“We protect those who cannot protect themselves.”
Having invited his daughter over fora splendid dinner on his balcony, both of them were able to enjoy the cozy warmththe sun provided. Spring definitely hung in the air that early evening and Zeuswas sure Persephone loved it even more than he did. Smiling warmly over at her, gratitude washed over him for having her in his life to begin with. It hadn’tbeen that long ago since they finallyconnected and Zeus wished he could keep this connection until eternity.
“That’s pretty much our jobdescription, yes.” Zeus responded, wine glass in hand. His gaze travelling awayfrom her, a pensive frown appeared then. “Why do you bring it up dear daughterof mine?” It had been a while since he’d last seen her. It honestly hadn’t beenhis intention to wait this long with meeting up with her again, but alas, dueto certain circumstances he’d been unable to do so. He could only be glad that she didn’t seem to mind much.

Delicate
Continued from here with @mpchange
His suave smirk dimmed down in the silence that fell between them after his invitations. Taking it as a rejection, Zeus easily tucked away the flirtatious side that had come out tonight. Usually, when he was trying to pursue someone he wouldn’t give up so easily. But truth to be told, he wasn’t pursuing Chang’e. In fact his words were half meant as a joke. Of course the King held some interest for the goddess, otherwise he wouldn’t have flirted with her, but it was only on the surface.
So, when Chang’e closed the distance, took hold of his dress shirt and pulled him down into a heated kiss, Zeus had to admit he had not expected anything like this to happen. The moon goddess had come over as too reserved, too virtuous to ever agree with the suggestive questions he had posed. Plus, he had never thought she would have it in herself to be as passionate.
Although she did catch him by surprise, Zeus quickly responded to the kiss he received. Having no trouble mirroring her passion, he eagerly claimed her lips as his. Hands reaching out to roam over her delicate frame, exploring her, his fingers ended up tangled in her silky smooth hair. His mind still wrapping around the fact of how she had collided so abruptly and intensely with him as their kiss build itself up, the god naturally bowed his head as she gradually lowered herself back to the balls of her feet.
And as he began to lose himself into the heat of the moment, into her, he found he liked this hidden and highly unforeseen side of her. He liked the fire, the desire, she was able to put into a moment like this. He liked how he could feel that just like him, she too was able to surrender herself completely to her emotions. His heartbeat dancing to the rhythm of the passion that already played between them, right when he thought he would  lose himself and would want to take this terrific make-out session to another place, she ended it.
Taking in short and quick breaths through his lips, he watched how Chang’e took her distance from him. His eyes showing his confusion momentarily, a lightly amused but mostly satisfied smirk perked up the corners of his mouth at the perfect picture of serenity she was. Taking in how she looked as if she hadn’t just engaged in a mind-blowing make-out session, Zeus found he liked her even more. He always had loved people who were capable of blowing his mind. Who did the things he didn’t expect. And it was entirely wonderful when realized he had discovered someone who was able to pique his interest as easily. Someone who could challenge his mind.
His smirk only grew at her velvet words. Loving her answer, he gave her a lustful and intense stare. Exhaling a breath next, he relaxed the muscles in his face while his eyes kept drowing her appearances in the moonlight in. Committing it all to mind and savoring her beauty. Lifting up his thumb to gently trace over his lower lip, his gaze remained the same however as he listened to her. “In the right to ask me something in return?” He mused. Playful. Seductive. Dropping his hand back to his side, his stare lost some of its intensity as he spoke, “I guess you can ask.”

“The only one who’s shown any interest in me is a rabid coyote.”
Zeus was taken off guard by thegoddess’ sudden confession. Wondering how their surface conversation about theuniversity and her students had turned to this peculiar topic, he went alongwith it, however, and jumped right on specific detail. “A rabid coyote on top of that?” Grinning at Chang’e, to indicate hewas only joking around, he soon shed his amusement. “No Chang’e,” he spokeserious now while shaking his head lightly. “I honestly hope you don’t expectme to believe you’re serious?” Looking at the staircase so he would not miss astep, he soon added, “Someone like you should have suitors lined up at her door.”

