One of my favorite things about the reveal of the dissenter statues in The Final Shape is how it casts all the statues we've seen up to this point in a new light. The Lunar Pyramid, The Black Garden, Clarity Control, all once stood as imposing monoliths that heralded the arrival of The Witness, with their ominous whispering we naively assumed to be dark temptations by our enemy on the horizon. We now know them to be tragic figures cast out into a horrifying fate, forced to lead other towards an end goal that they spoke out against and were punished for. Their ominous whisperings actually being distressing warning and abject cries for help to save them from this cursed existence
Idk I just think Destiny is really good at long term story telling and set up/payoff

Actually it's in bad faith for me to call it "funny" to take out parts of the game. It was a necessary evil.
hey destiny fandom I don't go there but im considering it here's a couple questions for you all:
Who is that robot I see people draw in skinny jeans. What's his deal.
Are the robots important? Like, If I were to play destiny, would the robots frequently show up and be relevant to the story?
Is the in-game community any good? Can I play through the main story without interacting with it?
Is there any story arks that are deeply tragic? I like my games leaving me staring blankly at the screen when I'm finished, lol.
Sincerely, a robot lover conducting a survey on if I should get into that game that's been compared to Warframe for ages. I could google this but Tumblr is honest and funny.

Hi I know a lot of people have chimed in on this but I am obsessed with this game and would also like to chime in on this.
1. Honestly no idea. Could be Cayde-6, most likely is Cayde-6. What colour is his face?
2. Destiny is a game of many stories. Are the robots important? Depends on which ones. Do you mean the robots-that-once-were-humans? Yes. There is a whole story dedicated to them. Do you mean the robots-that-are-actually-housing-units-for-a-hivemind? Yes. Their story is very closely tied to the other robots at some point, and also to the Main Narrative, which the other robots don't really have as big a hand in. Do you mean the AI drones? No. Unfortunately not.
3. Hahaaaa... playing through the main story... about that, Bungie thought it would be funny to rip the main story of Destiny 2 out of the game, and also it's first 3 expansions (2 minor, 1 major). But, if you want to play any of the campaigns, community interaction requirement is minimal. The community itself is noth one of the most welcoming, and also The Worst. Depending on who you ask and who you interact with.
4. Absolutely, yes. Destiny has some of the best story arcs in gaming in my opinion, and they manage to pull on my heartstrings effortlessly. If you want story, the site Ishtar Collective is practically the Destiny library. May I recommend the story of the Last Word and the Thorn?

Counterpoint: Sunbracers AC-130 builds. Both immensely fun and ridiculously effective. Slap Momentum Transfer on Sunbracers and suddenly you have an infinite murder machine. Combine with Phoenix Dive, Ember of Empyrean, and Heat Rises for infinite regeneration and immortality so long as you keep sacrificing people to the Sun. Add onto this an effective solar weapon, literally anything in the top slot, and literally anything in the heavy slot, and you have the God of Neutral Game.
My personal favourite accompaniment to this is Icarus Dash, Well, and an Enhanced Eager Edge sword, so I can also channel my inner SR-71 Blackbird and enter mach speeds, whilst also running The Only Warlock Super Allowed, to satisfy all of the Hunters and Titans who don't understand the concept of the left stick or WASD. I also like Witherhoard, because it gives me an extra solar grenade with a special TTK exclusive skin on it.
I just wanted an excuse to talk about my fun build tbh
The amount of fun one can have in destiny is inversely proportional to how effective the loadout would be in high-end content (raids, dungeons, etc.) Maximize the silly. Make that build around that niche exotic nobody uses. Make the hardest fit ever to go with it. Minmaxing is for nerds, just make the stats what you feel is right. Have fun, because it's all just a game.

I love Destiny's cosmology and I hate how nobody talks about it enough!
Like, no, it's not enough to have just the universe. No FIRSTLY we must have infinite parallel universes existing at the same time as it (Contraverse Hold) THEN we need a forking timeline loop thing that converges on the continued existence of one person (Elsie Bray) THEN we need the Ascendant Plane and the Ley Lines running parallel to our own reality (each being replicated in the Contraverses and in Elsie's timelines) THEN each throne inside the Ascendant Plane THEN the CloudArk AND the ProtoCloudArk AND the VexNet
AND THEN EVERY BLACK HOLE CONTAINS ITS OWN UNIVERSE (Pathria-Good Cosmogenesis Model)
AND THEN THE BLACK GARDEN AND THE FINAL SHAPE PLACE (I'm not even trying to explain them at this point lmao)
(No, do not mention "Oh yeah Ahamkara know they're in a game" near me that is bad writing and it ruins the entire destinyverse and I will implode)
Just... There's so much. It's amazing that Bungie can keep track.

lore entry from the SotD ship
taken in kind with the trailer shot that implies that the convo between ikora and cayde is happening inside the traveler, on the other side of the portal that joxer and his fellows were attempting to breach :
i think it's possible this may be less of a full on resurrection and more a manifestation of a memory, similar to the Nightmares. (i will note that nightmares are typically more spectral in their appearance, while our exo friend here appears to possess significantly more solidity) note the unusual effects around cayde's eyes and mouth
^shot from the trailer he appears to be filled with Light, which is.... interesting. if darkness is memory and light is forgetting, then are these manifestations (assuming that is what this is) a side effect of the witness' assault on the traveler? (maybe) I'm going to hold off on drawing any specific conclusions but the implications of this are certainly curious. what other dead allies might we encounter? (if any) will other lightbearers be exposed to memories of their pre resurrection lives if they cross through the portal?
#destiny 2#the final shape#no but you dont understand#this means that we FINALLY GET TO SEE BACKGROUND LORE GUARDIANS#JOXER APPEARANCE#AND REED-7#but one promptly gets turned into a jujutsu kaisen reference#and the other gets rizzed up by his own wife and is forced to exist at the speed of light#(such that all of spacetime is collapsed into a single point that converges only on him#and he fucking dies and turns into the shock horror OHGODWHAT scene from the opening cutscene)

