Twins

Twins is that one thing everyone wants to be unless they are actually one themselves. 

Growing up as twin is harder than it looks especially if you’re identical.

Being an identical twin is hard to put into words.

In my experience we grew up in a small town and had other siblings who were know as “the twins brother”. Through school it was a nightmare, school is hard enough trying to figure out who you are and what path you are going to take in your future, let alone being an identical twin.

Through school not only do you have to figure out who you are as an individual but you also have EVERYONE comparing EVERYTHING about you. 

“Who is the smarter twin?”

“Who is better at Math?”

“Who is taller?

And it goes on.

School also wasn’t easy for me when at school your only bully is your twin and then you have to go home and share a bedroom with your bully, there is no escape... (no my parents did not do a thing, apparently they did not know it was happening). And technically the bullying has not stopped as we got older it now just has a more technical word to name in... Narcissism. 

That also doesn't stop once you’re out of school either, it then leads to “who’s the hotter twin”, “who’s the better kisser”, it gets worse... Men try to bed both of you, or they play games to pit you against each other.

So what I am saying is not only do you have in your mind the usual thoughts of insecurities may it be weight or something on your face. Being a twin you have extra thought’s of who is skinnier, who is curvier, who has better hair. Constantly comparing yourself because your WHOLE life has been a comparison to the clone you were born with.

My whole life I have tried to teach myself to NEVER compare yourself with anyone, I strongly believe everyone is running their own race and it is not a competition, but boy it gets hard when 26 years of being compare to your identical twin sister creeps in every so often.

I’m writing all this to get it off my chest as not many people can relate to it, and it becomes heavy trying so hard to be the individual you want so much to be.
