It was times like these that reminded Taeyeon why she loved the city so much.  Sure, it had it’s problems, and they weren’t tiny, not by any stretch of the imagination, but somehow, it often brought people together, like her and Junghong.  If she knew more about what it was that the male did with his free time, then maybe she wouldn’t be so excited to run into him on the street like this, but for now, ignorance is bliss, and she was more than happy to make conversation with him.
“I can’t help that either, but...but...you’re just waaaaaay too tall now, it’s definitely not fair, I just want you to know that.” she teased more, a small laugh escaping her lips as she looked up at him, her warm smile evident.
She hadn’t planned on the encounter, that was for sure, but she was more than happy that it had happened. “So you’re obviously cold, why aren’t you wearing gloves?  Aish kids these days.” she shook her head, sounding way older than she actually was.  “Come on, got time for some lunch?  I’m buying, of course.  There’s a little cafe just around the corner I was going to go to.”
A “Hot Lunch” Doesn’t Mean It’s Stolen || Taeyeon & Zelo
A loud whine was about the only thing he could manage when he got to the bus stop 3 seconds late, eyes watching as the bus pulled away. Now he had to wait 45 minutes for the next one and he wasn’t dressed to be waiting outside in the cold. He proceeds to sulk for a while, shoving his very very cold hands into the pockets of his hoodie. Deciding that waiting at the bus stop would be the death of him and makes his way back to the direction of a coffee shop he had literally just ran past.
Walking made him feel a little bit better, it made the blood pump round his body long enough for his body to actually warm up a little. But not nearly as much as he wanted it too, lips tugging into a pout as he rubs his hands together, breathing down on them in hopes of warming them up. Upon looking up, the pout on his lips soon fades and is replaced with a smile. Feet seeming to move on their own and towards the direction of a familiar face. One he hadn’t seen in quite a while and was probably about time they ran into each other once again - for old times sake.
“I dont have any control over that Taeyeon noona.” a smile growing as the words fell from his lips in response, smile tightening on his next words. “besides its not my fault you’re so tiny.”

