is this a safe space to say that the additions to the LGBT flag (“progress flag”) are well meaning but undermine the fact that the original colors symbolized vague concepts that could apply to anyone, rather than signifying specific types of human beings, which is, ironically, more “exclusionary” since it begs the question of why “X specific group of humans” aren’t being represented in the imagery now. the original flag completely avoided that conundrum. also it’s a little ugly. But don’t mind me lol.

#i mean toooo be honest it's kind of like. a parallel to adding more abd #more letters to lgbtqai+whatever #versus saying queer #there are motivations behind it which spring from valid concerns (being *explicit* about inclusion of X group #where the original flag and the older term are open to undisclosed interpretation #so you dont know precisely how a given person is using them)#but... yeah it is a little ugly lol #but also more importantly yeah i don't think for a second that the 60s-70s US generation of queer activists who made the flag #*weren't* inclusive of trans ppl or poc like. both those groups were central in that movement #anyway. ill keep using both versions but i just like the old baker one so much #queer
