How to Repair damage EDB File and export the mailbox data into .pst file
When the Exchange 2003 Server becomes corrupt, in most of the situations, Microsoft Exchange Information Store service does not start. In some occasions it does start. Still one will have to address many issues related to the information store. An easiest way to address such issues is to export Exchange user mailboxes to PST format.
Exchange Information Store Corruption
By the corruption of Exchange Server 2003, data from its information store becomes completely or partially inaccessible. Information Store, which is constituted by Priv1.edb, Priv1.stm, Pub1.edb and Pub1.stm database files, is crucial to the healthy functioning of Exchange Server. The table below shoes information contained in each of these database files:
ExMerge Utility to Deal with Exchange Information Store Corruption
Microsoft Exchange Server Mailbox Merge Wizard (ExMerge) is a simple, free-to-download Microsoft utility to deal with Exchange Information Store corruption. It extracts EDB to PST files and then merges the same to mailboxes on another server. It is available for all Exchange versions form 5.5 to 2003, but was replaced by Export-Mailbox/Import-Mailbox facilities in Exchange 2007.
How to Download ExMerge for Exchange 2003
ExMerge utility (Exmrge.EXE) for Exchange 2003, can be downloaded from the Microsoft download page http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=2743 free. It supports Windows 2000 Service Pack 3, and Windows Server 2003 operating systems. Other instructions are available on the previously mentioned webpage.
ExMerge Operation Modes – One Step and Two Step
ExMerge has two modes of operation – One Step (for Extract and Import) and Two Step (for Extract or Import).
In One Step mode, the administrator extracts mailboxes from one Exchange and imports to another through an intermediate PST file. Here the source mailbox and the destination mailbox should have the same name and container path.
In Two Step mode, the Server mailboxes are extracted to PST file or PST files are imported to Server mailbox.
How to Perform Data Recovery Using ExMerge
Here we use the Two Step Procedure of ExMerge to extract files from Exchange Server to PST. After launching the software, the steps are continuous and so there is no chance of error.
Launch ExMerge utility.
Select the option Extract or Import (Two Step Procedure)

Select the option Step 1: Extract data from an Exchange Server Mailbox
Enter the name of the source server.
Choose the destination mailbox from the list under Available Databases.
Select the source mailbox/es.
Select a directory for exporting the files, and wait for the wizard to complete exporting.
Now, stop the Exchange Server 2003 Information Store service.
Go to ExchSrvr\Mdbdata folder, and rename the Pub1.edb and Priv1.edb files
Delete all the files in the folder, except the renamed ones.
Run MS Outlook from a client system and send emails to all users in the global address book.
Now run ExMerge utility again, this time selecting the option Step 2: Import data into an Exchange Server Mailbox of the Two Step Procedure.
By the end of the process, the user mailboxes will be available on the new Exchange Server. NOTE : - Before starting, make sure that users are not using the email client program or accessing emails. Limitations of ExMerge Utility ExMerge is not a perfect data recovery utility. It has many limitations.
It moves user mailboxes only. It cannot move specific Exchange configuration properties (like connector settings, MS Outlook settings, and client-side rules).
It cannot move public folders, distribution lists and distribution list memberships. You can try to do it manually.
It cannot move OST (offline) emails. But you can move them after converting OST file to PST.
Microsoft Exchange Server Mailbox Merge Wizard (ExMerge) is a simple utility to deal the corruption of Exchange Information Store. It extracts data from an Exchange mailbox to PST files and then imports it to another Exchange mailbox. Get familiar with right option to recover a failed Exchange 2013 Server

However, talking about exchange server failure, you could easily overcome the situation by using the Setup /m:RecoverServer switch which rebuilds the Exchange server with the same name by making the full utilization of object information from Active directory. However, it is very important for you to initially cross examine the installation path of Exchange Server. In case you have installed it on different location then you got to make use of Targetdir switch to specify the location.
The steps that you got to follow are:
Open the ADSIT EDIT tool
Navigate to the following location: CN=ExServerName,CN=Servers,CN=First Administrative Group,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=ExOrg Name,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=DomainName,CN=Com
Right-click the Exchange server object, and then click Properties.
Locate the msExchInstallPath attribute. This attribute stores the current installation path.
In our scenario, let us consider that the default location is

C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15
Now, here is the following task you got to conduct for recovery of failed exchange 2013 server.
Initially, it is important for you to reset the computer account from AD
Install the proper operating system and name the new server with the same name as the lost server.
Allocate the very same IP address
Make sure you join the server to the same domain as the lost server
Assign same drive letters on the server
Install the essential prerequisites and operating system components.
Navigate to the Exchange 2013 installation files, and finally run the following command.

