You can determine the “nominal” condenser tonnage of your HVAC system by examining the model number on the data plate at the side of the condenser (outdoor unit). Just like the nominal size of lumber or an air conditioning filter, the exact cooling capacity may be a little more or less than the nominal rating, but it’s close.

For Ruud, you should look for the second cluster of digits of the model number. It will be a number divisible by 6 or 12, and represents the nominal BTU of the system in thousands. A ton of air conditioning equals 12,000 BTU, and 24 divided by 12 equals 2, so the data plate below indicates the system is 2 tons.

Here’s a rundown of the range you will encounter: 18 = 1.5 tons, 24 = 2 tons, 30 - 2.5 tons, 36 = 3 tons, 42 = 3.5 tons, 48 = 4 tons, and 60 = 5 tons.

If you are unsure whether you have found the right two numbers, you can double-check it by looking for the “RLA” rating on the data plate. RLA is an acronym for Rated Load Amperage, and is what the maximum amperage should be when the condenser up and running. If you divide the RLA by 6 for older units and 5 or 6 for newer units, you should get a number that approximates (not exactly) the tonnage of the system. Make sure you use RLA and not LRA, Locked Rotor Amperage, which is the surge of amps necessary to overcome inertia and start the system. It averages around five times the RLA.

Disclaimer: Some have questioned our decision to list Traditional Latin Masses (TLMs) administered by the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) and other priests that do not operate under the control and approval of the local diocese or its bishop. However the purpose of this TLM list is to provide Catholics with information on where they can find Traditional Latin Masses in southern California. The list would be incomplete if we were to exclude the Masses provided by the SSPX and so-called independent priests. A validly ordained priest always possesses the power to consecrate the Eucharist, and thus to celebrate a valid Mass. As one canon lawyer put it: 'Therefore, even when a priest says Mass against the wishes of the diocesan bishop in whose territory he is, the Mass is valid, as the Eucharistic sacrifice really does take place. The power to consecrate the Sacred Species can never be taken away from a priest by anyone on earth! Logically, then, the Hosts which are consecrated at an SSPX Mass are truly the Body of Christ—so anybody who receives Holy Communion at such a Mass does so validly.' Although in fairness this same canon lawyer stated the following: 'with the rare exception of absolution in danger of death.. priests of the SSPX do not administer any of the sacraments licitly to the people who approach them. Their sacramental ministry is illicit, or illegal. Period.' However, canon 844 § 2 of the current code of canon law states: 'Whenever necessity requires it or true spiritual advantage suggests it, and provided that danger of error or of indifferentism is avoided, the Christian faithful for whom it is physically or morally impossible to approach a Catholic minister are permitted to receive the sacraments of penance, Eucharist, and anointing of the sick from non-Catholic ministers in whose Churches these sacraments are valid.' Commenting on this section of canon law an associate member of the Canon Law Society of America stated: 'The Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) surely has valid sacraments and is within the Catholic Church, albeit in a canonically irregular status. Furthermore, Pope Francis has extended indefinitely the Year of Mercy mandate that allows Society priests to hear the confessions of and grant absolution to all Catholics. As far as receiving the Eucharist from priests of the SSPX, we can refer to the venerable Regulae iuris (Rule of Law) of Boniface VIII: Cui licet quod est plus, licet utique quod est minus. (He who may do the greater may do the less.) Reg. 53 R.I in VI(.) In application, if a Catholic may receive the Eucharist from a minister who is not in communion with the Church (greater), one could receive (from an) 'irregular' minister (less).' Furthermore, Article 2 of Pope Benedict XVI's motu proprio Summorum Pontificum states that without people present, a priest can say a Tridentine Mass according to the 1962 Missal without the permission of the Apostolic See or his own Bishop. Pope St. Pius V declared in his Apostolic Constitution Quo Primum that the Traditional Latin Mass always had to be available for all Catholics and that no priest could ever be punished for offering the Traditional Latin Mass. The decision to attend and/or support the SSPX, diocese, or independent Masses is up to the prudent discretion of each individual. ​ Regarding the SSPX's lack of 'full communion' I invite others to read this article which provides a different view. Furthermore this list of TLMs in Southern California does not include those ceremonies administered by priests who subscribe to the thesis of sedevacantism, a term derived from the Latin phrase for “empty seat”. The proponents of the sedevacantist thesis generally agree that all the popes after Pope Pius XII cannot be true popes. This thesis is a serious error as shown here, here, here, and here. Furthermore there is no guarantee that the ceremonies administered by priests who subscribe to the sedevacantist thesis are valid because we do not know if they are validly ordained. Key: Diocese: These are Traditional Latin Masses (TLMs) administered by priests that operate under the control and/or approval of either the local diocese or its bishop. These priests accept Vatican 2 and the New Mass or otherwise do not publicly criticize them. (1) FSSP: TLMs administered by priests of the Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP). These are similar to TLMs administered by priests of the local diocese in that they are approved by the local bishop. Furthermore FSSP priests accept Vatican 2 and the New Mass or otherwise do not publicly criticize them. Independent: TLMs administered by priests that are validly ordained but do not operate under the control and/or approval of either the local diocese or its bishop. The Mass however is valid and their other sacraments (i.e. confessions, marriages) may be considered valid through supplied jurisdiction. (2) These priests also accept Francis as the current Pope. In many cases these independent priests publicly reject Vatican 2 and the New Mass. Also please note that these