Equilibrium
So, a few days ago I was watching “Equilibrium” for the 100th time and suddenly realized that the story wasn’t working for me anymore. I’m not sure what happened. Maybe I’ve grown up, or maybe the photo of Partridge and Mary looked so crazy photoshopped.

And then it just hit me — everything was not like that! For history is written by the victors and so on. Remember what Henry VII of England did to poor Richard III? Yes, yes, I’m that old.
Anyway, this simple thought has sorted it all out for me, and I can’t help sharing with somebody.
So, we have Libria, a totalitarian city-state, we have “Prozium”, the cure for war and hate, and we have a Grammaton Cleric First Class John Preston, a walking emotion detector, a human killing machine. One day Preston finds out that his partner, also a Grammaton Cleric, Errol Partridge, has ceased his dose and become a sense offender. Let’s not start thinking about how he does all this detecting stuff just yet.
And this is where our story begins. Preston takes an intern cleric named Brandt and goes to arrest his partner. They find him in the Nethers, the abandoned city from the past.

To be continued. Maybe.
