Percy was admittedly surprised, but pleased that Elio had returned the book. It was a larger tone, full of historical magic that in the wrong hands could mean danger to them all. He had a feeling that Elio was looking into the situation from last year and wondered if the city could be protected more, so that such things didnβt happen again. Then again, they couldnβt all control what people did with runes once they learned how to use them, but Percy himself was cautious about it.
βOf course. Iβll take special care with that one. Did you find everything in it you needed?β
Elio had begun swinging by the library ever since runes had become exposed the previous spring in Vievecor. He had been curious about older texts of the city's history and the accuracy of said texts, taking to checking out books from time to time to fact check, occasionally using magic to correct any mistakes he noticed. He had never thought much of the older texts before, but now that various members of the community seemed interested in learning more, he figured at very least he could put his age to use. "Just dropping off a piece." Elio answered with a wink as he pulled a book from under his arm-- one that arguably should not have even left the library's premise to begin with. "Mind putting it back for me?"

βHow much sleep do you need? Itβs certainly not the normal amount for us other non human folk, isnβt it?β Percy couldnβt help his curious nature. In fact, he was pretty sure that most librarians were like that. Then again, he remembered being that annoying kid that was always asking anyone around him anything and everything. His parents at one point had had to force him out of the house when his father had tended to clients.
βI thought you might be interested in them. Iβll grab them for you then. Let me know how you like them. Itβs always interesting what the humans come up with about us, isnβt it?β And if they really knew the truth, chaos would be bound to be let loose. Something Percy was determined to not let happen. βAn old friend of mine always told me no reading is boring,β Percy said with a shake of his head and a small smile. βThough I can be of help in that area. If youβll follow me, Iβll guide you to some of the more popular section of romance books. Youβd be surprised how often those get checked out. And I must admit, I do find myself reading them from time to time too. They do break of the muontiy of reading for study.β
"I wouldn't go that far, I think I just need less sleep in my old age than you might," he joked. Placing the returned books on the counter, Ursa rested his hands against it, trying to get a peek at what Percy might be reading. "I just have a lot of spare time on my hands and, you know what they say, idle hands are the devil's work so best to keep occupied." Not that demon was much of a threat, he kept himself busy enough not to be bored and do something reckless and break the golden rule.
"I wouldn't mind taking a look at one of those," he agreed, knowing that particular topic was of interest to him. It was always amusing to read, the human mind was a funny thing when they thought they had discovered the truth. "But I was also thinking maybe a... romance novel, I guess? Spice things up a little with my reading. I keep getting told I'm being boring," he admitted.

Percival knew that Eijah likely had been uncomfortable with him taking over as head of the library. In fact, heβd been quite surprised to be offered the position in the first place. If anything, heβd always expected to be a regular level librarian, begin the head of it was something else, but he found that he was naturally gifted at it. βThanks for checking in. The library is always a good place for a break, huh? How is the research going?β Percy was always interested to hear what Elijah Remington was looking into, no doubt it was something interesting. βEr β¦ a magic book. Well, not any sort of magic book. Itβs one on telekenisis magic. I know, I shouldnβt have it out, but Iβm careful, given β¦ all of that.β He grimaced a little and gestured to his hiding place.
"Hello Percy." Elijah gave him a tight smile. So many time he'd said the exact same thing to Persephone, half the time leaning over the counter for a kiss before he kept going into the library. And now she was gone. Percy was a fine successor and good at the job, but seeing him in her place still hurt. "Taking a break from some research and wanted to see how things were going. What were you reading before I showed up?" He'd seen Percy slide a book into the drawer but hadn't caught what it was.