priests do not say Mass using the 1962 Missal. Instead they use prior editions of the Missal. The reasoning of one of these priests for not using the 1962 Missal can be found here. SSPX: These are TLMs administered by priests of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX). These are similar to TLMs administered by independent priests in that they are not under the control and approval of the local diocese and bishop. Yet even the Vatican has, at least once, acknowledged that their Masses are valid and that no sin is incurred in merely attending them. (3) Furthermore in a document from the Holy See dated September 1, 2015, Pope Francis wrote that 'those who during the Holy Year of Mercy approach these priests of the Fraternity of St Pius X to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation shall validly and licitly receive the absolution of their sins.' And on November 20, 2016, the Pope extended this decree by stating that '(f)or the Jubilee Year I had.. granted that those faithful who, for various reasons, attend churches officiated by the priests of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, can validly and licitly receive the sacramental absolution of their sins.15 For the pastoral benefit of these faithful, and trusting in the good will of their priests to strive with God’s help for the recovery of full communion in the Catholic Church, I have personally decided to extend this faculty beyond the Jubilee Year, until further provisions are made, lest anyone ever be deprived of the sacramental sign of reconciliation through the Church’s pardon.' Furthermore in a letter dated March 27, 2017, the Vatican stated that 'the Holy Father.. decided.. to authorize local Ordinaries the possibility to grant faculties for the celebration of marriages of faithful who follow the pastoral activity of the Society (of Saint Pius X), according to the following provisions. Insofar as possible, the local Ordinary is to grant the delegation to assist at the marriage to a priest of the Diocese (or in any event, to a fully regular priest), such that the priest may receive the consent of the parties during the marriage rite, followed, in keeping with the liturgy of the Vetus ordo, by the celebration of the Mass, which may be celebrated by a priest of the Society. Where the above is not possible, or if there are no priests in the Diocese able to receive the consent of the parties, the Ordinary may grant the necessary faculties to the priest of the Society who is also to celebrate the Holy Mass, reminding him of the duty to forward the relevant documents to the Diocesan curia as soon as possible.'The other sacraments administered by priests of the SSPX may be considered valid through supplied jurisdiction. They also accept Francis as the current Pope. SSPX is currently on record as publicly rejecting the New Mass and parts of Vatican 2. To which the Vatican responded: 'It would seem that a modest contribution to the collection at Mass could be justified.' The same Ecclessia Dei Commission had previously stated in a letter dated September 29, 1995 stated: '(t)he Masses they (the Society of St. Pius X) celebrate are also valid, but it is considered morally illicit for the faithful to participate in these Masses unless they are physically or morally impeded from participating in a Mass celebrated by a Catholic priest in good standing (cf. Code of Canon Law, canon 844.2). The fact of not being able to assist at the celebration of the so-called 'Tridentine' Mass is not considered a sufficient motive for attending such Masses.' On March 28, 2012 the Vatican gave the following responses to a letter: '1) Strictly considering the aforementioned canon (1248§1), would a Catholic be able to fulfil his Mass obligation by assisting at Holy Mass at this 'Friends of the Society of St. Pius X' chapel, called Roman Catholic Church in ? Responsum: Negative. 2) Upon the condition that the answer to the first question is in the negative, does a Catholic sin by assisting at Holy Mass at the aforementioned chapel? Responsum: Negative, unless the Catholic substitutes it for his Sunday obligation.' Following a request for clarification the Society of Saint Pius X stated 'the chapel mentioned in the letter... is not a chapel of the Society and that, while its specific name was expressly mentioned by the sender in the deleted data, it is NOT included in the public list of chapels, including those other chapels identified by the Society publicly as 'Friends of the Society of St. Pius X'. It is very possible that this information, easily researched online on the website of the U. S. The first question was: Is it possible to fulfill the Sunday obligation by participating in a Mass celebrated by a priest from Society of St. Pius X, if the participant is not 'against the validity or legitimacy of the Holy Mass or the Sacraments celebrated in the forma ordinaria or against the Roman Pontiff as Supreme Pastor of the Universal Church' and this is the only opportunity in the local area to participate in the Mass in forma extraordinaria (which the participant is highly devoted to)? On November 6, 2012 the Vatican responded by stating: 'In response to your first question this Dicastery would limit itself to referring you to the letter of 10 March 2009 written by Pope Benedict XVI to his brother Bishops in which he stated: 'As long as the Society does not have canonical status in the Church, its ministers do not exercise legitimate ministries in the Church. There needs to be a distinction, then, between the disciplinary level, which deals with individuals as such, and the doctrinal level, at which ministry and institution are involved. In order to make this clear once again: until doctrinal questions are clarified, the Society has no canonical status in the Church, and its ministers-even though they have been freed of the ecclesiastical penalty-do not legitimately exercise any ministry in the Church. The instructions for making a pot of coffee specified 3 scoops (rather than 12,000 grounds) because any measurement is expressed more efficiently with units that are appropriate in size. In science, however, we often must deal with quantities that are extremely small or incredibly large. For example, you may have 5,000,000,000,000 red blood cells in a liter of blood, and the diameter of an iron atom is 0.000000014 inches. Numbers with many zeros can be cumbersome to work with, so scientists use scientific notation.