Setup /m:RecoverServer /I Accept Exchange Server License Terms
Finally, once the Setup gets completed, reconfigure the custom settings that were formerly present on the server, and then restart the server, and finally put the recovered server into production.
Nevertheless, while thinking of a complete Recovery plan for Exchange Server, it is ideally recommended to make the proper use of exchange server recovery software like Kernel for Exchange Server Recovery that could easily work around the issues without any complexity. While using such exchange server recovery tool, one do not require to make use of cmdlet commands to extract mailboxes from offline edb files. The key aspect of the software is that it allows administrators to successfully extract data from offline edb files and export it into multiple file formats such as, .pst, .eml, .msg etc. as a user, if you feel like using the disk space then with this tool it is very much possible. You can easily make use of disk space while scanning and recovering EDB items. Along with that, it has got an advance filters that in-turn help in exporting specific items.
Consequently, the next time if you ever face a failed exchange server and don’t know how to resolve a failed exchange 2013 server, just take help of exchange recovery tool. Visit here : http://www.edbtopstconverter.softwaredatarecovery.net/

How to Manually Import/Export PST File in MS Outlook 2013

In general, MS Outlook automatically stores messages, appointments, contacts, journal entries, tasks, and notes in one of the following two locations:
In a personal storage folder, which is primarily known as .pst file.
Now, when used without Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Outlook 2013 stores the data that simultaneously includes all default and custom folders in a personal folder file. Another important point that you also need to note is that when MS Outlook 2013 is used with Exchange, your mailbox, data resides on the server rather than on your computer. The moment you open MS Outlook, the program contacts the server and within a matter of a few minutes display your data.
Unless your only email account is on an Exchange Server, Outlook 2013 creates a local data file for you when you set up your profile. Depending upon the requirement, it is very much possible to create a new PST file and then add or remove folders to it. When Exchange Server is the only account, Outlook stores all items in your Exchange Server mailbox.
However, it is important that you clean up all old tasks or messages that get pile up. Outlook 2013 provides an AutoArchive feature that enables you to specify how often Outlook should clean out old items, which items to move, and so on. If you choose to archive items rather than delete them, Outlook places them in a PST file of your choosing. Nevertheless, it is very much possible to restore them back. Manually, you got to open that set of folders and successfully copy the items back to your regular folders. In fact, the more relevant option you can opt is the usage of the import feature in Outlook to import from the archive file.
If you had to remove your account profile and no longer have access to previously archived folders, you will need to import the file back into Outlook to gain access to the files again.
Click the File drop-down menu. Navigate to the Open & Export sub-menu, and then click Import/Export.
By default Import from another program or file, get selected. If it doesn’t get selected then click Next.
Select Outlook Data File (.pst), and then click Next.
Click Browse, and then choose the PST file you want to import.
Click Open and then click Next. If a password was assigned to the Outlook Data File (.pst), you are prompted to enter the password, and then click OK.
Set the options for importing items. The default settings usually don’t need to be changed.
The top folder — usually Personal Folders, Outlook Data File, or your email address — is selected automatically.
Include sub folders is selected by default. All folders under the folder selected will be imported.
The default selection of Import items into the same folder in matches the folders from the imported file to the folders in Outlook. If a folder doesn’t exist in Outlook, it will be created.
Select the Folder you want to import and Click Finish. You’re done!
Although you might be doing much of your work in Outlook 2013, but rarely there are occasions when you want to move data into Outlook from other programs or might even require exporting data from Outlook to another program. Just by following the steps mentioned above you could easily import and export item.
Nevertheless, if you want to opt for other option then you can opt third party application like Kernel for exchange server recovery. In fact, by using this tool you could easily recover the Mailbox Databases and Public Folders and finally save mailboxes of .EDB in .PST file which can be imported in MS Outlook. http://www.softwaredatarecovery.net/blog/ost-to-pst-export

How to migrate the DBX file into NSF format manually?

