Monthly Reverse Gets: "It was me, I stole all your good luck" Edition

Ms. NewBabel joined my account after *checks notes* doing one discounted 10 pull on the Euphoria banner. I did have 10 pity built up from the Euphoria banner in 2.3, but it was basically NewBabel in 20 pulls (except it was discounted, so NB in 14 pulls). She joined just in time to help me clear out 300M before 2.5's big Reveries update (which will go up to 400M and is supposed to require 4 teams rather than 3).

I tried to pull for Fatutu since I already had her Resonance + Insight Materials grinded two patches ago. I lost the 50/50 to... Lilya of all characters. Not gonna lie, this left me mad. Not because I dislike Lilya, but because R1999 really gave me Lilya after I already went ahead and decided to pre-grind Liang Yue "because I might as well, I mean don't have Lilya or a Star Reality DPS anyway". I'll still build Euphoria Lilya, but would it kill R1999 to give me a Beast character or something? I'm already drowning in untrained Star characters (see: Lorelei, Matilda, Ezra, Regulus, Apple)

Missing out on Fatutu because I got greedy with Flutterpage was a teachable moment, basically karma for all the insane pulls I've gotten so far. Except it wasn't a teachable moment because...

The sequence of events leading to Fatutu: watch 2.5 stream > see that 2.5 will have a free 10 Pull for the Liang Yue banner > "I should have more than enough to hard pity Liang Yue with that" > "Let's build pity for Recoleta on Fatutu banner" > Fatutu jumpscare

Even though her costume is in 2.6, I decided to build Erick a bit early. I messed around with her in the Echoes of Opera raid, though she's sadly not as strong in that Raid as Mondlicht or Eagle. She is quite nice in Phototaxis 2.4 though.

Future Plans:

I'm still picking up Liang Yue. Mostly because 2.5 is a patch laser targeted directly at me (Hong Kong film themed CNY patch let's goooooo) and I'm a sucker for Liang Yue's concept (martial artist / actor / super cop). This is basically like getting Arcanist Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan in R1999. I mean, you can't tell me her costume isn't channeling a little bit of Bruce Lee/Kato in the Green Hornet.

Loggerhead will happen while I pick up Liang Yue.

I actually have no other plans. Recoleta would be nice to have but I'm not getting my hopes up. 2.7 looks like a complete skip. I'm more concerned about catching up my other units who are getting future Euphoria: Pickles Euphoria in 2.5, Medicine Pocket in 2.6 and Jiu in 2.7. I also have to fit the Euphorias for Bkorn, Voyager, Matilda and Lilya somewhere.

Monthly Reverse Gets: 2.3 Edition

New characters:

Flutterpage: Despite saying I wouldn't pull for Flutterpage, I ended up pulling for Flutterpage because, well, it's Flutterpage! (You win this time Bluepoch)

Brimley: I also justified the FP pulls by telling myself it was for Brimley. I got him with several portrays, too bad I can't afford to build him for a while.

Regulus: I had to hard pity Flutterpage but my ridiculously good luck kicked in again, because instead of needing 140 pulls, it was closer to 70/80 pulls (Regulus popped up at pull 20, and FP showed up earlier than the hard pity).

Leveled Up:

Baby Blue: I finally ended up building her, and at just the perfect time too. She ended up being ridiculously useful in a few Reveries stages.

The Fool: Just like Pavia, I actually leveled up his Resonance by a decent amount, because I did not realize the value of Reso Mats early in my account. My OCD won out and I upgraded him to Max. I'm just lucky that the Fool is actually genuinely useful on 300M-3 (though he didn't need to be at Max Reso for it...)

Pickles: I was always going to build him because of how good his Euphoria is, but I moved up the timetable because I was paranoid about Fatutu and Barcarola swapping banners in 2.4 (just like Jay and Mercuria in 2.0) and wanted to have some other Mineral support ready for the next Reveries update in... 2.5, I think?

Anjo Nala: Despite placing her on the "never, ever max out" tier, I was forced to level her up because of Reveries. It's not impossible to get through Reveries without her, but it does require some characters I very specifically do not have on my account. Boy is Anjo busted. She didn't even need to be at R10 to help me clear several levels (my low Anjo Reso level clear of 200M Moldir stage actually made it on the Reveries Database)

Erick: I usually use free costumes as an excuse to build lower rarities, and I'm building up Erick for the Dwarven Knight costume in 2.6. I'm planning to use the extra resources from 2.5 (it's gonna have a double battle pass like 2.2, right?) to build her up in time for 2.6. It helps that I have Lopera (who is great at turbo boosting low tier characters).

