Post-Aizen’s defeat, along with the technique that Rudbornn developed to enhance his  Resurrección‘s production of Calaveras and protect his branches from the effects of frost (which involves him sprouting countless new branch-like appendages from his roots deep underground), he also learned to channel his Hierro into his branches/roots, giving him a few more offensive and defensive options with them.
By channeling his Hierro into his branches / roots, they naturally become more durable, and become strong enough to cause great injury to those they either pierce or coil around-- Rudbornn especially likes to engage the latter, catching opponents off guard by assailing them with his underground roots, trapping them in place while his Calaveras overwhelm them, or for weaker opponents, using his roots to simply crush their entangled limbs.
For opponents who manage to get passed Rudbornn’s Calaveras Wall and engage him in close combat while his Resurrección  is active, this channeling of his Hierro into his branches naturally extends to the ten branches sprouting from his back, which can then be used to strike at foes, or fend off attacks. This can put a great deal of pressure on opponents, who now have to contend with Rudbornn’s Zanpakuto and ten other razor sharp appendages.
This new usage of Rudbornn’s Hierro affords him great utility and even greater effectiveness during battle, but it’s not without its flaws.
Generally, the strength of an Arrancar’s Hierro is proportional to the potency of their Reiryoku, and while this translates out to Rudbornn having a decently strong Hierro, it’s far from being insurmountable. Opponents with great physical strength or immense amounts of Reiryoku will likely be able to adapt and cut through Rudbornn’s Hierro enhanced branches / roots, all but erasing the advantages afforded to him, and if he suspects an opponent is capable of this, he’ll avoid using his Hierro in this manner altogether-- his branches and roots are too important to risk in such a situation.

@serenesouled liked for a small starter! (for Autumn!)
"I am astounded by how many spiritually aware people dwell in this city, it is no wonder Lord Aizen sought to use it in his plans." mumbled Rudbornn to himself,  referring to, at least with the former part of his sentence, Autumn, who moments ago was almost the victim of a Hollow attack, and beyond that, who could also clearly see him right now.
Tumblr media
"There is no reason for you to shelter behind that tree any longer, miss, you may come out now-- the Hollow has been sent away, and I promise to do you no harm."

“I am terribly sorry you had to witness that, miss.” sighed Rudbornn, sheathing his Zanpakuto and looking on at the woman from behind his helmet, all while a puddle of blood and a corpse lay at his feet. “Had they left me any other choice, I would have spared you such a grisly sight. I hope you are not shaken up too badly.”

@behindthestrings liked for a small starter! (for Szayel!)
“Master Szayel, I once overheard you mention something of great interest to me,“ more like, Rudbornn had been eavesdropping on that aforementioned conversation, he had a bad habit of doing that around Las Noches, “that being, you have somehow cultivated a wide variety of plants here in Hueco Mundo.”  Rudbornn bows his head to Szayel respectfully,  “As someone who has taken an interest in doing the same, I must ask you to show me some of your specimens.”
Tumblr media
Rudbornn, upon rising back up, smirks beneath his helmet, and makes eye contact with Szayel, adding, “Specifically, those that are used in the creation of, let us say, toxic concoctions.”

@keikakudori liked for a small starter!
“Lord Aizen...” Rudbornn, kneeling before Aizen’s throne, falls silent for a few moments, before mustering up the will to speak. “... Preparations for your foray into Karakura Town are nearing completion, and the Shinigami appear to be acting just as you said they would, but I must ask,”  Rudbornn removes his helmet and looks up at Aizen, “what if things go wrong?”
Rudbornn quickly adds, “I am not expressing doubt in you or the Espada by any metric, but I worry nonetheless-- what if, by some inconceivably small chance, the Shinigami win?” Though he tries to hide it,  Rudbornn’s voice is tinged with fear, fear spurred by the thought of losing the person he held highest in regard, his lord, his savior, Aizen,

“What if... what if you do not return? What is everyone to do?”

Tumblr media
“Master Nnoitra, the reputation behind your Hierro is legendary, but is it true-- is your Hierro truly the strongest...?” Rudbornn posed his question out of pure curiosity, but it wasn’t an entirely innocent curiosity-- the way he asked practically begged for a demonstration, for proof, and indeed, it was proof that Rudbornn was hoping to see firsthand.

In the period following Harribel’s disappearance and before they and Nel came back into the spotlight, Rudbornn was one of the few Arrancar who tried to unify Hueco Mundo and restore order, and peace. Rudbornn had some success in his endeavor, successfully restoring and maintaining order over a portion of Hueco Mundo (in the area Las Noches was based in, which he was also in the process of restoring), but he didn’t get very far, and the main reason Rudbornn didn’t get very far in his unification was because he just didn’t believe in himself enough.
Rudbornn had ambition, he had a dream (to do good by Hueco Mundo and it’s denizens but also create a Hueco Mundo that Aizen would be proud of), he had motivation, he was a powerful figure in his own right (even if there were still other Arrancar hanging around who could give him trouble), he had support, and he was great at governance, but he just couldn’t get out of his own way enough to make any major progress. Rudbornn may have acted like he was high and mighty in front of his subordinates and challengers, but inside, he was constantly hanging on his insecurities, and no matter how strong or capable he may have actually been, he was constantly doubting himself-- he didn’t feel like he would ever be able to compare to the likes of the Espada, and he let that insecurity trip him up. If Rudbornn hadn’t dwelt so much on his own shortcomings he may have had the extra motivation and fervor to truly unite Hueco Mundo, for a time.
In the end, none of this would’ve mattered anyway once Harribel and Nel returned to the scene-- regardless of how much progress Rudbornn might have made, or how felt about himself, he would have still instantly yielded to those two out of respect and self preservation, but, it’s still noteworthy that he had the potential to unify Hueco Mundo. Maybe, one day, far, far in the future, after all the former Espada have either left Hueco Mundo, died, or disappeared for one reason or the other, Rudbornn can expand on that potential again, and maybe he’ll believe in himself enough by then to truly succeed. Maybe.
For now, however, Rudbornn is entirely content serving the former Espada (who he reverses deeply) in control of Hueco Mundo , and any ambitions he may have had in the past currently lay in a deep slumber.