Scientific notation is a system for expressing very large or very small numbers in a compact manner. It uses the idea that such numbers can be rewritten as a simple number multiplied by 10 raised to a certain exponent, or power.

Let us look first at very large numbers. Suppose a spacecraft is 1,500,000 miles from Mars. The number 1,500,000 can be thought of as follows:

That is, 1,500,000 is the same as 1.5 times 1 million, and 1 million is 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10, or 106 (which is read as “ten to the sixth power”). Therefore, 1,500,000 can be rewritten as 1.5 times 106, or 1.5 × 106. The distance of the spacecraft from Mars can therefore be expressed as 1.5 × 106 miles.

The standard convention for expressing numbers in scientific notation is to write a single nonzero first digit, a decimal point, and the rest of the digits, excluding any trailing zeros (see rules for significant figures in the next section for more details on what to exclude). This number is followed by a multiplication sign and then by 10 raised to the power necessary to reproduce the original number. For example, although 1,500,000 can also be written as 15. × 105 (which would be 15. × 100,000), the convention is to have only one digit before the decimal point. How do we know to what power 10 is raised? The power is the number of places you have to move the decimal point to the left to place it after the first digit, so that the number being multiplied is between 1 and 10:

Program Filezilla Connect

The process of transferring a file from your computer to your website is often referred to as 'uploading' that file or 'publishing' it.For web hosts that supportFTP (short for 'File Transfer Protocol') or SFTP (a secure form of the File Transfer Protocol), you need a programcalled an 'FTP client' to transfer the file.