Lifting a brow, Percy got the feeling that Artus had been trying to startle him. Fortunately for himself, he was used to those sorts of tricks around here. Even with the elves, whom he knew were quiet.
β Not so much quiet as my guests donβt usually like to sneak up on me anymore. At least not until after I told off a few teenagers a couple of weeks ago. β Percival chuckled as he shook his head at the memory. β Actually, I expected you wouldnβt be done with that book so soon. What was it, almost a thousand pages? Even I couldnβt get through that in a week unless I was skimming. β To which he avoided if he could. β Anyway, whatβs up, Artus? How are you doing? β
He wasn't surprised to find Percy intently focused on the pages in front of him. Whatever he was reading, it had certainly captured his interested and managed to keep it, almost long enough for Artus to sneak up on him. Alas, his approach had been heard and soon the young witch was looking up at him.
"You say that like it's unexpected," he replied with a small chuckle. "Is the library really that quiet these days?"

β You just might be a faster reader than me, Ursa. I must commend you for that, β Percy said with an appraising and appreciative nod. In his younger years, Percival had not interacted with deityβs very much, not unless his father had brought them into his home, much to his mothers dismay, but he didnβt have a problem with them. As far as Percy was concerned, if someone didnβt cause him trouble then he wouldnβt do the same for them. It only made sense, after all.
β What are you looking for this time? β Percy asked as he took the book and scanned it back in to be shelved later. β Something on the more fantasy side? Or more of our generational religion versus the supernatural? Speaking of, we did get a few more in of those last week. I could pull them off of the shelves if you were interested. β
Ursa had always been an avid reader, curious about the tales that human's would come up with. Their struggles between good and evil were always so curious and amusing to the fallen deity but he still enjoyed it. After realising that he was running out of space in his home, he had begun frequenting the library for new books. During his visit's, he had sparked up a conversation with the librarian about books and that had lead to sharing recommendations.
He smiled in greeting, placing his pile of books on the counter. "I'm afraid so, I've already finished the last book you recommeneded." the old demon replied. "I have come to pluck your thoughts on my next read."

β Caia! Hey! Itβs good to see you. Nothing about those ruins in there either, huh? β Percy had been doing research of his own, eager to help the community in whatever way he could. Heβd been able to tell that this was important to Caia. As he understood the need to finding anything of important to ones own kind.
β I did, actually! I have a few tucked up here for you since I figured youβd be back, having to return that book and all. β Grinning at them, Percy checked in the book that had just been returned and put it on the β return β rack before turning to his other small stack of books he had nearby. β I donβt know if these will have what youβre looking for, but hopefully you can find something on those ruins. Youβd think there would be information somewhere. And if I happen to come across anything, I can shoot you a message, if youβd like. β
"Hey there, Percy," Caia said casually to the librarian they had come to know ever since they started frequenting the library. While books on the ruins that turned up a few months ago certainly did not exist, there was no harm in looking into the other magical history books to see if anything would help.
They placed the book they last checked out on the table between them and shot Percy a grin. "Finished this one. Didn't really give me anything, so I figured I'd come and try again. Did you manage to bring in any other elvish history books since I last came around?"

To say that Percy was surprised to see that Rei was back in town was an understatement. In fact, heβd never thought heβd see him again. Not that they had been close. But they had run in similar-ish circles back in school before Rei had left. Heβd hoped he was doing well wherever he had been going. Percy couldnβt help but think that getting out of town might do him some good one day too, but he had no intentions of that, ever, really.
β Hey, Rei. No β¦ I figured not. Itβs good to see you. I donβt know if you remember me. We ran in some similar circles back in school. β A small smile tugged up at his lips before he said, β Itβs good to see you. I hope youβre doing well. How was it being outside of Vieveocor? β
He was just picking up a couple of groceries, wanting to stock up so he wouldn't have to go anywhere other than work in the next days, weeks, or even months. Even though he had come back to Vievecor City, he didn't necessarily want to be here, so anything he could do to pretend that he wasn't and avoid anyone who might recognise him, primarily those from his father's coven, he would do it.
Unfortunately, someone was tapping on his shoulder, trying to get his attention. He could hear them say something, but with their earbuds in it was hard to tell what they were actually saying. "What?" He pulled on earbud out as he turned his head to look at the other. "No, I don't work here."

