How we can make the fashion industry more sustainable and ecological?

The fashion industry currently pollutes the environment a lot with an immense amount of clothing waste, only Canada can fill it three times the stadium with a capacity of 60,000 people in a year and a single person throws away approximately 200 shirts.

I came up with a proposal to solve that problem, which is to only use organic materials to make the fabric of the clothes in such a way that they can work as compost for the soil when you do not want to use them anymore. Of course avoiding using materials harmful to the environment such as plastics, metals or rubber on them.

How fashion industry works? Following trends or creating them?

I think a little bit of both, a lot of times some brands are the ones that create those trends with new designs or new combinations and other people follow them or take the old trends as inspiration to create new ones. I see all that as a circle, there is no beginning or end to the subject.

Of course, it doesn't always work, because people have to like it until it reaches a certain level of popularity so that it begins to influence many other people in buying it too.

Why fashion industry makes people rich?

I think the reason why these companies have been able to reap such big profits is because they make clothes quickly and cheaply, in addition, they adjust to the fashions of the moment. They manufacture overseas and don't pay their workers much so it doesn't cost them too much to get their job done.

Adding that today's customers search for clothes that have an interesting design or a certain style of clothing, along with colors that stand out. If the brand has any of those characteristics really the price does not matter to most, because they only have the need to spend their money on something they like, even if they have to save to get it.

About my brand Étoile

Well, I don't think it is really interesting or some kind of amazing turn of events but I'm proud of how it's been developing since I started.

When i was younger i always dreamed of having my own company and following my dream of becoming a designer because th world of fashion seems amazing to me, I didn't really start working on it until years later when my family had financial problems and I wanted to help.

I started sewing and designing simple things like dresses with a patterned fabric or plain colored shirts to sell. In the beginning, not many people really wanted to buy my clothes, but that did not matter as long as I could help my family with that little money that i earned.

I had worked in the same thing until my dad got a really good job offer so when everything seemed stable, I went to university to study fashion design. There I met wonderful people who helped me in the process of creating my brand and I am very grateful for their help because without them I would not be where I am now.

When I finally finished college, I had designed a couple clothes to begin sharing my brand and the rest it just really boring, a lot of work and determination to start growing and growing, people really like the things I designed it was completely unbelievable to me.