This tutorial deals with how you can transfer a file to your web server using afree FTP client known as FileZilla.Versions for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X are available. I will describe the Windows version of this program, but if you useanother operating system, chances are that it works very similarly.

Download and Install FileZilla

First, go to the FileZilla download page and obtain the appropriateversion for your system. For Windows, get the Setup version; at the time I wrote this, it's the one labelled '(recommended)' under the Windows section.

Once you have downloaded the program, you will have to install it. Go to your desktop and doubleclick the file that you have justdownloaded. Follow the instructions to install it to your hard disk.

Preliminary Steps

Before you can upload any file to your site, you will also need some information from your web host.In particular, you will need to find out the following:

The name of the FTP server for your website. For example, your host may tell you that your FTP hostname is 'ftp.example.com'.

Your user id or login username for your FTP account.

Your password for your FTP account.

The directory where you need to place your files so that they can be seen by a web browser visiting your site. For example, your host maytell you to place the files in a subdirectory called 'www' or 'public_html' or even the default directory that you see when you log intoyour FTP site.

If your web host tells you that you do not have FTP access, you cannot use this tutorial. You will haveto use whatever method the web host has designated for you to upload your files, such as a file manager inyour web hosting account's control panel.

Steps to Uploading or Publishing a File to Your Web Server

For the purpose of this tutorial, I will assume that you wish to upload a file called 'feedback.php'. Everytime you see 'feedback.php'mentioned, you can substitute that name with the name of the file you actually wish to upload. FileZilla does not restrict youto uploading only files of that name. You can upload images (eg, GIF, JPG, PNG, etc), HTML files, video clips, music files(eg MP3 files, WAV files, MIDI files), Perl scripts, PHP scripts, entire directories (ie, folders) containing files,and so on. For the curious: I use 'feedback.php' as the example file because this guide was originally written to helpthose who use my free Feedback Form Wizardto upload the generated form to their website.

Program Like Filezilla

If you see a dialog box with the title 'Site Manager' when you start up FileZilla, go to the next step.If not, click the 'File' menu followed by the 'Site Manager' item on that menu. A dialog box will appear.

Click the 'New Site' button. This creates a new item under 'My Sites' (or 'My FTP Sites' dependingon which version of FileZilla you are using) called 'New site' (or 'New FTP site' in older versions)

Rename 'New site' (or whatever the initial name was) to the name of your site. By default, thekeyboard cursor would have been placed in the name portion of 'New site' allowing you to change itimmediately. If you have lost the cursor because you accidentally clicked somewhere else in the dialogbox, you can get it back by simply clicking once on the name. Note that this name can be anything you wish.It is not required for accessing your site. However, you will probably make your life easier if you changeit to your site's name rather than some random string of characters.

On the right side of the dialog box, under the tab 'General', enter the name of your FTP server in the'Host' input box. For example, if your web host told you that your FTP hostname is 'ftp.example.com',enter 'ftp.example.com' into the space provided.

Leave the 'Port' entry box alone. If your web host tells you to connect using SFTP, click the drop-downbox for the 'Protocol' field, and select 'SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol'. If they tell you to connect with FTP,choose 'FTP - File Transfer Protocol'. If they allow both, select the SFTP entry, because that will encrypt yourconnection, hopefully protecting your password from being intercepted by others.

Use your mouse and select 'Normal' from the drop down list box for 'Logon Type'. This will enable the 'User' and'Password' boxes for the next step.

