Hey!!! I hope you could help me with this, it's about the SOP, I tried searching examples but they are very different especially regarding the Study Plan. What I want to know if is more like full thesis statement and all procedures involved, or is more personal? I would be extremely grateful for your answer.
Hello,
I am sorry, I actually don鈥檛 think I could help you here because I am unsure what you are talking about myself. If you could explain more, I might be able to help but I don鈥檛 really know.

Hi! I'm studying at Ewha this spring semester and I applied through ISEP. I requested a single room but got a double. I was wondering if you knew anyone that made it off the waiting list? I'm trying to decide if I should just get a goshiwon or not. Thank you!
Hello, this is probably too late. Sorry I didn鈥檛 get back to you on time. But I will still answer your question. During my year, I heard it was very difficult to get a single room. There was also this speculation going around where single rooms were given to males first. When I was there, it was definitely noticeable that more males had single rooms than females. Not sure if it鈥檚 still like that, but it is possible for a single room to open up, I just would not get my hopes up. To be honest, I would not prefer staying at a goshiwon as well. They are very small and you have to be pretty quiet. But if you plan on to explore and going out every day and wont be at the goshiwon, then it should be okay.
Hope this helps someone.

hey! i鈥檓 planning on studying abroad to ewha next year and i wanted to know if you get to choose what building (a, b, c, d, e) you live in at the i-house or is it randomly assigned?
I believe it is randomly assigned. I was given my room without having the chance to pick the dorm. However, you are able to pick from double room or single room.

Hey! Do you know if you can stay in the dorms during winter break? Or do you have to get out? I'm planning on doing two semesters abroad at Ewha but I don't know where to stay when you can't stay there..
Hello! You are allowed to stay in the dorms for winter break; however, you would have to pay for the winter dorm fees, which are more expensive than the fall and spring semesters. The check out day is literally the last day of fall semester. I also did two semesters and during the break, I just moved out of the dorms and stayed in a goshiwon. There are other options. If you need more information about it, feel free to message me more!

Hi are you still active? I want to apply as a freshman but I鈥檓 kinda lost about the process and I would to ask you for some advices if possible thanks!!
Hello, sorry for the late reply. Applying depends on your university. For me, I applied through ISEP. Others apply through a different program, others apply directly through Ewha, and others apply directly through their home university. If you can clarify which you will be doing, I may be able to help further. I鈥檓 sorry 馃様

Hello~ Thank you for your insights of Ewha. My question is, do you remember the size of the dorm beds? I'm going to Ewha this fall, I'd like to bring my own bed sheets rather than rent them. ^^"
Hello, I believe the dorm beds are twin XL

I have a question about dorms because I鈥檓 hoping to go to ewha for a semester next year. You said in the dorm post that you have to get staying out overnight approved. So if you go clubbing and would you have to get that approved or is it if you were going and staying somewhere for a weekend? Sorry if it鈥檚 a dumb question lol.
Hello, Sorry for the late reply. So you are told to complete a form if you are staying out late; however, I have never done it myself. I have stayed out multiple times without filling out the paperwork. They are not strict about it and they do not check. It鈥檚 more for safety in a way.

Is it possible to get a job in korea while being an exchange student? I see on YouTube that some exchange students also have jobs, and I was wondering if that was possible (if Ewha has any rules regarding that also)
If you only have a D-2 Visa, it is illegal to work in Korea because a D-2 Visa only allows you to be a student while abroad. However, if you are a D-2 Visa who has completed one full semester in Korea, it is possible to work. Hope this helps.
Thank you,
C.

Sorry if someone has asked you this already. How many credits are you taking per semester while abroad and how difficult would you say the work load/grading is compared to your home university? I feel like Korean university might have a higher standard. I want to do well academically but I also don't want to spend all my time there studying.
Hello, sorry for the late reply.
I am only taking 15 credits this semester. For undergraduates, the minimum number of credits is 9 and the maximum is 18. Though the minimum is 9 credits, consult with your home university adviser to see their requirements because universities differ from one another. Out of the 15 credits I am taking, 2 classes (3 credits each) are online, one class (3 credits) is an art elective, and the Korean Academic class (6 credits). Thus, my semester is much easier than others. However, from what I heard, the classes are similar to America in a way. Most classes have either weekly readings, quizzes, or assignments depending on course. Usually all classes have a midterm and a final. The hardest part in my case would be attendance. As an American college student, attendance was never a large part of my grade, missing a few classes could do. However, in Korea, classes typically will fail you after missing class for the fourth time. This is all I can say for my part since I am not taking stressful courses this semester. I hoped this helped a bit.聽
Thank you,
C.