Teen Wolf Sentence Meme
“All right, did you forget the part about the family-murdering axe-murderer?”
“Come on, no one died, alright? Look, there may have been some maiming, okay? A little mangling, but no death! That’s what I call an important distinction.”
“Come over to my place at nine. Plan on staying the night. I like to cuddle.”
“Do you have any idea how bad you look? You’re like one giant open wound.”
“Does anybody else want to rethink the plan where we just, uh, kill ‘em?”
“Everyone should have a dream! Even a pathetically unrealistic one.”
“I can’t believe I got my ass thrown in a vault for three months for you.”
“I don’t want to kill your optimism or anything, but both of us have been trying to do the same thing for hours.”
“I heard there was a party. Don’t worry, I invited myself.”
“I honestly thought I would never have to burden you like this, but you’re my only hope. I’m going to be taken. I need you to find me.”
“I just killed your family. Do you want to die like them? Begging for your life? Or, do you want to fight? I’ll give you some help. Wrap a towel around your fist. Smash the mirror. Use one of the shards to defend yourself. Go ahead, I’m waiting.”
“I love you. So, if you need to do that thing where we talk about me, and pretend like we’re not actually talking about you, it’s totally fine.”
“I was gonna wait for dramatic flare, but when you look this good, why wait?”
“I’m always terrified. I-I act like I know what I’m doing, but I don’t.”
“I’m not angry. You know I’m gonna have to find a way to punish you though.”
“I’m not asking you to save just my life. I’m asking you to save everyone they’ll ever hurt again.”
“I’m supposed to call you first when I find a dead body?”
“If you already have all the information, what do you want from me?”
“If you lied and it gets people hurt, I’ll be back to take away more than your pain.”
“In preparation of some big changes, I’ve decided to drop some of the dead weight in my life, and you’re just about the deadest.”
“It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s perfect. I’m in the arms of my first love. The first person I ever loved. The person I’ll always love. I love you.”
“My grandmother can move faster than that, and she’s dead. Do you think you can move faster than the lifeless corpse of my dead grandmother?”
“Oh no, I’m not doing that again. You find the dead body from now on.”
“The full moon is coming, and with the way things are going, I have a feeling it’s gonna be a rough one.”
“The only one who’s shown any interest in me is a rabid coyote.”
“The problem is the people I need to talk to right now don’t talk to people like you.”
“This new-found heroism is making me very attracted to you. You wanna just make out a little bit? Just to see how it feels?”
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
“Try putting the highlighter down between paragraphs. It’s chemistry, not a coloring book.”
“We don’t go out in the middle of the night murdering people, do we?”
“We protect those who cannot protect themselves.”
“We’re just a bunch of teenagers. We can’t handle this.”
“What am I supposed to do with the hordes gathering outside the door?”
“Why’s it starting to feel like you’re Batman and I’m Robin? I don’t wanna be Robin all the time!”
“Yeah, well, you being happy isn’t really a big priority of mine, since you stabbed me twenty times with knives.”
“You seriously need to find something better than a baseball bat.”
“You’re just a bunch of stupid teenagers running around, thinking you can stop people from getting killed. But, all you do is show up late.”

and chang’e, too, felt like that little girl again, filled with awe and admiration.
The flood continuing with washing away his sins a particular memory of not that long ago came back to mind. He had been standing in front of a mirror, looking at himself. The mirror was dirty, small and cracked in the right upper corner. The light bulb behind him had flickered, sometimes obscuring the view of his disheveled, delusional and wild self in the mirror. It was there, through the dark chaos of insanity, that the question if he was a man or a monster had returned, like the crack of light at dawn.
Zeus always had found it difficult to formulate an answer to it since it was hard to tell which side he was on. He found the lines between the two concepts were blurred because one day he was leaning more to this side or the other. He knew his hands both held the power to heal or to kill and what mattered was how he used that power. But at the end of the day, when he closed his eyes, one day he found there to be light while the other day he found darkness underneath.
It was no secret to him how afraid he was of what he might become when he found darkness greeting him. He was afraid he might become like his father. And as he looked at himself in the mirror that particular day, what he found looking straight back at him was exactly the monster he had feared to become. It was then that the tables turned and Zeus finally fought against the insanity he had lost himself to. The light, his light, gradually coming back the god kept reminding himself of how he wanted to survive. How he wanted to be more a man than a monster.
Thus the god had thought about his way of redemption. About his way of vindicating those he had blamed before. And after a long road he now finally had reached the end of it. Finally he found himself to be more a man than a monster, finally he was free.
‘Startled’ out of his memory, by Chang’e voice, the god inhaled sharply while he turned his head to the goddess and opened his eyes. Being disorientated he did need Chang’e to specify what she meant by ‘home’. But the moment the information came through, Zeus quickly responded, “Naturally.” The downpour finally and quickly fading to an halt, the sky cleared next, it allowing the moonlight to shine fully down on the earth and the both of them. “I did not wish to obscure you your view of your home. I had been carried away by the storm.” The light grey of his eyes fading to drak they turned back to brown then as Zeus let go of his powers. A friendly and warm smile appearing he lightly let his eyes wander over her. “Don’t catch a cold. They are difficult to get rid off.”

