do you guys wanna get up early and get pastries and eat them in the park and lay in the grass for a while and then go for a long walk to an antique centre and wander round and hold things up and say "this is you 🫵" and then watch classic who and parallel play by working on our individual writing/art projects for the rest of the day with intermittent drink/snack breaks and none of us ever have to look at microsoft outlook or receive an email ever again

The thing is, even if you were lucky and your parents taught you how to clean, they probably didn't teach you how to clean the stuff you clean stuff with, like brushes, mops, sponges, rags, and so on. Or how to clean your cleaning appliances, like a dish washer, clothes washing machine, and clothes dryer and its ducts (if you have a ducted dryer), or a carpet cleaner, vacuum, Or how to clean up clean messes, like spilled bleach or detergent.
My parents threw away all of these things (even the vacuum cleaners and the dryer) when they got too dirty to function, because no one even told them THAT they could be cleaned. Cost them thousands of dollars over the years.
All I'm saying is that cleaning is not intuitive, and not knowing how to clean is not a moral failing, but it is something you can learn.
I'm going to reblog this post with resources for learning how to clean things and how to clean cleaning things (I'm not at my desk at the moment). If you have any favorites, please feel free to add them in too!

the world gets a lot easier when you learn to be wrong without getting pissed or doubling down. saying, ‘you’re right, that makes sense, I was misinformed, thanks for telling me’ instead of going to war over something your ego’s latched onto will save you time, energy, and the embarrassment of sounding like a whiny little bitch

it's crucial that you untie "special interest" from "expertise". "it's true just trust me bro" doesn't have any extra weight when you add "I know because it's my special interest". you are not immune from falling for misinformation, and you are not immune from sharing misinformation. not to mention the fact that "amount of knowledge" isn't even a requirement for something being classified as a special interest lol!

I was talking to my mom the other day, and she said she was going to start going to the gym, because its important care for your body. I’m disabled w/ multiple chronic illnesses, so going to the gym is impossible for me. She seemed to realize this, and started to backtrack, saying like - its part of taking care of herself, and I interrupted and said, “Its okay mom. You and I taking care of ourselves look very different”. And thats what I would like you to know.
Taking care of yourself looks different.
For some people, taking care of themselves looks like fruit smoothies and gym visits, cutting out sugar and weight training.
For some people, taking care of themselves looks like hospital visits, feeding tubes and ports. Needles and tests.
For some people, taking care of themselves looks like taking medication and lying down in a cool dark room.
For some people, taking care of themselves looks like getting any calories in their body that they can.
For some people, taking care of themselves looks like adding in more vegetables and trying to go outside to get sun more often.
For some people, taking care of themselves looks like seeing a therapist, keeping symptom journals, and practicing mindfulness, meds, or grounding techniques.
We all have different needs. Please don’t feel bad about how you care for yourself just because someone else is able to do “more”, or their care is more performative or obvious. Please don’t look down on someone for caring for themselves in a way that you do not. Medication and rest are just as important as exercise and vegetables.
Keep doing your best to care for yourself, the best way you know how. Your self care and health is important, no matter what it looks like.

This take has a lot of nuance but I don’t think you should have a baby with someone who doesn’t want to have a baby. I think that is extremely unethical. Not just for the baby’s other parent but for the child themself. And this happens so fucking often like every other week I see a post that’s like “I told my hookup of 2 months that I’m pregnant and he’s not happy but I want this baby! What do I do?” I would say cop the ‘borsh. It is not about you. Genuinely, it is not. Hopefully you are financially and emotionally prepared to be a single parent and even if you are you’re going to have to look your child in the eyes and say “Your father didn’t want you.” which is fucking awful.
And of course there are additional factors that can come into play in this situation like abortion availability and reproductive assault/coercion. But like. Generally speaking it is a terrible fucking idea to have a child with someone who doesn’t want it.
Also if you broke up with a guy because he is straight up evil or his family is unhinged, SPEED TO THAT ABORTION CLINIC. That is NOT a good situation to bring a child into.

I hate the gymbro side of the internet because a lot of it is extremely toxic but I once saw a gymbro meme that was like “befriending the local trans guy so I can steal his testosterone” and I think that’s hilarious and a great plot idea for a movie. Deeply unhappy bigoted red pill meathead gym rat starts trying to befriend a trans man to steal his testosterone and ends up genuinely clicking with him and going on a journey of self discovery that either ends in the protag realizing he’s gay and in love with his friend or transitioning to a woman.

One legitimately weird thing about Tumblr is that we literally can’t code for shit, many people quit working at Tumblr due to a hostile work environment, and we can’t seem to program a simple blogging website to not flood your RAM.

romance is a type of friendship and im sick of people pretending like they're two seperate categories. your romantic partner is Supposed to also be your friend like at the very least why are we pitting romance AGAINST friendship when they r intertwined???? romantic partners are also friends and u can have romance with ur friends stop acting like these bitches are seperate forces

I was told by a friend of mine who recently completed the same masters program that ChatGPT is a great resource to do quick citation formatting. And out of curiosity, after finishing a project with 30 sources, I figured I'd give it a try to see if it was as reliable of a time-saver as she said.
I carefully checked all of the link urls and ordered them according to my end note references, then pasted the list of links into ChatGPT and asked it to format them according to Chicago style.
Not only was the output completely inconsistent in its formatting (dates were sometimes parenthetical, other times written out, other times omitted completely while organization names were incorrect, and sometimes wavering between APA and MLA formats), but the list COMPLETELY FABRICATED AUTHOR NAMES AND PUBLICATION DATES. It cited one of my sources as being written by a man in 2021 when it was actually written by a woman in 2025. These errors were EVERYWHERE throughout the list.
And yet THIS is the product that companies and institutions are tripping over themselves to integrate into their work? Absolutely bone-chilling.