Apple/White Rum: These are two low rarity characters I'm training up for Reveries. Both have some utility; Apple can heal on Attack, just like Lopera, and I want to use him with Kakania, while White Rum has a pretty useful stun effect.

Euphoria Eternity: I ended up giving Eternity her Euphoria. I originally did it because one of her passives (the one that increases party HP, since I didn't have Euphoria NewBabel or Sotheby for sustain) but she's come in clutch a few other times. It helps that I happen to have Jay and a P1 Semmelweis too.

Future:

Fatutu: I always wanted her anyway, but holy shit do I need Fatutu bad after 300M-2. She's not the perfect counter to that stage, but she's a straight upgrade to all the cleansers we have in the game right now, since her cleanse is on her Rank 1 buff (unlike all the Ult cleansers) and it's also all targeting (unlike Six or Brimley only being able to cleanse 1 at a time).

Liang Yue: I was always going to pick her up, but I am a bit more anxious about it since, according to a CN player, there is one new Reveries stage (I think in the 400s) where most of the clears are done with Liang Yue. They said something along the lines of "99% of clears are done with Liang Yue, and the other 1% is done with Windsong". I do not have Windsong on my account, so it's very important I lock in and save up enough for Liang Yue. It'll be a bit tight since I've pulled on every patch since 2.2.

Loggerhead: I don't have any specific plans to get her, but I believe she will be on the same banner as her patch's Limited character, Liang Yue (just like Jiu + Yenisei and Anjo + Duncan for 1.6 and 2.2 respectively). Meaning I either pick her up while pulling for Liang Yue, or I have enough pulls from the event shop to buy a copy anyway.

Monthly Reverse Gets: 2.2 Edition

It's been a while, the first of 2025 at least.

New characters since the last post:

J: I thankfully managed to get him though I had to skip over the 2.1 characters... not that it was a hard decision. Tuesday would have been a waste without Sotheby and I didn't need another Plant Sub-DPS like Argus.

Barbara: Still managed to get Barbara on the first 10 pulls of Tuesday's banner though. R1999 has made it so that the first 10 pulls on brand new banners always gives you a 5* character. I lucked out with Barbara though still pulled on Argus with the excuse of building pity for 2.2.

Kaalaa Baunaa: I decided to try my luck on the Golden Thread right at the end of 2024. It was right for my account since I realized how badly I needed more Mineral and Beast characters, and I was guaranteed at least one of those. I admit that my account needed a Beast character way more, but KB was a fine backup option after seeing my Jiu and Semmelweis struggle to hit 850K on Marsh Creation.

Ezra: My free 6* for the 2.2 patch. Despite liking Ezra as a character, I was definitely a little mad at this. Just because I figured that, with almost no Beast 6* characters on my account, I had a better shot of getting one from the selector. I actually ran the numbers afterward and apparently I had an equal chance of getting a random Star vs Beast character, because R1999 just has that many Star characters for some reason.

Lopera: AKA the Colombian Terminator is finally here to save my account from being Chronically Beast-less. She's soooo good. Thanks to her Bullet gimmick I can actually run Tennant and Mondlicht in challenging content (like using Mondlicht in Limbo or having Tennant hit 1.13M damage in a specific Raid).

Mr. Duncan: While Lopera is nice, I still need more Beast characters, so I ended up pulling on the Anjo banner just for him. I ended up with a P3 Duncan. He is... okay. Definitely feels a bit too much like Desert Flannel (and not in a good way) and he actually doesn't synergize that well with Tennant or Mondlicht, but he's okay.

Anjo Nala: Since the pity wasn't going to carry over, I went all the way to 60/70 pulls on her banner. I was really hoping I'd lose the 50/50 but I ended up getting Anjo. Despite being desperate for Beast characters, Anjo is disgustingly OP so she's going in the "never seriously leveling you up" box with Lucy.

Leveled Up:

I have a bunch of new Maxed Out characters: Leilani, John Titor, Mondlicht and Pavia. Leilani I went ahead and finished since I didn't like her being R9. Pavia is another character I already had trained up (I tried to max him out early on my account). John Titor and Mondlicht were done since they're getting free Costumes in future patches, though Mondlicht ended up being an excellent level up now that I have Lopera. I think The Fool will be next since he's getting a costume in 2.5.

J, KB, Lopera and Duncan were all finished up.

