Gabriela Areal (1990 - Buenos Aires, Argentina). Performer and musician dedicated to contemporary cello performance and composing works intrinsically connected to live performance. She designs scores and develops methods that explore instrumental and human group behaviors through basic principles of acoustic phenomena, process-based structures and interweaving notions of relief. She mostly works with materialities such as cello, voice, sinewaves, classical western instrument sounds and field recordings.

Ach Kuhzunft
Since his childhood, Achim Zepezauer is equally influenced by music and art. His studies at the fine arts school got him closer to music, while he felt connected to art, when he started to work as a musician. Therefor his works often seek the intersection of both and lead to performances, concerts or installations. Beyond that he curates experimental concerts, designs covers for records, does pottery, occasionally produces animated short films and hosts his own radio show. ...for more you can let it continue with this: He has his own radio show at the Dortmund University since 2005, has released a DVD with animated music-videos and joined the large band/collective "The Dorf" the same year with percussion and electronics. He curates the experimental concert series "mex" at Künstlerhaus Dortmund since 2015, at which he also has his own artist's workshop since 2021. Besides releases of vinyls, tapes and cds with in many settings, as well as a floppy disc with his daughter, there were exhibitions and numerous cover artworks, to name just a few of his manifold activities.

Kreis is a duo formed by two of the most interesting experimental guitarists active in Italy: Francesca Naibo and Simone Massaron. Both selected by Elliott Sharp for the prestigious collection “I never metaguitar” (publications that collect music by the best creative guitarists around), they play with the possibilities of the instrument by exploiting it in all its sonic extension in the way of Derek Bailey, Helmut Lachenmann or John Cage, but never forgetting the popular and communicative nature of the guitar. Kreis is composition and improvisation, sound and noise, placed on the same plane to draw from a wide and rich expressive spectrum; thus it creates music that is sincere, risky and experimental. Naibo and Massaron play electric guitars, effects, objects and preparations, although they come from different backgrounds. Naibo is a classically trained guitarist with studies in Italy and Switzerland, and her interest is particularly focused on using both the acoustic and electric nature of her instrument. Cellist Hank Roberts says of her, “Francesca sounds like no one else; a dynamic and talented improviser/composer bringing important and original sounds to the world of music.” Massaron started out as an electric guitarist and boasts important collaborations with some of the most interesting guitarists on the American scene - Elliott Sharp, Marc Ribot, Nels Cline. With vocalist Carla Bozulich he released “Dandelions on fire,” an album that was critically acclaimed in the indie/rock scene, and his solo album “The big empty” bears Ribot's liner notes (“an austere, beautiful cd”). Naibo and Massaron met in the common territory of free non-idiomatic improvisation in 2015. When they play, they leave themselves open to creation in the moment in order to capture the freshness and spontaneity of energetic and deep sounds. After 8 years of collaboration, they are in the process of releasing their first duo album.

Jessie Marino is a Berlin-based composer, performer, and media artist. Her compositions and solo performances abstract ideas drawn from all stripes of popular culture and political discourse, girded by a definitively humanistic sensibility rife with equal doses of wit and pathos. Marino’s pieces score out sound, video, story, lighting, and staging, treating each of these elements as expandable musical materials. She transcends the conventional materials of composition to help audiences locate music in the most commonplace activities and relations.

Olaf Hochherz is a sound artist and researcher mostly performing with self build electronic instruments and computer programs. He develops installations and performance installations. His interest is in the conjunction of the instability, self-generation, and associative capacity of sounds.
He presented his electronic compositions at different Festivals. His installations could be realized in Germany, Taiwan and China. He toured with his performances throughout Central Europe and East Asia.
„I didn’t try to make an electronic device, which is controllable in the same way as a classical acoustic instrument, instead I work with the abstraction of the electronics. In my playing i do not control a technical apparatus, but create an associative field. The sounds have their own live. The playing tries to keep them alive.“
He got educated at Folkwang Hochschule Essen in electronic composition, Humbold University Berlin in philosophy and computer science and at Bauhaus University Weimar in sound-art/media-art. He holds a BFA and MFA in Mediengestaltung (Media-Art) and a wrote a PhD on experimental music. His research interest lies in the impact of technologies on artistic practices.

Marina Cyrino is a Brazilian flutist and sound artist based in Berlin. She works in the fields of improvisation, composition and performative installations. Her flute playing is characterized by singular techniques developed through the use of internal amplification. Javier Areal Vélez (Buenos Aires, 1985) is an experimental music composer, improviser and curator. His recent work focuses on the coding of digital companions for the performance of live improvised music. Javier's electronic music develops around noisy polyrhythms of extra-human complexity to make the most deformed audiences move. He researches human+machine collaborations through the use of samples, synthesis, lights, and mechanical robots. Additionally, Javier has a long career as performer of prepared electric guitar. His characteristic style relies heavily on a primal technique that emphasizes timbre and rhythm over traditional forms, favoring intensity and dynamic contrast. Javier has released records on labels worldwide and has collaborated with artists such as Heiner Goebbels, Audrey Chen, Chris Pitsiokos, Violeta García, Brian Chase, Shayna Dunkelman and Jorge Espinal. He is a member of CALATO, KYSE and VVU and wrote commissions for ensambles Híbridx, Rotativo and Tempi. Over the past decade, Javier has performed extensively in Argentina and toured across South and North America, Europe and Japan. Javier is the founder and director of RUIDO Experimental Music Festival (active since 2017), and he coordinates the Sound Arts Center (CASo) of the Secretary of Culture of Argentina.