An envelope with a note inside, this time left in the letterbox like a normal person does: Yours is accepted as well. Please forgive your brother for what he has done on my behalf. He is a great friend to have, especially since he’s not even mine. I hope the two of you will find a way beyond what has happened.
Zeus didn’t expect to receive another note of the demigod. Especially not one holding this type of message. It proved how he had misjudged the demigod and for that sole fact did Zeus consider the boy’s request.
Forgive. There had been a time in which he wanted to prove gods were able to forgive. And for as far as he was concerned, he thought he had managed quite well. Still, his reputation was that of an unforgiving, merciless god. He wasn’t going to deny he could be exactly that. Not when the memories of what he had caused to the mortal world swarmed his mind.
Putting the note with the other a small sigh escaped him. He had let go of his past, the absence of the necklace around his neck was prove of that, not that long ago. But in doing so he also had forgiven everyone for their wrongdoings and actions, even let go completely of some. So honestly, Zeus didn’t have to forgive Hades anymore. He didn’t how things would continue on between the two of them from here on out, but well, he would figure it out as time continued to flow.

A note, put in an envelope and pushed underneath the door of the god’s apartment. No name, nothing other than the neatly written words: ‘For what I have done to gain your wrath, I apologise. For being allowed to keep my life, I am grateful.’
Only when he returned to his apartment at Mount Phoenix did Zeus read the note. Although it held no name, it was not hard to figure out who the note was coming from. There was only one demigod whose life he had spared.
Turning the small piece of paper around in between his fingers, to see if there was anything on the back of it, the god read the simple but genuine sentences a couple of times.  And he found he appreciated the small token of the demigod. He appreciated the apology he finally got and it made him wonder if he owed the young male an apology in return.
A lot of people would say that a King did not offer apologies, but nothing less was true. A true king should know when he’s in the wrong and be strong enough to admit to it. At least, that’s how Zeus thought about it. But well, many did think Zeus wasn’t a good King. To hell with them.
Walking further into his apartment, Zeus went to sit down at his desk so he could write a small note in return to the demigod.

All that remains now is Hades, brother of Zeus, friend of Jinah, loyal to those he cares for. And that person stands with slumped shoulders and regret etched into his very soul. “This is not what I want, brother,” he replies to the question that hangs in the air between them, voice soft, void now of the anger that had been there just moments before and instead filled with his own sadness. “I do not want to fight you, but I cannot let you harm this boy either.” A partway glance back at where Sehun lies before Hades looks back at his brother. “Jinah loves him. He is important to her. No matter what the boy has done to offend and enrage you, I cannot let you take that from her, or damage it further than it already has been damaged.”
There is a momentary fear that the demigod might decide to leave the island because of Zeus’ attack. Or that he might consider getting revenge in some way, shape or form. Hades knows there is nothing he can do about the decisions Sehun makes, but at least this one time he can try and protect the boy’s life. He owes Jinah at least this one time of going against his brother no matter what to save her love. But his loyalty to his friend battles heavily with his loyalty to his brother, and Hades finds himself hoping above all that he will not have to choose between the both of them today.
His feelings shifted like the tide after those words. His pain, unable to put the raging fire of insanity out, got drowned away. Eyes clouding over, they travelled away from Hades’ face to stare at a spot in the distance, unseeing. Entirely focused on the chaos that ruled over his mind, his body and soul the god felt how he had to unleash it. How he deserved to unleash all the bottled up feelings from the past and present. So the moment Hades retreated Zeus claimed the field and surrendered to his insanity.
The shift in the atmosphere was instant. It was ominous, wild, uncontrollable, suppressing and vibrant. Lightning coursing through his veins, it sparked from his fingertips and made his eyes ablaze with the fire, the insanity he held, inside. And as Hades began to speak, Zeus turned his gaze to his brother. Eyeing him, without truly looking at him, the air continued to pulsate, to build up and become thicker because of the power he fed it.
Although Zeus’ mind was entirely gone, Hades words still managed to reach him somehow. They somehow filtered through the hurricane that was his mind, through the lightning that began to spark from his entire body, through the thunder that rumbled above their heads. And somehow Zeus understood the words spoken to him. It probably was all due to the last sliver of sanity he still had left combined to the sole fact that they were brothers at heart.
The air tracing over the hellhound who guarded the boy he wished to kill, some bolts of lightning shot up into the sky. His insanity flaring up by the knowledge of how his brother decided to put the fate of this mortal above his, he glared at Hades. His eyes spitting fire, “Then protect your loved ones and don’t betray them.” His voice carried by the thunder, the atmosphere was trembling, shaking from the power he emmitted. “I once called you brother, loved and respected you, so I will allow this mortal to remain alive. If only because I know what love is.” And he knew it. He truly did. All his life he had felt nothing else but love for others. And his love -like it had done to his wife- had in the end driven him mad.
And then, before Hades could say or do anything, a flash of lighting blinded everyone and everything. A deafening thunder soon roared/crashed, forcing any mortal -and weaker or unprepared gods- standing to their knees. The next moment, when eyes were able to see again, they could see how the sky was clear once more, the atmosphere free of that suppressing power and that the god of lightning had disappeared.

