If you were short money isn’t that the job of the finance mod or mods running the zine to calculate this or cover the shortage? You can’t go into the project like this and not expect just pre-order funds to cover everything. Please don’t host a zine if this is not assured with some sort of insurance.
Our calculations and pricing misjudged the actual costs of everything with shipping included. Right now purchasing zines would take much more than what Savas and I can afford(especially since Ziiyenn had to leave due to family issuea), so we decided to ship out the merch with our remaining money. I'm deeply sorry for our inexperience and mistakes, and I will keep that in mind for the future.

Hi! I'm glad you got into contact with savas and that we'll get our merch, at least :O I hope we find out where the rest of the funds are and what happened. Anyway, I was wondering if you know when we can expect to see refunds and merch by? ^^ That way I can keep an eye out =)

Wait...what? What happened to savas for her to go MIA? What happened to all the funds? I thought you said there was like $1000 worth of money in the account...where is it? And what about people who requested a refund, not knowing if we'lol get our items? How will we get the merch then? I don't mean to be rude, but the lack of transparency here upsets me a lot. I appreciate you getting in touch with her, but this is still some rather disappointing news, I think...
I don't know the exact reasons for her disappearance, since she never specified (although I did DM her saying that people would like to know) However, I'm assuming it's from stress, since she was also modding at least 3 other zines at the time, and I heard that she had mental health issues for a while.
The funds have either been used to buy the merch or transferred into savas' own card/paypal. I calculated that there was $650 transferred out of the PayPal/stripe, but savas only says she has $350 right now. I have no idea where $300 is because I don't have access to records after money is removed from the zines PayPal. Im trying to resolve the issue and find out what happened with savas.
I'm not exactly sure what you meant with your question, but everyone who ordered a bundle with merch will get merch, even if you've requested a refund. Savas says she's packaging the merch right now.
I'm sorry if I was not transparent, but I don't know what else I can do to be more transparent. I've answered every question to the best of my abilities, and if you have any more, I'd be more than willing to give any information that I have.

Hello everyone!
I’ve gotten in touch with savas recently. She’s received the proof of the zine (as shown in this video), but she says she only has around $350 and so we cannot print the zines. However, she will be mailing the merch. If you ordered a bundle and your address has changed, please email us with your updated address. We will also be issuing partial refunds to people who bought physical copies. If your payment information has changed, email us as well.
I will be sending out the PDF copies to all customers via email. If you do not receive it within the next 24 hours, please send us a message.

the most important thing is: what are you going to do about zsavasz and how are you moving forward for the contributors and the customers? in addition to the thousand+ customer dollars wasted, thousands of hours of work went down the drain due to mismanagement and lack of transparency. the public not hearing from mod qd is also unsettling. i'm not pointing fingers (yet), but i would be remiss to trust any of you in the organization of future projects. what are you doing to earn back that trust?
I’m in the process of contacting parents and real-life friends of savas. I hope they will be able to help or perhaps even resolve the situation. In the meantime, I’m putting together a PDF for the contributors and customers. Also, I’m considering placing the PDF onto Gumroad and using any profits gained to reimburse the customers. However, this is only a preliminary idea, and I would need to receive additional feedback.
QD does not have a Tumblr, but if you would like to contact her directly you can message @kyuu_don on Twitter or QuyenYeet#4324 on Discord. Furthermore, I can relay any messages to her, or ask her to create a Tumblr and add her as part of this Tumblr so she can post, if this is something people are interested in. In the beginning of the zine’s creation, QD was not very involved due to time constraints, but now she is actively trying to resolve this as well.
If I’m completely honest, I don’t mind if anyone distrusts me at this point; I’m aware of the mismanagement and major errors both the other mods and I have made through this entire process. AFAIK, Savas has modded at least three other zines aside from this one. However, I don’t see myself organizing future projects and I don’t think QD will either, if that makes you feel any better. This is my first experience as a mod, and judging from how disastrous and stressful it turned out to be, I really am not interested in being a mod ever again– so rest assured. Although, I do wish to see this project to its completion and create a final product to the best of my abilities.