How easy/difficult has it been to make friends at Ewha? I鈥檓 not the best at that kinda stuff so I just wanna prep myself hohoho
Hello,
It is much easier making friends abroad. Remember, everyone is on the same boat as you, mostly everyone came alone and is looking for a friend. I suggest making friends right away as it could be difficult later on as people begin making groups.聽
I too am also extremely bad at making friends, but have made a few while being here. If you are dorming, your roommate is somewhere to start.聽
I know it can be difficult, but try to get out of your bubble and just come up to someone and start talking to them, whether it be in the elevator or during the orientation.
I hope this helps,
and good luck,
C.

hiii i was wondering when did you get to check in the dorms? and when did the session begin bc i will be moving as well and i鈥檓 worried abt where to stay before i get to check in! thank you
hello,
they will tell you the exact move in date before the semester starts. I believe check in was about more than a week before the school starts. There are plenty of cheap Airbnb places you can look into that are extremely near Ewha. It should not be a problem. If it is, please contact me. I will love to personally help you if you are coming within this school year.

#6 I-House Dormitory
Hello everyone,
For this post, I will be talking about the dormitory orientation and dorm life here at Ewha.
The dormitory orientation took place in the beginning of the semester; I do not remember the exact date. They have multiple dormitory orientation based on language; Chinese, English, and Korean. During the dorm check-in, we were given a handbook which we were told to bring at the orientation. The orientation itself was also straight forward. It basically repeated what was in the handbook.
Below, I will share a couple of rules/regulations to help you decide if you want to dorm at I-House or not.
Remember, these rules/regulations are based on the spring 2018 semester and for I-House (there are two other dorms in Ewha, I-House being for graduate and international students; however, it is possible to live at E-house).
No guests are able to entire your room and are only allowed in certain areas, such as the lounge. That also means no overnight guest.
There are no microwaves allowed in the dorm, but can be found in each floor located in the kitchenette. However, the kitchenettes are not to be used for cooking and must go to the 1st basement floor of Building C.
Non-smoking. I-House is also located right beside an elementary school and prohibits smoking in certain areas outside the dorm.
No curfew (I believe the other two dorms in Ewha have curfews)
If you plan on staying out overnight, you must notify the office and get approved. They will ask for the days you will be out and where you will be during that time.
Those are just a couple of rules/regulations to point out there. Of course, there are the typical rules/regulations that most dorms have, such as no weapons, no alcohol, quiet hours, and so on.
I would also like to point out that the dorms can evict you by violating a single rule, which include: smoking, causing a fire, keeping a pet, moving in and out of the dorm, and so on. They also have demerit points, where demerit points are given to individuals who violate the dormitory policies. Some penalties are given 5 demerit points, while others can give 2 demerit points. Nonetheless, after reaching a total of 10 demerit points, you will be evicted.
Although this may sound scary, it is really nice living at the I-House. Do not let the demerit points scare you, just try not to cause a fire please. The office workers are extremely nice and it is actually quite difficult to obtain demerit points unless you do cause a problem. Just be smart, do not smoke inside the building or near the building, do not have guest, and just follow the simple rules.
Enough of that, now I will talk to you about the dorms itself. There are a total of 4 building in the I-House: Building A & B, Building C, Building D, and Building E. For this semester, Building E is not being used as is actually located in the back corner compared to the other buildings. Building A & B are connected and are the main buildings to this dorm. All buildings are attached through the 2nd basement floor, or the parking garage. The housing office, security office, lounge, computer room, seminar room, study room, fitness room, multi-purpose hall, and laundry and ironing room are located in the 2nd basement floor of building A & B. In the lounge, there is a large television that we can use to watch movies and shows with your friends (bring your own HDMI cable). The computer room has computers setup in both English and Korean; there is also a printer that prints B&W for 100 won (0.10 USD). The fitness room is quite small if you do heavy machine/weight workouts. The have treadmills, bicycles, a bench press, and very few other machines. The laundry and ironing room has a washing machine, drying machine, and an ironing machine with a board. As stated before, all floors of each building have a kitchenette where a microwave, purified water, and an oven toaster can be found. The common kitchen is located in Building C. I have not seen the common kitchen myself, so I do not know what they have, but you do need to supply yourself with your own materials, such as pots and pans. Building C, 1st basement floor has a convenience store, seminar room, oratory multicultural meditation room, lounge, and a laundry and ironing room. 2nd basement floor has a computer room with a printer. Building D, 1st basement floor has a lounge and a laundry and ironing room as well.
And I believe that鈥檚 it for now.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Remember to follow me on instagram or snapchat to get a more personal look of my life in Korea.
Until next time,
C.

For me, I am under the exchange program and I paid my tuition through my home university. I did have to pay for an application fee under ISEP once completing it, but it was not a large fee. Based on the program you are under, it varies so you should ask an your program advisor. The dorms are first come first serve; however, after completely the application from Ewha, you will have a spot saved for you. It鈥檚 okay, if you have any other questions, please do ask. Sorry for the little information, but I hope it helped in some ways.Thank you,C.

Hello,
I did not get a shirt. Do you know if they were giving it out for free? If they were giving it out for free and I missed it, mygosh!聽
I know we are able to buy them at the stores they have inside the ECC.
But I hope they weren鈥檛 giving it out for free and I didn鈥檛 get one, because I would be upset. AHAHA.