Percy was on his way home when he noticed the stranger up ahead. She looked rather lost, which was a somewhat unusual sight, but he supposed Vievecor City and Dymock in itself was rather large. It could overwhelm someone new. Knowing he couldn't just leave her there to be confused, Percy stepped near her, clearing his throat gently so that he didn't startle her.
β Excuse me, ma'am. Are you alright?" He lowered his glasses, pocketing them instead, he'd forgotten to take them off after his shift at the library. β I don't think we've met. I'm Percival, though you're welcome to call me Percy. Did you just move here? Sorry if that's a bit forward, I just noticed you looked a little . . . lost. β
It was official: Daphne was lost. She looked at the landmarks, then back at the map. She could see the town just a few yards behind her. She wasn't completely lost at least, but she couldn't find the creek that she'd assumed was part of the town's namesake. "There has to be a water source around here." Just where it was remained a mystery. Not like anyone would likely tell her with the ongoing paranoia. They probably would assume she wanted to poison the well or whatever it was. Still she needed to find it.
The gravel crunched behind her. It might be a wagon on the move or someone coming to admire the way the sun painted the vista. She doubted that the person was there for her.

It was not unusual to find Percy at the front desk pouring over a book. What was unusual was him openly reading a telekensis book. He had to be careful about that. Magical books were precious and guarded and only loaned out to those that could be trusted. That being said, he made sure the book couldn't be seen and another more normal, non magical book was behind it to cover up what it really was. Hearing footsteps however, he shut the book and slipped it into a drawer that was magically protected for things such as these. He really should keep these books down in the basement, but well ... his telekensis skills were lacking and he could use the practice. Now was not the time for that, however.
Looking over at them, Percy smiled at the familiar face he saw there. β Oh, hello! Back again so soon? β

PERCIVAL BRAMWELL
GENDER: Male
SPECIES: Witch | Remington coven | Illusion Magic and currently working on Teleportation Magic & Air magic
AGE: 30
SEXUALITY: bisexual/demisexual
OCCUPATION: Head librarian at Vievecor City Library
DISTRICT: Dymock
BACKGROUND:
Percy comes from a long line of witches. He grew up in the Droitwich district with his parents and his younger sister Ainsley (20). His mother, Donna, is a well known white witch, who has done her best to press onto her children how to keep up with being a white which and all of the kindnesses that come with it. His father Octavius on the other hand leaned more toward dark magic and as thus, lost his life due to mishandling magic to help a vampire a number of years ago. Percival does keep his distance from them now, wary to offer help or any assistance in his magic for them.
He has thus lived in Vievecor his whole life. His family having been one of the first families to arrive in Vievecor. He was told that at one point a descendant of his was on the council, but Percy has no intentions of picking that back up again. He enjoys his job working as the Head Librarian, helping people find what they need there or keeping things in order. Itβs peaceful, for the most part and keeps him out of trouble.
The Golden Rule is something that Percival agrees with. He would rather not have to deal with wiping memories or in that, losing friends that he has made over the years among the humans. It is for the safety of all that the Golden Rule is followed. And as far as anyone knows, he is a humble librarian, respectful of his peers. He doesnβt touch on his magic much when at work unless he is only speaking with fellow magic users or in the underground magical part of the library. He is careful about making sure the magic books underneath the library are kept hidden and does well attending meetings with his fellow coven members there. It is a safe space for him, somewhere he had escaped to as a youth when things had been hard at home. And he does his best to make sure that the library continues to be a safe space, always on the look out for those that might be willing to cause trouble, supernatural or otherwise.
Percy belongs to the Remington coven. He is skilled in illusion magic, something that was passed down from his fatherβs side of the family. Where his father did tend more to the darker side of magic, Percy leans more toward white magic like his mother, but considers himself neutral. He has been practicing magic since he was a lad and is more skilled than those who started at say sixteen. He is good with illusion and teleportation magic and more recently has been starting to develop his skills in telekenisis. Percy does lean more toward his air abilities, having always been in tune with the air around him and being able to manipulate it to his will.
PERSONALITY: Self-reliant, observant, earnest, compassionate, protective, timid, pessimistic, stubborn, compulsive, fastidious