“i do not believe madness has anything to do with it, dear zeus. it’s a simple matter of trust.” her smile softened even more if that was even remotely possible, her expression growing even warmer as she temporarily let her gaze rest upon his face. “and i do not believe you would let harm befall me.”
then her eyes slid away from his features again, to gaze out at the sea, then up at the sky. “unless, of course, asking me about madness was just your way of telling me that you would much rather i left you alone again…” she added then, a little hint of amusement creeping into her voice, but she still looked back at him for confirmation on whether or not those words were the truth. she didn’t think they were, but she could still be mistaken.
Zeus solely lifted up his eyebrows at her question, as if to say ‘you tell me’. Although he still looked rather joyful and carefree out there at the beach in the pouring rain, it didn’t went passed him how Chang’e had managed to compliment both him and the storm in one sentence. And he would lie if he’d say he wasn’t flattered by her words.
Her flattery didn’t stop there but even went a step further, since she so easily declared how she trusted him. “I’m honored to know you trust me, milady.”  And his words were genuine. It honestly felt great to know someone trusted him. He had been distrusted by the ones close to him for so many times and so long that it almost felt surreal to hear someone say to him that they trusted him.
His gaze remaining on her as she looked at the sea and then the sky, Zeus found she looked very beautiful yet delicate at the same time in the raging storm. Drinking in the tranquility she emitted the god resembled the soft light she emitted to that of a light house. Anyone instantly felt more safe when they spotted such a light, a haven of peace and safety, in the midst of a downpour like this one and he always had appreciated that sort of attribute in others.
Her next words elicited a chuckle from his lips. “No. They certainly weren’t meant like that.” Smiling warmly back at her he added, “Don’t read too much into my words.” Zeus never had liked it when people were picking his words and sentences apart, looking for hidden meanings inside of them, as if he was one who had to hide what he really wanted to say. “My words make it pretty clear what I mean.” Offering her a polite smile the god then turned his head back to the sky. Closing his eyes once more he allowed himself to focus entirely on the soothing touch of the cold pouring rain again.