If nothing else, Season of The Seraph has shown me that I need to brush up on my technobabble interpretation. You know the whole "//SKYSHOCK IMPERATIVE//HADAL ASSETS" etcetcetc? i can't read that for shit.
Also we need to hear more of Clovis's scientific explanations UNINTERRUPTED THANK YOU ANA because what he said about Casimir fields is so important in the interpretation of Void Light especially in the context of modern day physics. And I personally feel like "person gets interrupted before they infodump, played for laughs" hits a bit... close.

All this is making me think of is the implication that there ARE "Apostles of The Witness" and how ungodly terrifying they would be
I swear, I just want to create a bunch of Disciple OCs, pick 8 of them, add them to the Disciple Quintet so that they become 13 and call them Apostles

What I (and most actually rational EE users) didn't like was the fact that it took Bungie 10 months to even say that double eager swiping was unintentional. It took them until they improved the perk and gave us the ability to TRIPLE EAGER SWIPE to even mention that it was unintentional, and then they immediately set a hard speed limit on activation (which means if you want to counter an eager edge griefer that shoves you off a cliff, you can no longer counter it!). At least with Shatter/Well/Bubbleskating Bungie has stated that the tech is unintentional and that they will eventually get to it.
The conversation isn't about "shitting on casuals", it's about how most decisions by Bungie are designed to kill skill gap and ruin sources of long form pursuit in the game. Note before anyone decides to nitpick here that I said "most", not "all". If it was all decisions, Divinity would still be at 30% debuff.
Another thing I find oddly convenient is that only now is double eager swiping being removed after it becomes more commonplace in speedruns of the game. Their excuse is that it allows people to "skip encounters" and "break mechanics". I want you to name me one encounter that can be skipped, in any raid, dungeon, etc in the game, or better yet, one mechanic that can be broken by going rather quickly. The convenient timing of this "fix" is just another piece of evidence to the fact that Bungie just hates speedrunners. They're so wrapped up in their vision for the game, that they remove things that people consider fun. And no, it doesn't help in PvP, because there's footage of people still doubleswiping in PvP after the nerf.
When you start talking about how you want "gamers to have their toys taken away" what does that do for the people who don't treat people like shit, but still like to use the more difficult and rewarding tech in the game?
The current "narrative" is about how Bungie is actively making these changes to disenfranchise a specific part of Destiny's fanbase, then lying through their teeth about it. And the fact that Enhanced Eager Edge is now literally useless.
I feel like the only one happy that they nerfed Eager Edge. It was only used as a tool to grief other players.
From what I see, apparently the nerf didn't properly address the stuff that is used for griefing. According to people who understand these things better, the core tech used for griefing is still very much usable. Though maybe the uproar about the perk being nerfed will make griefers stop using it.
Other than that, you're not alone! I genuinely don't care for the perk and until gamers learn how to act like human beings, they should have their toys taken away. Once again, I took a glance on Twitter to see what's going on and the comments are full of people being outright openly disgusting towards Bungie and devs, as well as being disgusting towards casual players.
The current narrative is that Bungie is only listening to casual players and casual players are not "good enough" to use the Eager Edge tech so Bungie nerfed it so casuals "don't feel excluded." Insane. This is often paired with comments where assholes mock people who don't want to be griefed and don't want to get put into strikes with speedrunners. This is twisted into "casuals think strikes matter and don't want us professional hardcore gamers skipping to the end in 2 minutes."
Basically the whole conversation is once again about shitting on casual players, new players, players with disabilities and so on, who are somehow forcing Bungie to make the game more casual by nerfing hardcore tech and removing "fun" from the game. And big personalities are edging it (pun intended) on. Haven't seen a single one say anything like "don't blame casual players and players who struggle for this." So yeah, until these gamers learn to treat others like people, I genuinely will rather Bungie take this away from them. Out of spite.
I just want to do my bounties in peace, man. I also don't want to be griefed by complete strangers who don't even have the decency to rez me after tossing me into a wall and making me lose the flawless progress for the triumph.
#destiny 2#eager edge drama#i've never seen a community that hates skill as much as destiny#there are people who've been kicked from raids just from having the funny sword#but i guarantee they're justified because it's another fuck you to the filthy speedrunners#i've seriously tried to be as respectful as possible but i am losing the will to live here

Oh, and Salt never said that the crit bubble should be removed.
Honestly, a good way to balance Divinity would be to put the crit bubble directly on where the Div is shooting, so it's not just the set location.
It doesn't matter what game it is, there shouldn't be anything which is simultaneously the easiest thing to use, and the most effective.
Yes I am talking about Divinity.

hey that's not what "skill gap" is, and that's not what a Div nerf would do. A Div nerf would widen the skill gap, which would incentivise people actually getting better at the game because getting better at the game would actually have some tangible benefit.
It makes the game harder to learn for New Lights? Unless they're jumping straight into raids as soon as they get out of the New Light quest then they would still have to learn how to aim at the same rate as everyone else.
It affects people with disabilities? Aim Assist exists for a reason, and plus, Saltagreppo never called for the weapon to be nerfed so that it's actively detrimental to a team, just so that it isn't practically required for every single boss encounter.
Can someone please explain me the Divinity drama? I don't have the cursed bird app
