Before the eternal sugar update ends, I wanna share a theory/headcannon I have about Pavlova Cookie

You know how after he turns into his adult form, he talk about fate a lot?

This man has like 5 text boxes and he spends two of them talking about this. Clearly the writers wanted us to focus on that word.

And another thing!

Pavlova’s skill inflicts a debuff called “Red Thread”. Which refers to the concept of the red thread of fate, basically a red string connecting soulmates to each other.

Gee, for a cookie whose main thing is about love, that’s a suddenly large amount of references to fate! What’s up with that?

So, here’s my theory. (BTW this theory doesn’t require Pavlova to be Eternal Sugar’s son so you can interpret their relationship any way you want.)

Pavlova Cookie doesn’t simply have the power to see the love in people’s hearts. He also has the power to see fate.

He didn’t always have that power. It started to emerge around the time Pavlova Cookie was actually the age his child form assumes.

And it terrified him.

He saw lovers destined to be torn apart. Hearts destined to be broken, never to be mended.

And worst of all, were the dreams.

Dreams of a sweet butterfly coming to him, becoming his light, then slipping away from his hands, leaving him eternally alone.

His once innocent views of love were close to breaking. He needed someone, anyone to take away the pain and sorrow.

And who was there when he was desperate for happiness? Eternal Sugar Cookie.

Pavlova Cookie made a wish to Eternal Sugar Cookie, the bringer of happiness. He wished to be young forever, in body and spirit, ignorant to the pain of the world and blind to what fate whispered to him. Only then, he thought, would he be able to spread love as he wanted to. Only then could he read the stories he loved and not start to cry. Only then could he sleep at night.

And so, the bringer of happiness granted Pavlova’s wish. And it was so.

But happiness is a fickle thing. You try to grasp it, but it slips out of your hand.

And Pavlova couldn’t run forever from his fate.