Rather than voice his own threats, it’s the Hellhounds that start forming half a circle facing Zeus, growling loudly and closing in slowly, as if starting to herd the god of the Sky away from the demigod by now close to unconscious on the street behind them.
The moment Hades clutched his arm and threw him backwards Zeus knew his brother was using all his strength to do so. He recognized it. He had felt Hades’ wrath and power more than often enough. Completely unprepared for this level of force Zeus landed a couple of meters away from where he just stood, with his back first, on the asphalt. The bolt dissolving during his ‘flight’ in the air the first thing he saw was the dark clouds in the sky above them. Puzzled by the violent confrontation, the god needed a long moment to gather his wits while Hades’ poisonous words reached his ears.
If someone were to ask Zeus if there was someone in Mount Phoenix who he’d never fight with, he’d look over at his older brother. It was no secret they had their fair amount of differences in the past and waged war because of those, but in the end they were still brothers at heart. After eons of enduring Hades loathing him and engaging in the meaningless war the god of the Underworld wanted to wage -in hopes of killing the very one he called brother, if he may add- they eventually had found their way back to each other. They settled their disputes, had forgiven each other and continued on as brothers.
Zeus had been over the moon when they finally were able to meet each other unarmed on the battlefield. The god thought, no, believed, they both had learned from their past mistakes and delusions. He had cherished the hope and belief that they had become better in overcoming those hateful and harmful thoughts and feelings. Yet, apparently, his brother held on to another idea. At least that much became clear when Hades went all out. His strong actions of betrayal calling for war.
That was what his fragile mind told him to make of Hades’ actions and words while he was laying in the indentation his body had made into the street. It was obvious how Zeus had been balancing on the tightrope between sanity and insanity for a couple of months now. He desperately had tried to cling on to the sane, logical, side, but Hades’ pushed him right over the edge. And as he made his long spiral downward into the chaotic but colorful depths of insanity, its claws welcoming him warmly, he thought that as far as he was concerned war always had reeked of family.
And where the air became thicker, it swirling with Hades’ powers of destruction and death, the symphony his words created was only complete when the low and threating growls of his loyal guard dogs chimed in. It making it pretty clear how furious Hades was. Zeus didn’t even have to look at the god’s face to know exactly which kind of emotion lay in his eyes. He had seen it too often before. He remembered it all too well. He never could have guessed Hades was that proud and stubborn to ever commit this kind of treason over such a meaningless mortal. Zeus didn’t understand. He honestly didn’t. He hadn’t went all out on Hades when he had been close to killing a demigod, had he? He had not approached his brother with such hate and judgement. So how come he had deserved this? This situation arose the question of who was the better man of the two, didn’t it?
Hearing, feeling, how the hounds closed in on him, Hades’ power pushing, forcing, him to stand and remain down Zeus refused. He was not going to surrender. He was not going to swallow his pride, raise the white flag and let his hands be tied by the one who he called brother. He wasn’t going to be the one who was going to be strong for both of them, he had done enough of that in the past. He was not going to forgive and forget. Not this time.
Lightning firing up his heart, thunder shaking his bones, the storm of chaos clouded his mind. And slowly the god gathered himself up from the ground, in such a majestic way only a few others were able to pull off. Straightening his back and squaring his shoulders Zeus still allowed Hades to claim the atmosphere. Finding it rather pathetic, really, that his older brother felt so threatened by him that he had to display this show of force the god met his brother’s strong and hateful gaze, ignoring his hounds fully.
But as he met his brother’s eyes, his resolve to wage war on his brother faltered. “You who I call brother, why must you call down another blow?” A sliver of the pain, the love for his brother, broke through the chaos in his mind. It making him speak from the heart, his confusion and hurt visible in his eyes. “How could you have come to hate me so?” He paused, drinking in the malicious atmosphere, he was sure he could feel his heart bleeding. “Is this what you wanted?” His gaze going down to the army of hellhounds in between them -and not to forget the mortal he was defending as if his own life was depending on it- he exhaled, “Once I thought the chance to make you laugh was all I ever wanted.”

Mia found herself relaxing more and more. The mix of the wine, the music, and the comfortable seat all served to calm her down and make her feel significantly less anxious than she had when Zeus showed up at her door. “Not yet, no, but I haven’t been here that long yet.” She gave him a lopsided grin. “And honestly… dealing with the fact that I now have a father-type-person is already overwhelming enough. But, you know. I’m glad I came here and shit.”
Zeus breathed out a thunderous laughter when his daughter admitted to almost having thrown lighting into his brother’s face. “I’m sure he deserved it,” he grinned, clearly comfortable and amused. “I would have loved to see his reaction when someone else throws lightning at him for a change.” A chuckle leaving him he imagined Hades’ shocked and alarmed expression as he tried to dart out of the way of the lightning bolt. It was a wonderous image in his head for sure.
Humming next, his interest being piqued, he asked, “A dog person too?” There were a lot of people who thought Cerberus was ‘rad’ -as she so beautifully described it- so it certainly didn’t surprise Zeus Mia found so too. What he was interested in however, was in getting to know his daughter better. In learning about her interests and dreams in life and that was why he asked her that particular question.
Breathing out a soft huff at her last words he shrugged, mimicking her way of talking, “I’m glad you came here and shit too.” Meaning no harm with it, since he actually found her way of talking humorous, he soon began to smile to show her he meant no harm. “I’m pleased to have a daughter like you around.” No trace of amusement detectable in his expression nor voice he looked at his daughter for a moment longer so she would get that he had been genuine about his words.
Turning his gaze away then he looked outside the window, seeing that they had almost arrived at their destination he sighed. “Besides you’ll see most of the Greek gods tonight anyway. You honestly can’t miss the rowdy but stuck-up looking bunch that they are.”