Hi. I've never ran a zine before and it seems like hard work, so thanks. But I might be confused. How was there no moderation with how ONE person handled everything from their personal acct? Why weren't the buyers notified of the personal transfer of $$? You mentioned not having CSP, but couldn't another mod have gotten the program? Where even is the mod list? Also, can't you report the main mod's personal acct for fraud? What about the merch that was supposedly ordered? Will buyers get them?
I wasn't aware that the money was transferred out until recently. I didn't think there was a reason to check the PayPal, and I didn't see any emails about the money being moved. From my side, there wasn't really a reason to doubt the main mod; she ordered the merch and showed proof of them arriving at her house, so I thought the same would be true for the zines.
I don't know if the other mod has CSP. It's also a paid program, and it would have been financially difficult for us to purchase something just for a single project, especially since we thought the main mod had it covered.
The mod list with links can be found in the FAQ. I'm kaiiste (mod k). zsavasz (mod s) is the main mod, who started the project and ordered the merch to her house, and is currently MIA. The final other mod is QD/Ziiyenn.
Since the merch is at zsavasz's house, I don't know what will happen to it or what she's doing with it unless she replies to our messages and gives us an update. Sadly she seems to have disappeared from social media entirely since March 16th, when contributors in the discord began to question delays. I've contacted multiple people already and none of them have heard from her recently.
I can try to report her personal account for fraud, but I'm not very well versed in PayPal so I don't know how exactly. If anyone could explain it would be greatly appreciated.
I realize some of this could have been prevented if I had been more careful, and I'm really, really sorry and regretful that things have turned out like this. I've known zsavasz for around 3 years now and I never would have believed she'd do something like this. Just goes to show that someone you thought you trusted completely can end up betraying you in the end.

Hi, I purchased the zine, and I was wondering if there was anything planned for what would happen if the main mod did not respond ? Would I be getting a refund on my order?
If your purchasd was on PayPal and less than 180 days, you can open a dispute. Please check the email I sent out today.
I'm still trying to figure out how to proceed. We had over $1000 and now there's absolutely nothing in the zine's PayPal due to the main mod withdrawing money and buying merch. I'm absolutely disappointed and furious at this situation as much as everyone else.

Wait what does that mean to us? You mean this is probably a scam?? Are there any updates concerning this?why is the main mod not responding anymore? If this is a scam and we don't get the stuff we ordered, I want a refund.
I sent emails to all customers today regarding refunds. Please check your email if you haven't seen it already.
I don't know why the main mod isn't responding. It seems to be worse than I orginally imagined it to be. No one can get in contact with them-- not even other people unaffiliated with this zine. They have also been inactive as a mod in other zines.

Update 3/23
Hello everyone. Our main mod, who is in charge of shipping and distributing, has stopped responding to our messages. Additionally, none of the other mods or contributors has seen a PDF copy of the final zine, or images of a physical proof.
While we hope that everything can be resolved soon, I have decided to begin putting together a PDF of the zine in case one has not actually been created, which should be finished around this week. After it is completed, it will be distributed via email to all customers. A post will be made when that happens.
More details under the cut.
Regarding any final PDFs/proofs, I was not able to find any among the mod Google drive or Dropbox folders. The main mod put the zine together using CSP comic files, but it was not shared with me since I don't own CSP.
We are also unable to view any correspondence with the zine manufacturer or the order status from the zine email. All of the merch was ordered with the zine's PayPal account, which is linked to the email. However, during the preorder period, we were afraid that our PayPal may get shut down (due to similar things happening to other zines) and transferred $350 to a personal PayPal. At the end, another combined $280 was moved out from the PayPal and Stripe accounts. This is in line with the calculated production costs of the zine, which came out to $624. Because of this, I assume that the zines were ordered from a personal email/bank account by the main mod.
Hopefully, we can get a response and have physical zines and merch shipped out. For now, however, please understand that we do not have access to any preorder funds for a reprint of the new, currently in-progress PDF.
If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to send us an ask.

[1/31] UPDATE
Hello everyone! The mods of Expecto Patronum would like to sincerely apologize for the delay and silence. Due to the changes in our zine schedule and our own inexperience as mods, we have been having trouble balancing our personal duties and our mod duties. Thankfully, our merchandise has all arrived safely and we are now only waiting for the production of the zines to come to an end. We have been having trouble with our first zine manufacturer and switched to another one. There were also some issues with the printing and so there has, unfortunately, been another delay in the zine printing.
Shipping should be expected within the next month and our mods would like to thank everyone for their patience. Again, we would like to apologize for the delay and our inexperience.

SELF-SELECTION
Regularly, all merchandise included in the Unicorn and Stag Bundles will be randomized for each purchase, but the Expecto Patronum Zine Team has decided to add an additional option for the two bundles.
Due to its nature as a Multi-Fandom Zine, the Expecto Patronum Zine Bundles may have merchandise representing fandoms that do not appeal to each individual consumer. Our mod team understands this particular concern and have chosen to include an additional option to our pre-orders selection.
For an additional cost of 5 USD, consumers may self-select which merchandise designs they would like included in their order.
This means, if you would like to order the Unicorn Bundle ($40 USD), for an additional $5 USD, you can choose which specific designs you would like for your 3 Mini-Prints, 2 Charms, 2 Bookmarks, 2 Buttons, and 2 Sticker Sheets.
If you would like to order the Stag Bundle ($30 USD), for an additional $5 USD, you can choose which specific designs you would like for your 1 Mini-Prints, 1 Charms, 1 Bookmarks, 1 Buttons, and 1 Sticker Sheets.