What-so-ever may be the reason, the main question here arises is how can the migration be done without the expense of efforts, resources and funds? This process of migrating DBX files to NSF file can be performed manually with the help of the Numgrade.exe upgrade wizard which has been introduced by IBM. The entire process can be completed in a few simple steps which hardly consumes much time. Here goes the steps which needs to be followed for swiftly migrating the DBX files into NSF:
Step 1: Click on Start -> Run and then type cmd.exe and Click ‘OK’
Step 2: Now, enter the Notes Client program Directory and open upgrade wizard
Step 3: Click ‘Next’ and follow the consequent instructions until you reach ‘Finish’ button
Step 4: Now, in the Notes ID file provide the password
Step 5: Create Notes mail account in Outlook Express and provide the details such as the account name, user name and IMAP server
Step 6: Close the application
After the successful creation of Notes account in the Outlook express, select it and then click the ‘IMAP Folder’ button which appears in the right pane. Thereafter, a dialog box appears which displays the folders which already exist in the NSF database. In order to make the folders of your choice visible to everyone, you need to select them and then click ‘Show’ button.

Now, to perform migration from Outlook Express to Lotus Notes, simply drag the emails or data items from the Outlook Express folder to that folder which is recently added from NSF database. To quickly and easily carrying out the process, you can make selection of multiple data items in a single go. This process enables to perform precise conversion with ease and accuracy.

Although, this process of migration is efficient and effective but when the migration of multiple mailboxes needs to be performed, such as in the cases where the mailboxes of the systems of entire organization have to be converted, then this method might turn out to be tedious and time-consuming. In such a condition, that methodology should be adapted which requires minimal manual efforts and can provide quick results.
The use of third party software is the optimum choice in such a scenario where bulk migration of DBX mailboxes into NSF mailboxes is involved. You can perform an online market survey before purchasing one for yourself. More Detail http://www.softwaredatarecovery.net/dbxtonsf.html

How to Repair Exchange databases with Eseutil/Isinteg tool?
Exchange administrators can take the help of Eseutil and Isinteg utilities to repair corrupt exchange databases. Both Eseutil.exe and Isinteg.exe utilities are inbuilt with MS Exchange Server and facilitate soft and hard database recovery from the corrupt Exchange Server. By default, these tools are stored in the following drive location:
C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin

However, before, you make use of Eseutil and Isinteg tools, do the following actions:
Log in as Exchange administrator
Copy running or inaccessible EDB database in a backup folder
Dismount the EDB database from the Exchange server
Free the disk space by moving unnecessary files and folders into portable media
Check the hard disk for bad sectors using CHKDSK utility
Do the following steps to run Eseutil.exe from command prompt:
Click on Start>Run
In the run box, type “cmd” and press “ok”
Go to C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin directory
Type Eseutil.exe in command line
Esutil.exe has two repair switches “/r” and “p”.
Eseutil /r command is soft database recovery mode of the Exchange Server.

If EDB files are severely damaged, then you should use Eseutil/p command. The command line to repair severely damaged private or public EDB file is:
Eseutil /p C:\Program files\Exchsvr\mdbdata\ primary name.EDB

After you have successfully repaired the EDB database with Eseutil /P command, run Eseutil /d command to defragment the repaired EDB file.
Run Isinteg.exe for integrity check of repaired EDB databases. The command line will appear like this:
Isinteg –s {Exchange Server name}-fix-test all tests

Select the repaired Exchange database file from the default Exchange server directory
Run the Isinteg command line till no errors are reported on the Server
Run the Eseutil \G command to check the integrity of the repaired EDB database

Remount the repaired EDB database using Administrative tools of the Exchange Server
If all users on the Exchange Server use MS Outlook or Outlook Express client, then there is little chance that the Exchange Information Store will contain Streaming media or STM file along with EDB and Transaction Log files. However, if POP3 client such as Windows Live email is configured on the Exchange Server, then Exchange Information Store will also consists of STM file and you need to repair both EDB and STM files in a pair.
Third party Software
Facing EDB corruption issues due to JET engine failure or software malfunctioning cannot be fixed with Eseutil and Isinteg command tools. Therefore, you must choose a third party Exchange Database repair utility. A proficient Exchange database repair utility can easily fix major corruption issues of the Exchange Server and repair EDB databases in a batch. The Exchange database repair tool usually convert EDB file into Outlook PST format. It recovers entire data of the Exchange mailbox from the inaccessible Exchange Information Store and saves in PST file format. Moreover, a professional Exchange database repair utility also allow network administrator to mount the recovered Exchange mailbox on the Server. How to migrate EDB to PST with the help of ExMerge Utility