She took a few moments to think about an answer to her question, though she immediately shook her head. “Not a curse,” she said decisively. “It’s not like it’s my powers that made life shit for my mom. It was that bastard. The powers just gave him an excuse to be openly shitty, but I think… I think it would’ve happened either way. The divorce and all that crap.” Mia gave the god a small smile. It was still a bit overwhelming to be sitting here with him, but now that she had the feeling she got him a bit better it was at least a little more comfortable.
“And, you know, I do enjoy having the ability to throw lightning at assholes. It looks cool as fuck.” Her small smile turned into a grin. “And the whole being able to tell when people are lying and being good at lying thing has worked in my favor too, so… thanks, I guess?”
Mia reached down to pick up the tissue. “Sorry for being such a mess, I was up all night working on this dress and ugh.” She stood up. “I’ll go find a band-aid… and I gotta clean up. Did you want something to eat or drink?”
Zeus was satisfied to know his daughter seemed to have a proper and working set of brains in her head. He had heard enough demigod kids of his who put the blame of their ‘shitty’ existence solely on their powers. But luckily Mia was capable to make such important nuances and to see her ability as a gift rather than a curse and nuisance. Giving her a nod, both in understanding and approval, it was the first father-like gesture he made toward the demigoddess. “You’re very right about that. He would have found another reason.”
A smile lifting up the corners of his mouth at her statement, when it turned into a grin it became the second father-like gesture he made. “You’re welcome. I’m glad to know you appreciate it.” And he was, he truly was. It was great to meet another child of his who embraced the lightning inside of its veins and the ability to pick up on manipulation. He wasn’t going to say that they should manipulate anyone and everyone  they met all the time, but it was affinity which would come in handy for multiple occasions.
Following her with his gaze as she stood up, the god lifted up his head from his hand and dropped his arm so it was stretched. His fatherly feelings fully and wholly being awoken now by the way she had spoken before and now clearly was in need of some guidance, Zeus easily took this new mortal under his wing and put the door to his heart ajar. “You do not need to bring me anything to drink or eat.” Gesturing over to the seat she had occupied before he continued, “You should get that band-aid. Afterwards you should come and sit down with me, rest and entertain me, your client, with your company until Eris arrives.”

And in that long, acutely clear moment, he realises that he is going to die.
There is no way he can win this battle, after all, no way he can win over the god standing a few feet away, intent on tearing him apart piece by piece if the expression on the man’s face is any indication. He’s going to die and for the very first time in his life the thought doesn’t make him angry, it makes him sad. Because he’s not willing to die. Not now. Not when there is something going on between Jinah and him. Something he’s not quite sure yet what it is, but something he definitely wants to explore further.
In the next moment he’s trying to think of ways to get out of this situation, but can see none. For the intense desire to hurt and kill is too clear in the way the god had been looking at him, and he does not need to be extremely attentive to have heard the rage in the god’s voice, either.
And to think that all he’d done to garner this response, was attempt to smile.
Trigger Warning: Torture by lightning
Striding the few paces it took to reach the fallen demigod, Zeus ran a hand through his hair to smooth it out. He hated it whenever his appearances where disheveled. For him it spoke of chaos and chaos, although sometimes good to create new things, needed order.
His foot halting right in front of the demigod’s eyes the god turned slowly while his gaze never left the male’s back, like an eagle or hawk who was eyeing its prey. Taking his time to straighten his suit Zeus softly cleared his throat to indicate he was ready. Ready to bring the worst of fate to the demigod laying at his feet.
Summoning another lightning bolt into his hand Zeus didn’t care that he was out and about on the streets of Mount Phoenix where anyone and everyone could see what he was doing. This guy needed punishment and he was finally going to give him the justice he deserved. There was no hair on his head that thought about carrying this pour excuse of a mortal to someplace else. In the past he had minions for it, but now, sadly enough, Zeus wasn’t capable of summoning them to carry away this bastard. So he just had to torture him out on the streets.
“Such a shame you can’t tell me what you prefer.” The bolt crackling in his hand he clacked his tongue in ‘regret’ twice. “I was thinking of you fighting your way out of some dungeon. Right before you get to the exit you get beaten, of course, so you’ll need to start all over if you wish to escape. To make it even worse the one that will beat you will either be the one you hate or love the most.” A cold chuckle escaping him Zeus lowered the bolt so the tip of it was touching the guy’s neck. It sending waves of electricity through his body. “I quite like the sound of my idea already. But don’t worry. I’ll create a masterplan before I actually will execute it.” Lifting his bolt up again, to allow the male some relief since he didn’t want him to die yet, he tightened his hold on it. “Meanwhile you’re finally going to understand the meaning of physical pain.”