What the hell is happening?
Taeyeon couldn’t think straight for the moment, her small body drenched to the bone from the water torture her captors had set upon her.  High pressure hoses, spraying first ice cold water, then water hot enough to hurt, but not enough to actually burn the skin, trying to get SPD secrets out of her.  She wasn’t sure which group would be capable of this, but she wanted to make sure that they would get taken down.  She thinks that at some point, she must have lost consciousness, as when she opened up her eyes next, the other members of SPD she had seen hanging on chains with her were gone, having left her behind.  She was none to pleased about that, but she knew that the others hadn’t been members of her team, so she wouldn’t question loyalty at that point.
Her eyes focusing in the dark, she finally noticed a slight glimmering of metal that was different in front of her.  A set of keys.  She didn’t know how it was that she was so lucky to have this opportunity, but after the hours of torture she had just underwent, she wasn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth.  The only question was how she was going to get it.  She swung on the chain holding her up, but the grip around her neck tightened and she just missed.  She wasn’t sure how many attempts she would have before completely losing her ability to breathe, but she wasn’t going down without a fight.  She put her feet against the wall and with one large push, propelled herself forward just enough to get to the keys, just grasping it with her short reach, and swinging back into the wall with a large thud, causing her to grit her teeth from the impact, but she stayed quiet.
Finally free and on her feet on the ground again, Taeyeon rubbed her neck where the chain was and looked to see if there was anything she could use as a weapon in case she came across her captors.  The chains were secured too heavily to be pulled off, so she decided she was just going to have to rely on her hand-to-hand training.  Despite being a sniper, she was still SWAT, so she was just as trained on that as anyone in the department.  She carefully made her way to the door, listening closely to see if there were any noises she could hear, but nothing caught her ear.  What she found when she exited the holding room became more and more crazy as she progressed.
Trip wires, but not enough to harm, just enough to trigger alarms, were found across door frames at ankle level, stairways that led to nowhere, it was a maze that seemed to be leading somewhere specific.  Hearing a noise in the hall ahead of her, Taeyeon stopped at the corner she was at and peered around carefully.  She could make out a figure, and with what little light was coming through the glass walls of the building, she could just barely make out the features of Somin.  She rushed over, dodging the extremely weak punch the other swung at her, and caught her from falling.  “Shit...yeah, it’s me. Are you okay?  Do you know what’s happening here?”
☾. flashpoint.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat.
There was never scenario that played out in her mind where she had envisioned herself in chains. She had seen herself be tortured – sometimes, to death – whilst why she was not surprised when those people came to her and worked in myriads of ways to make her talk. Dunking her into icy water, beating her up, electrocuting her, et cetera, she was going to take it all even if it meant her death. Her sight was blurry and she assumed that it was either the aftermath of a good doze of volts or of a drug. She remained there. It was fortunate that they barely have details about her past – thankfully, she was never quite talkative when it came to her psychological evaluation, and something was telling her that whoever was behind this had accessed it, because they were serving her half-truths on a golden platter.
“If you want to break me,” she retort playfully insolently. “You should up your game a little bit.” And, they did. Perhaps, it was her time to die. The thing was that she had no clue what they were exactly searching for. If she knew, she would have taunted them and would have used it as leverage. She would have made them play by her rules. Finally, she would have force them to free her only to escape without revealing anything – an hour later, she would have released a legion on them to exact revenge for detaining her and she would have sent the survivors who would not cowardly fight back in the roughest prison in vicinity. Every day, she would have visited them and would have rushed their spirits.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat.
Every day, they would leave her on hanging – and a few colleagues – in this room where she was. She had tried many times to flee, but her first attempts only resulted into failure and the chain around her neck was tightened. It did hurt, but it did help her study the window of opportunity she needed to escape. She did not how she managed – it took every fiber of her body and every drop of her will – to ignore the pain and to grasp the keys. If it would have been practice like at the police academy, she would have left her colleagues, who were not trying hard enough to escape, behind. Back in the days, as a trainee, she was a ruthless one.
It was sad that, as soon as they were all freed, everyone’s survival instincts kicked in and it was now all men for himself. Only the strongest would find their way out while the weakest to be subject to more torture from the captors. Somin was not all that different when she came out from the room and zigzagged around the building. She soon realized that it was all about wits and teamwork. If only she would have known about the traps, she would have probably assembled a team. They taught that too at the academy during SWAT-type exercises.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat.
There she was catching her breath. Disoriented and a tad panicking, the brunette, sitting down, leaned her back against the wall as she tried the best she could to stay awake an alerted. Here she was wishing for a miracle. She could here noises coming from the right. Someone, friend or foe, was about to engage on this hallway. It forced her to stand up in any event she had to defend herself. Her sight was blurry; therefore she could not quite see who was coming her way. In a split second, she tried to punch, but instead she fell possibly into someone’s arms. Before she slip into unconsciousness, she heard a voice calling.
It was funny that she thought of the SWAT earlier, because that voice she assumed she heard belong to “Taeyeon…?” that she whispered or maybe said clearly.

Chained Up || Taeyeon & Gain
Taeyeon was battered and bruised, hanging limply from a chain around her neck.  It wasn’t enough to kill her, but it was getting tighter then more she moved.  She wasn’t sure what hit her, how she ended up in this holding area with other members of the SPD, but someone was trying to get information from them.  Tortured by industrial strength hoses spraying harmful hot water and bone chilling cold water, she was soaked from head to toe.  The torture, it had gone on for hours, how many she wasn’t sure, but she gave them no information that they could use.  She was angry, saddened that they’d stoop so low as to taunt her about her brother, the driving reason behind why she joined the force in the first place.  They tried using anything they could to break her, but she held firm, giving them baseball box scores instead of information, instead of lashing out. It was a tip her father had given her years before.  She never thought she’d have to put it to use.
The captors had left, and Taeyeon, as far as she could tell, was the only one close enough to notice a mistake had been made. They left a key.  It was too far away for her to reach from her position, but maybe, just maybe if she could push off the wall and swing on the chain, she could reach it.  The problem with this was the chain around her neck.  She couldn’t be sure that she wouldn’t injure herself more in the process, but to get her and the other people free, she would take the risk.  Taking a deep breath, she tried just a little push off first, but to no avail, she didn’t have enough force to get to it, and in doing so, the chain wrapped around her neck a little tighter.  She gave it another try, this time pushing forward even more, but her fingers just barely hit the closest key, and she let out a cry in pain as her shoulder slammed into the wall behind her hard, the chain getting even tighter now.

