The crazy thing is, I am also a Brad Marchand hater and have been for a very long time, but even I don't think he deserves to play for such a trashy team.

He's a rat for sure, but he's a different breed than guys like Chucky and Bennett. Brad is a rat who I hate to play against, but seems like a decently nice dude off the ice. Tkachuk is just an asshole and Bennett doesn't seem to care about injuring his "friends" so I don't think very highly of him either.

Marchand plays for the Panthers now though, so I still have to hate him by default.

Honestly, every time I read mainstream chatter about Mitch and his upcoming negotiations, I truly feel like I'm living in a different reality.

Like, how is my perception of him SO much different than the average Joe? How am I seeing this passionate guy who loves hockey and just wants to win and who has friends on literally every single team in the league and has coaches and other staff who talk about how amazing he is, and everybody else is seeing this money-hungry, selfish asshole who can't play for shit and is jealous of how much money Auston Matthews is making so he's going to go somewhere else? How are we talking about the same dude??

ALSO...how are they so fixated on "he just wants to go where he'll make the most money" and - at the same time - continue to spew "we don't want/need him on the leafs anymore". Okay....so WHAT IS HE SUPPOSED TO DO?!? You don't want him to sign with the Leafs, but you don't want him to go somewhere else and make more money? Is he supposed to retire?