“i hope i do not impose on your downpour.” a voice, not raised but still audible despite the white noise of the falling raindrops all around them. soft and gentle, like the caress of a loving mother, or the breeze of a sweltering night. her eyes alight with kindness, with empathy, with the recognition of a kindred soul. there was a certain respect in the way she kept her distance as well, but not for his name or title, simply for the person himself. the man with a story, with emotions and needs and a possible wish for personal space.“it seemed you might be able to use some company.” her voice was still soft, her eyes remaining on his face with no desire to wander, nor any inquiry in her expression. she wasn’t asking for an explanation or a reason, just offering her presence. “i apologise if i presumed wrongly.”
Water. It always had this cleansing effect on anyone or anything it touched. Tonight, to Zeus, as the unforgiving rain he summoned poured down from the sky, drenching his hair, clothes and soaking into his very skin, where it could reach his immortal soul, it felt purifying. Lifting up his head to the darkened sky, the god surrendered to the cold and hard touch of it. Yearning for it Zeus leaned into its cold embrace, his soul soaring in delight -in liberation- until a few moments later everything turned perfectly tranquil. And as he stood there with his palms slightly turned upwards, his muscles void of any form of tension or stress he was the storm and the storm was he.
Soon the rain, the flood, washed away any trace of them, of her. It sweeping away each and every single one of his sorrows, his anguish, his doubts, his struggle. It paving the way for new and other beginnings. And as the howling wind chilled the Greek god to the bone, he reached inside to re-discover a warmth, a fire, into the beating of heart. It was a flame as clear and vibrant as the lightning in the sky and as strong as the thunder. It was a flame filled with desire and dreams, with purpose. And now that he finally felt it again Zeus wondered how on earth he could have forgotten about its existence.
But there was something else the rain brought. A voice, clear and soft, despite of the white noise around him. The tenderness and level of soothing it possessed was beautiful and it caught him off guard a little bit in this raging, cleansing, downpour he had created. His interest piqued, since it was not every day he came across someone who was capable of speaking so tenderly in the midst of a storm nor voluntarily found themselves to be in it, Zeus opened his eyes.
Turning his glowing light grey eyes to her, his piercing gaze instantly recognized the Chinese goddess. He had met her quite some time ago actually at the university, he remembered her to be one of the teachers there. They occasionally had held conversations about educational topics and engage in some surface chatter, but that was the extent of how much they knew each other. In fact he didn’t know this particular goddess who stood out in the storm with such grace as if she was enjoying a lovely night out on the beach at all. But the simple fact that she was standing here in that gorgeous way she did, made him want to get to know her.
His eyes travelling over her features quickly, he did take a moment to appreciate the ethereal and soft glow she emitted amongst the dark the clouds had created. The thought that she was the goddess of the moon coming back to mind then he found her words to be rather humorous. “Company?” he spoke, his voice as strong and low like the thunder itself, it was the complete opposite of her softness. “You must be mad, Chang’e,” Her name rolling off his tongue as easy as his own did the god, the King, gave her a jovial smile. “Offering me company in this downpour? Especially when you’re not a water or weather god? What has gotten into you?” His smile widening his stance and expression, although still strong and royal like was also carefree. As if he finally wasn’t carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders anymore.