The end of a long week being spent at a bar with her fellow officers was definitely something Taeyeon needed to kind of help her get out of the constant stress the job would bring to them in the ever constant battle for what was left of Seoul’s good side.  It was an uphill battle, but this evening, they were having a cause to celebrate an actual win for once.
Smiling brightly at the detective’s declaration she cheered with the rest of the crew about SWAT’s efforts out in the field. She had provided some cover fire to get some of the hostages out, drawing attention to her position instead of the other officers that were working hard down on the ground.  It had been a successful mission, one they wouldn’t soon forget, as wins were unfortunately few and far between these days, it seemed.  She chugged down the rest of the beer she had been working on, the mug looking large in her tiny hands, as she sat it down, her eyes wandered over to the older woman who had addressed her. Gain was beautiful, that was for sure, and she was good at her job, something that Taeyeon was fond of.
“Hmm? Oh, yeah, I’m okay!” she grinned at her, holding up her empty glass.  “I’ve had a few of these and a long stressful week.” she emphasized the word stressful as even though this was fun, she still definitely needed a bit more to relax.
Work&Play
@taeyeonmi
It had been a long, strenuous week, the  case was a tangled mess of politics and blood and what  not but finally, after storming the building and getting every hostage out they managed to nab one of the oppressors, the rest having shot each other.
“And ofcourse we could have not pulled this off without our very own heroes, you guys in SWAT are crazy and a love it!” she might have had a bit too much, though she wasn’t entirely out of commission so he managed to stop herself while being ever so slightly tipsy and raised the Beer glass as a cheer to the colleagues with the flash of her dazzling smile and a look of pride. She set the glass back down, delicate fingers behaving and not touching it at all anymore, she knew her limits, she was all about etiquette, what to do and what not  to do- even for fun- infront of her colleagues, the wild side was to be allowed only in emergency situations. The SPD was a force to be reckoned with and she was proud of being a part of it.
Looking around the table surrounded b several members of SPD her gaze stops on the girl next to her “ Yah Taeyeon-ah, you okay? Looking tired already”

Turn the Safety Off || Taeyeon & Daehyun
When not going out on call for some of the more dangerous assignments the Seoul PD was in charge of handling, often Taeyeon would find herself helping out new recruits that might need some extra training in their academy work, more often than not with the physical aspects of the job, self-defense, hand-to-hand training, and the one she felt the most qualified to assist with, target practice.
Pacing between the dividers, ear protection in place, Taeyeon observed some of the trainees who were currently firing their weapons off in the shooting range the SPD had set up for them to practice.  She took notes on accuracy, shot grouping, anything to make the recruits better at handling their guns.  The citizens of Seoul had enough to worry about without worry about being shot by a green cop.  She made her way down the row, stopping at the last divider, a recruit by the name of Jung Daehyun.  He seemed to be struggling a bit, shots seeming to not be very consistent.  She waited until he finished the round he was on and he had sat down his gun before tapping him on the shoulder, always making sure to follow safety protocol.
“Hey, Recruit Jung.  Are you new to the weapon?” she asked, knowing it was loud enough others wouldn’t hear her. She wasn’t out to embarrass him, she just wanted to see what she could do to help.