I still have a lot of characters stuck at Insight 3. Brief Cacophony is just ridiculously scarce.

I ended up getting Bunny Bunny and Ms. Radio to Insight 1. Just because of the UTTU replacement mode in 2.2 Bunny Bunny has specific shenanigans due to how Insights work, while I used Ms. Radio for one stage purely to have her die / block enemy Ults on Turn 1.

Future Plans:

Like 2.1, 2.3 is just not a good patch for my account. Willow is another Poison character and while Flutterpage will be nice to have, I need Fatutu/Liang Yue way more. I will be leaving 2.3 with Brimley though. If I don't get him from the first 10 pulls, he'll still be on my account since I have enough Golden Cassettes saved up.

Gonna pick up Fatutu from 2.4 since I still need to fill out the Mineral side of my account.

Liang Yue is too cool not to pick up, though it also helps that she's a Star Reality character (I don't currently have one, just an untrained Erick and low Portray Blonney).

It's been so long since I did one of these that two whole new character classifications (EX Festival + Yukkuri) now exist. Also the Touhou 19 characters got added.

New Characters:

Oh right, they added Yukkuris to LW. You don't even have to pull for them, they're free, though you do need to grind out specific Pulls to MLB them. Yukkuri Flandre isn't actually out yet but I'm obviously claiming her after Maintenance ends today.

To nobody's surprise, I picked up the new TH19 characters. Enoko, Chiyari and Biten were released last year, Zanmu was in late December and Hisami was added like two weeks ago.

LW dumped a whole bunch of new characters on me while I wasn't looking. All of these would have been from "Free Prayers for X Days / Spin the Wheel of Pulls" because I know I wouldn't have picked Koishi or Underage Junko on my own.

I picked up EX Lily White. Just because I wanted a character from the new rarity type, and I think Lily White has a pretty cute White Mage design.

I needed footage of Kaiju Letty for the Lost Word video I'm editing, but nobody actually had her, so I was forced to pull her myself.

Power Rangers Kaguya happened because there was a Free Ema, and I really wanted to complete the Power Rangers Moon Squad.

Randomly got "TH6 Lyrica" from the 'Rindou Roulette

And I used the New Years Ema to pick up Power Rangers Rei'sen. I'm planning to upload Kaguya and Rei'sen's Animas soon. Only problem is that I have no more Divine Paper Dolls for Rei'sen...

Future:

We've gotten new Genics every year. Since we went Shinki/Mima (Shinki is TH5) > Gengetsu/Mugetsu (TH4), it might be safe to assume next up is Yumemi/Chiyuri. Not sure how they'll do TH2, but TH1 would be easy with Sariel/Konngara.

The only remaining Touhou characters they could add are IIRC Mizuchi and playable Rinnosuke, Tokiko and Miyoi (OG). I don't think it's really possible for LW to hold out until another Touhou game releases.

I'm going to be shocked if this game lasts another 2 years. Like, surely the whales are going to get sick of paying for reskins of the same 10 popular characters right?

It's basically a Christmas / New Year's Tradition at this point, but another Touhou M-1 Grand Prix is temporarily free on R-Note's YouTube Channel. This one features characters up to Touhou 18.

Fun fact: the "immortal flower" Sotheby was searching for in her anecdote is likely a red amaranth. Its name comes from the greek word "amarantos," which means "unfading" or "immortal," and it was considered a sacred flower to Artemis.

Below are some pictures of the red amaranth, which fit really well with Sotheby and Sonetto's description of them!

As for "dale cow tongue," I think it refers to gasteria, a type of succulent known with the common name "cow's tongue" or "ox tongue." The plant's leaves typically have these little white dots on them, which might be why arcanists called them "dyed pearl grass."

Lastly, the straight-forward ingredients that they spelled out for us. "Jamaican pepper" is allspice and "the hoof of a four-legged beast" is just horse hoof (very understandable because horses are dangerous and their kicks can kill you).

Congrats! We've successfully turned them into doomed yuri juice: pink and green flavor.

I took a taste test and the two flavor actually make for an interesting combo! Fruity with... a kind of bitter after taste? There's a bit of salt too, but I think it's a side effect from my tears (and theirs) while making this.

I hope 137 of you who voted for this are happy with the result :') And sorry for the 99 people who want them to be happy, it seems that they're doomed in this timeline too. I'm not sure if the 50 people who voted like me for only Kakania to be blended are happy too, but at least we won't have Isolde with a knife after us.
