i present you: eunoia's PURE HEROINE.

001. LORE ⋆˚࿔

The last year of highschool creeps up, getting closer and closer every single day. Most of the students are happy, of course. The thought of something new coming, a future awaiting outside of the Copperdale High walls. It should be exciting. But to Lacey, it definitely is not.

Lacey has three problems:

She doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life.

Her best friend, Akari suddenly started to drift away, and she’s almost sure it’s because of a guy? (ew!)

The situationship she’s in is… well. Complicated.

The relationship between her and Jayden got… weird. It wasn’t rocky. They flirted and kissed with ease. What changed was something inside Lacey. And she was pretty sure Jayden felt it too.

And Akari? Oh, that girl. They used to be such good friends they would have sleepovers every weekend. Now? It’s a struggle to even invite her to get some boba. She went quiet. You could say that it’s nothing new for her, but it’s a different kind of quiet. The one where she zones off, throws a quick “mhm” and “yeah, yeah” to make the others feel like she’s listening.

Before she transferred here (her coming to Copperdale High being the eleventh transfer she’s had since starting middle school), she swore to herself: no attachments.

So, how did she end up with two best friends she wouldn’t trade for anything in the world, a job she somehow loves, and even a secret hideout?

At first, it felt almost too good to be true, and now, with all those problems piling up, Lacey guesses she was kinda right.

But one thing about her — this girl is stubborn. And she is NOT going to watch everything drift away from her hands.

002. LACEY HAMPTON ⋆˚࿔ based on: ribs. (and a bit of buzzcut season)

Traits: Loner, Art Lover

Lacey, being the only daughter of a pair of business owners, had to move a lot. Before turning eighteen, she’s already been to Oasis Springs, San Myshuno, Brindleton Bay, and… six more. Her life was based in the small suitcase she kept next to her bed.

She’s learnt not to get attached. It was easier like this. But, with that, Lacey also grew even more… introverted. She liked spending time in her room, drawing another set of cute doodles or a full on fanart piece for a show she was watching at the time. People at the different schools didn’t bother to remember her name and she couldn’t blame them.

But when she came to Copperdale, her comfortable bubble popped the second she felt a clean nail tap her shoulder in English class. Jayden Walters basically “adopted” her, introducing her to Akari Minton not so long after.

Lacey thought they would just stay “school” friends. The kind that you talk with in class, have fun, but there’s silence after you come home. This was different. With each hangout, each shopping, she found herself craving their presence. 

And then, her and Jayden happened. It started out with quick looks, maybe some flirty comments or jokes. In no time, they went deeper into it. Stolen kisses by the bleachers, watching the other from across the room with sparkly eyes.

But then came Sam Hauer. He didn’t interrupt Lacey and her “girl”, no. He did so much worse. He took Akari. Within a blink of an eye, she started to drift away from their friendship. And it’s safe to say, Lacey was furious.

003. JAYDEN WALTERS ⋆˚࿔ based on: tennis court.

Traits: Animal Lover, Cheerful

Jayden could easily be described as the sun. If you see her at school, she’s probably in the middle of laughing or humming a Clairo song. Always with her best friends, Lacey and Akari. The girl has people PILE up to her, and you can’t blame them – she’s that girl. Beautiful, funny, and, most importantly, genuinely kind. Jayden is that girl you just know will be the prom queen.

But under her lip gloss and a smile plastered to her lips, there’s something keeping her up almost every night. Something that makes her eyes water, that makes her go out for long, long walks most of the evenings.

Her parents are on the verge of splitting up, and it feels like the end of the world. Jayden knows it’s for the better. She does. Her mom deserves to have someone who will genuinely love her. At the same time, while having to listen to her parents arguing all the time, she kinda wishes things were just… easier. No divorce paperwork, no quiet fights that aren’t meant for her ears (yet, sitting at the top of the stairs, she hears it all). 

And, on top of that, Lacey.

She was so sure they were perfect for eachother. Like, Jayden loves her. Seriously. But, at the same time, there is so much on her mind. When she’s laying in her bed, another sleepless night, her thoughts wander, starting to question if this is the best state for her.

004. AKARI MINTON ⋆˚࿔ based on: a world alone. (and a bit of team)

Traits: Loyal, Romantic

Akari is on people’s tongue lately. A lot. Not because she is super outgoing, or popular, no. But because a certain quarterback, Copperdale’s basketball prodigy Sam Hauer is interested in her. Most girls would be flattered! I mean, how often does the quiet girl catch the popular, sweet boy’s eye? Outside of Wattpad novels, of course.

Well, Akari isn’t glad. Don’t get her wrong! Sam is caring and funny. He helps her with her biology homework, he listens to every song she recommends to him. Sam is a wonderful friend. Key word: friend. Because Akari doesn’t see him as anything else. Not when her heart, despite many tries, still belongs to Lacey.

She didn’t even notice when that happened. When the looks she gave her friend started to linger, when her eyes “accidentally” fell on Lacey’s lips. But after a while, she was sure.

She fell in love with Lacey Hampton. Her best friend. 

It wouldn’t be that bad. If only Lacey didn’t have a thing with Jayden. Cause now, what’s Akari supposed to do? She would never ruin her friendship with either Jayden or Lacey. But, at the same time, there’s only so much she can take.

That’s why she decided to distance herself. Sam, even only as a friend, is here to support her. It will be better this way. It has to be, right?