A “Hot Lunch” Doesn’t Mean It’s Stolen || Taeyeon & Zelo
Taeyeon had seen a lot of things over her long tenure at the Seoul PD.  She’d seen murders, petty crime, bank robberies, and over the years the amount of violent crimes had seemed to only increase with time.  She hated seeing that the world had become like this, but her and the other officers, minus the ones on the take, of course, were trying everything they could to keep the streets safer.  She liked to think that they were making a difference, but she wasn’t sure if they were a cure or if they were more of a temporary fix for the bleeding of Seoul.
One thing that Taeyeon liked to do from time to time, was check up on people that she had run into over the years, especially younger people she had run into when she was a beat cop, before joining SWAT.  One of those was Junhong, he was someone that a few years back, someone that she had grown to take a liking to.  He had tried to rip her off back then, but she didn’t report him, instead offering to buy him a warm meal. From time to time over the years, she would run into him, and offer to do so again.  This, on one of her rare days off, was one of those times.
Looking up at the much, much, taller younger male, she approached him, shaking her head.  “You can stop growing any time now, you know?”

Having a conversation that was not all doom and gloom and worry about the state of the city was a welcome break for Taeyeon. She often got hit hard with the realities of her job, even if she wasn’t working a regular beat like some of the other officers there.  Her laugh, older sounding than her years, made it’s way out yet again.  “Yes, yes, I did, and you’re right, it is cool, I’ll make sure to use it again in the future.”  she grinned, her smiling evident in her voice over the phone.  “Not that much, really, same old Taeyeon, just older.  I look pretty much the same, though I have blonde hair now.  Still get carded at the bar, though...” her small stature and young face always caused confusion, much to her dismay.
The playful tone in his voice turned to one of more concern than anything and she couldn’t say she blamed him. The Lotte incident had been a major blow to the city and she herself even was being more careful.  “I’m doing my best to keep my head down.” she stated, picking up a pen and doodling mindlessly on her notepad.  “Guess it would be too much to say I don’t necessarily want a delivery, but was hoping you’d come back?  We need cops that we can trust, and well...I immediately thought of you.”
Come Back || Taeyeon & Donghae
He laughed, the pure, earnest sort of laugh “ Wow Tae, seriously did yo just play the we are the police we got our ways’ card because that sounded so fucking cool. Keep that line okay” he sighed through a few soft chuckles and shook his head, this girl. “ You haven’t changed- atleast you don’t sound like you have. Ah, now I’m curious as to how you look..mm life has been interesting for me too”  he was already processing on what to say and what to not say “Been busy trying to get by- why do you need to get something done?  I’m a good delivery guy if I do say so myself” his tone carried the playful smugness which turned to a more serious expression “ But you lady, with that whole Lottee incident, ever since then the city’s been even more chaotic. Since your SPD you got to be even more careful Tae. Police gets targeted alot”

She couldn’t help but chuckle a bit from the sound of his voice, she was imagining him just waking up as she held the phone to her ear, leaning back in her seat, already feeling more at ease with the call as soon as she heard his voice on the other end.
“It’s been a while...has it been a couple years?  I don’t even know at this point, seems like these days a lot of days run together.” she smiles, laughing again “We’re the SPD, we have our ways!” she was her usual joking self, and she couldn’t help but hope that maybe the fact he still remembered her would help with the task at hand.  “It’s good to hear you too, you know?  It’s been far too long.” it really was nice to hear from him again, the former recruit had been someone to leave an impression on Taeyeon, so she hoped that there was still a part of him that wanted to protect the city they lived in.
“Life has been...interesting as always.” she still laughed, this time a bit softer. She loved Seoul, but things were not going as well in the fight as she would have liked.  “How about you, what has Donghae been up to recently?  You wouldn’t happen to be looking for something to do, would you?” she asked in a sing-song voice, easing it into the conversation would be for the best.
Come Back || Taeyeon & Donghae
He had not realized he had passed out on his couch infront of his laptop, the withering phone that made a horrid sound on the coffee table had him jerking awake. Groaning at himself he palms his cheek and squints at the number.
Unknown, new client? Probably
Clearing his throat he accepts the call and only manages a Hello when a full on introduction was given and it took seconds for that voice to click into place.
“Oh God..Tae? Hell yeah I remember you… How long has it been?” he chuckles-rather groggily- and has to clear his throat again. “I would ask how you still have my number but never mind that- I’m loving to here a familiar voice finally after so long. Feels like ages “ rubbing at his eyes he stared at the wall clock and yawns quietly   “Sorry I just returned to the world of living. How’s life as a cop for you?”
He bet she had changed but in her mind the same face of Taeyeon was stored like an old picture. That bought along so many memories that brought out a fond smile to his face.

