genuinely hope to see the fall of christianity as a global power some day in my lifetime
belief on an individual level, whatever that's fine, but do not act as if christianity's influence and doctrine is not a heavy hand behind some of the most evil governmental decisions being wrought upon people at this very moment (anti-trans bills, don't say gay bills, roe vs. wade repeal, etc)
people who are not christian are being forced to live by christian standards and under christian rules and that isn't right

i wonder how much healing that one xkcd comic did to the internet with saying “you’re one of today’s lucky 10,000″ when encountering a person who hasn’t been exposed to a popular or well known thing

My Best Friend
This weekend I say goodbye to my best friend
My longest friend, my constant companion
They have stuck by me for 23 years, unable to remember my life without them
They challenged me on my beliefs, asked me to reflect on my own worldview
They demanded I educate myself, and expected nothing less than my best
They have pointed out my insecurities, and forced me to work through them
They have comforted me when I was lost
We had our issues, like most friends
When we didn’t seem to understand one another, or when I felt like they asked too much of me
Or when I canceled plans with others because they needed my attention
They held me to a standard I felt I couldn’t reach, because somehow they knew I could
This day is no surprise, it has been planned for months, even years
We have worked for this day, thrust together for the purpose of accomplishing something fantastic
And yet the feeling is bittersweet
It’s as if I am losing part of myself
I don’t know who I am without them
This might not be a final goodbye, this might be a see you later
But the great thing is that I don’t have to decide that right now
Right now, I get to make choices for myself, and use what I’ve learned
I get to meet new people and discover who I am without them, without the title of "student"
I’m scared, sad, proud, excited, and a bit lost
But I know I’m going to be okay
Because I had the best friend a person could ever ask for
Graduation, here I come