Enter your user id or your login name (or whatever your web host calls it) into the 'User' input box, and your passwordinto the 'Password' input box. Note that this information is automatically saved onto your computer and will be re-used thenext time you run FileZilla, so you do not have to re-enter them again. (It also means that you should not use FileZillain this way on computers that others may have access to, such as those found in an Internet cafe or a public library.)

Click the 'Connect' button. FileZilla will proceed to log into your server. If it is successful, you will see adirectory listing of your website's account on the right hand side of the FileZilla window. I shall refer tothis as the Remote Site pane. The left hand side shows the directories and files on your own computer. This isthe Locate Site pane.

If your web host told you to only upload in a specific subdirectory on the web server, such as in the 'www' or 'public_html'directory, change to that directory by doubleclicking its name in the folder portion of Remote Site pane.FileZilla will open that folder accordingly and show you its contents.

Next, locate the file that you wish to upload in the Local Site pane. Both window panesbehave mostly like Windows Explorer windows, so navigating them should not be unduly hard. Once you have located thefile you wish to upload, say 'feedback.php', drag that file to the Remote Site pane. Another way is to right-clickthe file (that is, click the right mouse button while the pointer is hovering over the filename) and select 'Upload'.

The file will then be transferred to the folder that is currently open on the Remote Site pane,so make sure you have changed to the appropriate directory before initiating the upload.

If a file of the same name already exists on your web host's computer, FileZilla will pop up a dialog box askingyou what to do. Click the checkbox 'Apply to current queue only' to put a tick in it, followed by the 'OK' button,and the program will proceed to overwrite the existing file. On the other hand, if you realised that you have madea mistake and tried to transfer the wrong file, click the 'Cancel' button to abort the transfer.

Note that you can also upload entire directories (folders) by selecting that folder and dragging it to theRemote site pane. When you do so, FileZilla will automatically transfer the folder and its contents.In addition, if you want to upload everything in the Local site pane, you can avoid the hassle of individuallyuploading them by selecting everything in one go, then right clicking the selection and clicking'Upload'. FileZilla will proceed to tranfer your entire selection, probably a few files at a time.

For those who don't know how to select everything in one go, first click one file or folder in the Local sitepane. Then hold down the Ctrl key (on your keyboard) and type 'a'. This causes everything there tobe selected. (Note that Mac users may have to hold down the Cmd key instead.) You can also select multipleindividual files for uploading by holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard while clicking those files with the mouse.(I have no idea what the equivalent for this on a Mac is.)

As FileZilla proceeds to transfer the file or files to your site, you should be able to see the progress inthe bottommost window pane in FileZilla. When the upload has completed, you can disconnect from your website. Dothis by clicking the 'Server' menu followed by the 'Disconnect' item.

Congratulations! You have successfully uploaded one or more files to your website using FileZilla.

What if there was a simple, inexpensive mineral supplement that would work for weight loss, lower appetite, lower body fat, and lower blood sugars? In 1977, a patient at Toronto General Hospital received intravenous nutrition for 3 ½ years. She developed high blood sugars, nerve damage, and high triglycerides in her blood. All this resolved with chromium. This was the first documentation of human chromium deficiency. The epidemic of inadequate chromium is now well documented, with high blood sugars, high triglycerides, and unwanted weight gain. Any of that sound familiar? If so, it may partly be explained by inadequate chromium.

Every American struggling with unwanted weight gain should consider taking chromium polynicotinate (GTF) for the following reasons:

Look at the evidence for chromium deficiency reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition:

The FDA’s Reference Daily Intake for chromium is a minimum of 120 mcg per day.

Over 90% of typical diets in the U.S. provide less than 50 mcg of chromium per day!

Americans, on average, consume only 25-35 mcg of chromium per day.

Due to low chromium in common chromium-containing foods (i.e. eggs, bread, milk, tuna, apples, oranges, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, etc), you would need LOTS of food and over 10,000 calories per day to get adequate chromium. Do you see the problem? Our common foods that have some chromium are still very low in chromium!

