Problems:

1. I am worried that viewers will get lost in the maze, which will miss a lot art works. And affecting their mood, and lead to this is not a good viewing experience.

2. Two-way entrance, or one-way entrance. Because when people walk into the maze, they can't go all the way at once and find the exit.

3. The arrangement of the artist's work is not suitable. Because the video works have multiple sounds, the light blocking fabric can't stop the sound, and I am worried that it will affect each artist's work. The gallery will be very messy.

Exhibition Proposal #3 - Week 6

Bermeja#3

Theme : Performing character of contemporary art.

In a criticism on the artist Sturtevant, there is a interest statement: contemporary art is performing. Nowadays, many intentions of art works and various exhibitions have the character of performance. What are our normal definitions of performances? With the ups and downs of the plot, they are deductive in front of the audience, accompanied by physical movements or techniques. The definition of the word performance on the Wiki is "Show the details and skills and abilities of characteristics.” See, even for many kinds of contemporary art, it with drama, music performance has much in common.

For the “performance” as keyword there is a movie, the Truman show. Here performs that when a person's life is a TV show, but he does not know. This man's life is like a Russian toy, after the non-stop look, the smallest one inside. This extends to the next argument: the perspective of God, the manipulation behind it, the real world and the false world. Here is a new proposition for our world. Is our world real or creator-directed? Even when I wrote these words, I am not sure that this world is what we are seeing now.

Some of the artists and works selected below use the actors to interpret the plot, but the presentation of these works is also a performance in front of the society. Their art works both contain the essence of performance, as well as the reflection of the world on society, and questioning and criticism.

The title of exhibition

Bermeja is a famous ghost island in the history of the world. It comes from the lies of cartographers and navigators. The rich story makes people believe in its existence for a long time, and then people have not found it. Mapping to the real world, is our society, is our existence not a story weaving? The works of all the artists in this exhibition are like the lives of the various inhabitants of this ghost island.

Space of the exhibition

The different works will be arranged into a “Maze”, because there is only one exit in a maze, audiences need to move around and choose roads in many times. At the same time, the maze conforms to the theme. When people enter the maze, they are separated from the outside world. They are arranged by the path. Also, hidden cameras will be set inside and outside the space, and the world where audiences enter will be projected on screens in the outside of maze. This is performance acted by all audiences and all artists together.
