Sean hails from Seattle born and raised and works at a fish market at Pikes Place market. concerned about the effect of wildfire smoke would like to see a concerted effort to mitigate the effect of wildfire/wildfire smoke. "Every year it is getting worse." He identifies that getting ahead of the cause of fire is important. The forest industry should note that this is not the first person we have interviewed that is not aware of all that the forest product industry does to mitigate wildfire and manage forests for resiliency.

Linda, retired U.S. Forest Service - firefighter, forester, and district ranger  - identifies all the resources we depend on that come from the forest and the land. She discusses fire suppression, prescribed burn, harvest, and management - and the need to address the Wild-land Urban Interface to provide safety and prevents crown fire and the difference in management of wilderness wildfire management. The importance of preventative work is stressed - with an investment by a variety of stakeholders including the forest industry and those who recreate in the forest. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is transferring control of 16 Job Corps Civilian Conservation Centers to the U.S. Department of Labor. There are 25 centers in the United States and the remaining 9 not transferred to the USDOL will be closed. The U.S. Forest Service stands to lose 1000 jobs. Our colleague Michael Rains wrote a letter to the Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation and you can read his thoughts on this action below.