Come Back || Taeyeon & Donghae
Taeyeon was really on the fence about making the call as she brought up a contact in her phone, her thumb ghosting over the Call button before sighing and locking her phone setting it back on her desk.  With Seoul the way it was currently, her apprehension was growing by the day to ask anyone if they had considered a career in law enforcement, let alone someone that had left it.
She had heard the rumors about why he had left, though she hated to believe them herself.  Her father called her naive when she scoffed at the idea of crooked cops to him, saying they were on the force even when he was on active duty with them.  That was why she had heard one of the cadets she used to know back in her earlier days on the force had quit. She had a feeling it wouldn’t be any better now, but the SPD needed people they could trust and she felt that if someone’s morals were enough to quit over corruption, they were to be trusted.
It had been a long time, but she let out a groan and picked up her phone again, dialing the number, waiting to hear an answer on the other end of the line. “This is Sergeant First Class Kim Taeyeon from the Seoul PD...you wouldn’t perhaps remember me, would you?” she asked, a smile coming on her face finally.  Even if she couldn’t convince Donghae to return to training, it would be nice to hear his voice again.

Good Drinks, Good Company || Taeyeon & Hyerin
The job was getting rougher and rougher and it was getting tougher and tougher to keep what she was seeing on a daily basis from taking it’s toll on Taeyeon when she left the office fro the day.  Sure, some days, things were okay, she would see new recruits, help with training when she wasn’t out on calls, but with the way that Seoul was warring recently, even that was becoming a rare thing.  She just hoped that the trainees were getting what training they needed before being pushed out into the field.  There were enough deaths going around without a green rookie getting themselves hurt.
She knew it wasn’t constructive, but when Taeyeon knew she was finally off and wouldn’t be called back in, she would sometimes go to a bar near hear apartment to take in a few drinks and relax. She liked this bar especially because they’d often have singers.  It was a little more classy than other bars in the area, so it made her at least feel like she wasn’t hitting rock bottom.  Tonight, there was a rather cute singer with a great voice and cheeks you just wanted to pinch, and Taeyeon’s spirits were beginning to lift as she downed a whole other type of spirits.

Teenage Wasteland
It’s missions like this that make Taeyeon realize just how low the city had sunk.  A government official, someone that the people should trust, had allegedly got himself into some trouble with some people that he shouldn’t be messing around with in the first place.  Unfortunately whether he had been corrupted or whether he was being forced into it by blackmail would have to wait.  At the moment, the official was being held at gunpoint … by a kid.  The fact that they were using children to do their dirty work for them now sickened her, but she had to push that aside and focus on the task at hand.
As the second in command attempted to talk him out of it, convince him that he was throwing away everything if he went through with it, Taeyeon had broken away from the rest of the group, getting a better angle.  It was one of the advantages she had as a sniper.  Her small stature often let her go unnoticed.  Finding a squad car’s trunk that she could turn into a makeshift nest for her rifle, she flipped the stand down, lining up her shot.  She could see how itchy the kid’s trigger finger was, so she knew they’d only get the one shot.  Her gun had enough force that if she were able to hit his arm, it would knock his gun hand away from the target, if not cause him to drop the piece all together. She opened up her radio “I’ve got the shot.” she said quietly, her headset picking it up, letting the squad leader know.  She hated that she had to do it to the kid, but they weren’t talking him down.
“Kim, take the shot.”
She did as she was trained, as she had vowed to do, and didn’t hesitate.   Her calculation paying off as her shot hit him hard in the upper arm, almost in his shoulder, but it was a wound, not a kill shot, the impact had jarred the weapon loose from his hand, and both the official and the kid would live another day.  The rest of her team swarmed the boy, who was screaming on the ground and made sure the weapon was out of reach and the official was brought to safety.  She packed up her rifle, sighing partly at the paperwork she was going to have to fill out when they got back, but more at the young life that had been effected by this war for the streets of Seoul.  She hoped this would be a wake up call for him.