She watched Zeus open the wine bottle, then raised an eyebrow and looked at the button. “Holy shit,” she murmured under her breath. After a moment’s thought, she pressed it. Though she had no idea how to address the driver, her voice was significantly stronger and more confident than when she’d talked about her past. “Can you put on IU’s Palette album? Thanks.” Then Mia turned back to Zeus and grinned.
“Family troubles?” she echoed, but didn’t pry any further. With how sensitive of a topic it was for her, she knew better than that. “You don’t have to introduce me to those you don’t want to, I’ll meet them sooner or later.“ She took the glass of wine and thanked him. “Honestly? Up until a few weeks ago I wasn’t sure if it would be a good idea to move here and meet you. But I don’t regret it, so… I don’t think they’ll disappoint me.” After taking a sip of wine, Mia remembered something. “I don’t know if he’s one of the ones you have a good relationship with, but I ran into Hades the other day. He was… weird. Pretended to be some kind of creep trying to lure me into a dark alley or something. Is that how jokes work in the underworld?“
“You should tell me,” Zeus instantly replied to her words, tone and expression serious. “It makes it easier for me.” Ever since he knew how all of the money he had left for Mia had been stolen by her step-father the god had planned on paying the bastard a visit. No one stole from a god, especially not from the King of the gods. Zeus had left the money for Mia and Mia alone. But thanks to that horrible mortal his daughter didn’t receive the luxury she needed to have to live a comfortable life. So one of these days Zeus would set out and destroy that son of a bitch to reclaim the money he had stolen.
“I simply won’t.” Confirming how he wasn’t going to introduce her to people he didn’t like, although he found it rather obvious how he wasn’t going to do that since it didn’t make sense, he began to grin when she mentioned Hades. “That’s just how he rolls.” A genuine warmth for his brother appearing in his features he smiled at Mia, “It takes time to get used to his weird and sort of misplaced sense of humor.” He remembered clearly how Hades used to be a god people hated and avoided. Yet here in Mount Phoenix he finally managed to have actual conversations with mortals and to make friends. Things the god of the dead hadn’t been capable of doing before. “But I have a very good understanding with my older brother. I hope you’ll come to like him and his own strange way of being himself.” Briefly grinning at her a frown appeared next. “Did you meet any other Greek god? Beside Eris and Hades?”

“Okay. Okay, that’s good.“ Because if he’d watched her, it would also mean that he’d seen how her mother’s ex took everything from them and done nothing to help them. It was good to know that wasn’t the case, but it also made Mia feel kind of shitty for all the years she’d spent being mad at him.
“She gave me the letter, yeah.” A few moments passed, then Mia figured she should maybe tell her birth father something about herself. “She gave it to me when I was thirteen, after my powers… showed themselves. And with showed themselves I mean I got into a fight with my little brother and accidentally burned down our room with lightning.“ She gave Zeus a small smile. “Not to get into the details because it’s really not fun, but my brother’s dad a.k.a my mom’s husband at the time was really pissed. And then they got a divorce. And then things were really shitty for a while until we moved to Seoul to sort of… start over again. And when I graduated college and shit I decided to get a job here.“
Mia thought about her next words for a bit before speaking, her gaze resting on Zeus’ face though she didn’t quite make eye contact. “I’m gonna assume you’ve had this conversation about a thousand times before, so I’m not gonna bore you or anything.” The tissue fell to the ground. “Ah, fuck.”
Although it would be quite the improper response to smile when Mia confessed to burning her room down, Zeus did exactly that. In fact the comment elicited an exhaled chuckle from the god. He was sure the demigoddess would find it very impolite, since she continued saying she would not get into the probably ugly and sad details, but brief as it was it was still there. And this reaction of his would make it clear Zeus found it rather entertaining how Mia had discovered her powers. In his opinion their honestly was no better way to discover you could control lightning than during an argument. Especially when you were fighting for something you believed in.
“You assume a lot for someone who doesn’t know me,’ he finally spoke when the tissue fell to the ground. His eyes remaining on the thing for a moment the god was rather curious to know she was going to pick it up or not. It already was surprising that the thing managed to find its way to the ground in the first place, considering how much pressure she had put on it before. “But you are quite right.” Lifting up his hand the god put his index finger on his temple and let his head rest against it. “I always hear how discovering their powers fucked up and over their lives beyond my comprehension. As if it’s a curse rather than a gift.”
With the way he was responding he thought he probably wasn’t going to make himself very popular, but well, he wasn’t here to be found popular by her was he now? “So,” he continued, moving his fingers and head so he could make his temple rest on the lower part of his fingers, “I’d like to know what you think of your ability itself. You see it as a curse?” Taking his daughter in with his usual fierce gaze he hoped she would not disappoint with her answer.