But don’t worry, the Mayo Clinic website has the answer. They recommend chromium-rich foods like brewer’s yeast, calf liver, and wheat germ! Hmmm…. not exactly top choices for most of us. No wonder we are deficient!

Is There Chromium In Eggs

Although minimum recommendations are 120 mcg of chromium per day, the ideal amount seems to be closer to 1,000 mcg per day, especially for those with diabetes, metabolic syndrome, or excessive weight gain.

Does chromium supplementation work? Let’s look at some compelling research…

Research Study #1: Chromium improves sugar metabolism and diabetes tendencies.

In Biological Trace Elements Research Journal, researchers stated “Glucose intolerance, related to insufficient chromium appears to be widespread. Improved chromium nutrition leads to improved sugar metabolism in hypoglycemics, hyperglycemics, and diabetics.” And, “The hallmark sign of chromium deficiency is impaired glucose tolerance.”

This means that the most common finding with low chromium is “sugar intolerance”, which leads to weight gain from sugar, an elevated blood sugar, pre-diabetes, high blood insulin, and/or diabetes type 2.

Other researchers in 1998 (Journal of the American College of Nutrition) concluded that chromium has benefits without known side effects in people with glucose intolerance and diabetes, improving blood sugars, cholesterol, and HgA1C levels.

Research Finding #2: Chromium supports lean body mass (muscle building).

Research has shown that Chromium GTF causes greater loss of fat and less loss of muscle than dieting without chromium. A study in weight lifters showed much greater muscle gain with chromium!

Research Finding #3: Chromium reduces appetite and cravings in dieters, supporting weight loss.

The Journal of Psychiatric Practice in 2005 studied a dose of 600 mcg of chromium in patients with atypical depression, most of whom were overweight. They found that chromium reduced appetite, improved carbohydrate cravings, lowered overall eating, and, coincidentally, that low sex drive improved. These are all common symptoms of depression; so all symptoms were of interest to the researchers. The bottom line is that if you have experienced stress or some depression symptoms and weight gain, chromium may work for you!

In 2008, Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics reported that 1,000 mcg daily of chromium reduced food intake, hunger levels, and fat cravings, suggesting that chromium helps regulate food intake through appetite control in the brain.

In fact, patients taking chromium “automatically” reduced food intake by 207 calories per day, simply because of decreased cravings for carbohydrates and sweets!

Why Chromium GTF over Chromium Picolinate and other chromium compounds?

Chromium GTF is chemically known as chromium polynicotinate. It is chromium that is chemically bound to natural Vitamin B3 (nicotinic acid or niacin) creating a safe compound that functions as a glucose tolerance factor (GTF). This very natural version of chromium supplies Vitamin B3 and chromium at the same time. The result is better absorption and more confidence that the chromium will actually work. It has been determined safe at up to 350 times the reference intake.

Research in labs on ovary cells has demonstrated that chromium picolinate produces chromosome damage with the potential to trigger cells to become cancer. Two cases of kidney failure were associated with chromium picolinate.

Another study with chromium polynicotinate in obese women who were exercising experienced significant weight loss while obese women using chromium picolinate demonstrated a significant weight gain.

Chromium GTF is better absorbed and more bioavailable than other versions of chromium. In fact, chromium GTF is absorbed into body tissues 3 times greater than chromium picolinate and 2 times greater than chromium chloride!

Conclusion:

At the Center For Nutrition, we recommend Chromium GTF tablets with 200 mcg of chromium polynicotinate. If you have unwanted weight gain, carbohydrate cravings, an excessive appetite, or problems with sugar or fat metabolism, consider a total of 1,000 mcg of chromium daily. Check your multivitamin for chromium. If you are in excellent health, at an ideal weight, 1 tablet daily may be enough. For the rest of us, adding enough to get to the 900-1100 mcg per day is recommended. Adding 2-5 Chromium GTF tablets per day, depending on your multivitamin, will guarantee what we believe to be an optimum dose.