Microsoft has offered ExMerge utility in order to handle problems that occur in the database of Exchange server. ExMerge utility has been designed to extract emails from a corrupted Exchange server, save it in .PST file and place it at desired storage location. Outlook PST (Personal Storage Table) is a file format that contains copies of windows messaging, calendar entries, e-mails and other items supported by Microsoft Exchange. ExMerge is useful to avoid virus attacks as it has the capability to find and extract a specific e-mail message from infected EDB.

ExMerge utility can be applied for a single mailbox, chosen mailboxes or all mailboxes in an Exchange server store. Including this, it can also process a batch of .PST files, matching them up correctly with Exchange mailboxes while importing data from .PST files to an Exchange server. ExMerge is advanced about duplicating messages as it prevents you from exporting the same contents of a mailbox twice to the same .PST file. Another advantage of this outstanding duplicate detection is that you can use ExMerge as a "brick level backup" solution which is backup of a single mailbox instead of an entire database.

For installing ExMerge utility, you must have Exchange server 2003 (along with admin tools of Exchange 2003). The supported versions of Exchange server are 2003, 200 and 5.5 & supported operating systems include Windows 200 SP3, Windows server 2003 and Windows XP. However, MS Exchange server 2007 doesn’t permit ExMerge utility to be run directly on the Exchange server machine which is possible with the earlier Exchange versions. On the other hand, this utility takes many steps & more time to run. Usually, it consumes 45 minutes as the average time the initial step takes around 45 minutes for a single GB of EDB data.
Furthermore, ExMerge can take one to two hours for the execution of the second step of the process. So, you should plan carefully before you actually apply this utility on corrupt Exchange database. In case, you do not get satisfactory result from ExMerge utility, you are recommended to look for a third party tool like Kernel for Exchange server recovery. It is a trustworthy & proficient EDB recovery tool and it easily resolves all issues of Exchange server and finally converts inaccessible EDB files into Outlook PST format. Solve Exchange Server Error 1053
Microsoft Exchange Information store maintains Exchange databases and manages transactions in order to provide other services and messaging clients with access to mailboxes and public folders. The MS Exchange Information store also takes care of space management and buffer management.
The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service uses a database engine called Extensible Storage Engine (ESE), which is a transaction-based database technologyservice to access all its data. In order to start this services, user types ‘services.msc’ in the Run command prompt and then select ‘Microsoft Exchange Information Store’ service. Following these steps, the service usually starts, but in some situations the service fails to start in case information store gets corrupted or damaged due to certain reasons such as unexpected system shutdown, damaged headers, antivirus scan, log file corruption, virus attacks, etc.
A user may encounter an error message in Microsoft Exchange Server while trying to start Microsoft Exchange Information Store service manually, which is as follows:
“Could not start the Microsoft Exchange Information Store Service on local computer, Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.”
On occurrence of such an error message, data saved in information store becomes inaccessible. To resolve such an error message and to access the records saved in Information store, perform the following guidelines:
Repair the corrupted EDB file using Eseutil/p inbuilt repair command.
In case the Eseutil/p command fails to repair, then restore the EDB file using an updated backup.
In case backup file is unavailable or get corrupted, then use a third-party Exchange Server recovery software to repair the corrupt EDB file.

Solving Jet Error - "JET_errRecordNotFound, the key was not found", “Jet_errRecordDeleted”
Other reasons for corruption of MS Exchange Server EDB files or generation of error messages includes deleted mailboxes, unable to initialize the MS Exchange Information Store service, duplicate keys (Identifiers), etc.
The minorly corrupted Exchange Server EDB files can be resolved using Eseutil.exe utility. In case EDB files are severely corrupted, it may generate an error message:
"JET_errRecordNotFound, the key was not found", “Jet_errRecordDeleted”
On generation of such an error message, the inbuilt utility Eseutil.exe fails to recover email data that further makes database inaccessible and data loss. The cause of generation of such an error message may be difference in structures of EDB and STM files or severely corrupted Exchange database file structure.
Some other JET Engine Exchange Dirty Shutdown errors are:
