there’s a sort of poetry to donald trump refusing to release the epstein files potentially being what finally undoes him. he built his political career on feeding conspiracy theories. he made his own oc conspiracy theories. now a conspiracy theory, that he fed, that he promised to deliver on if re-elected, actually has legs. and he’s inextricably in the middle of it. he could have just not fed it and not promised to do anything. but epstein played too well into his existing q-anon au. he couldn’t help himself. even though he knew there are scores of photos of them together. he knew he was on the record about their close friendship and joshing about how epstein likes girls on the young side. but he just couldn’t help himself. and now he’s turned on his base for the first time. and they’re turning on him. nothing has ever stuck before and only time will tell if his teflon is finally scratching. but it’s kind of poetic.
