightly for so long. It opened me up to new opportunities. A new temp job close home and my boys and more freelance work. It also brought forth the opportunity to take a full-time job. The pay would have helped me immensely to move forward, but it would mean time away from my kids and inconvenience to my new employers. So I passed it on. Knowing that by letting go, I open myself up to receiving more opportunities. Opportunities that would allow me to thrive in a life with my boys. Have you had such a change in your life? I’m curious. A little pick me up from the Universe, after receiving news I didn’t get the job I applied for. Yes it would have helped the cashflow, a nice stable income and the benefits were great too. However, would I be able to cope with working for a company? I’ve always done my own thing. When one door closes, it just means I need to go in a different direction. Hustle harder, work smarter, create the freedom lifestyle I’ve always wanted. Yes I was upset that I didn’t make it, even though I went through all 3 interview rounds. Disappointed yes. I cried. My kids hugged me. It was my first attempt at applying for a job after working for myself for over 10+ years. It did make me wonder if it’s because I don’t have a degree. Life happens. Sometimes I’m super stressed. Especially when funds are tight. I worry about providing, worry about my kids, worry about my sanity... The darkness can be overwhelming at times. Yet I know there is light in every situation. Instead of dwelling on the negatives, shine light on what’s around. I’m grateful for having my 2 kids. I’m grateful for our health. I’m grateful we have a car to drive. Grateful we live in Wellington. Grateful we have internet. Grateful for the wonderful sea breeze. Grateful for the quiet night when everyone but me is asleep. Grateful for my tech gear. Grateful for my drawing skills. Grateful I was able to get out of my comfort zone and go to a meeting with other people 😱 There is light everywhere.
